Simple (But Effective) Way of Improving BAL

Ali

It is happening again
Numerous times in BAL, my players have chosen the wrong pass type. Doing a through ball when they should be playing it to feet, playing to feet when they should play a through ball. I've thought of a simple solution that could improve this.

When you call for the ball, you should be able to specify what type of pass you want to be played. It could be an option that you could turn on or off in the game settings, so that those happy with the way it is now, can leave it as it is. It could work like this:

Tap R2 - Pass to feet
Hold R2 - Through ball
Double tap R2 - High ball
Tap then hold - Lobbed through ball

To stop you accidently calling for a high ball, when you actually intended to call for a pass to feet twice, there could be an icon that appears on the screen when you have intiated the action, when that disappears, you can call for a pass again. The icon should only last for about a second, which is enough time to indicate what type of pass you want, and a small enough time to keep you from waiting to call for another pass.

It's only a slight improvement, but it could be a good step in the right direction.

that's a good idea, i had thought of that before. I do think however that it could be assigned by other buttons that we dont press when playing bal

I think we could go more advanced too. You could hold L2 (ie the button for manual passing), it could then bring up a circle on the pitch, which you could move with the right stick, so you can then say where you want the pass to be played. The circle could vary in size depending on the player passing it to you. For example, good passers like Xavi would give a small circle, since they can hit passes to better accuracy.
Thinking of it, this could be one thing they could impliment with Move, wait.... don't they do something similar to this on the Wii version of the game?

Haha, it's unlikely Konami even read this site. If they do, they should check every thread, not just that section. Because there are good suggestions all over the place.

Well what websites do Konami EVEN read ? I think there is only 2-3 good Pes Fan sites around and PesGaming is one of them.

Or we could just use the same buttons as we do when in possession?
I.e. on the Xbox...A call for pass, X call for through ball, B call for Long ball/cross etc.
I think that would be fairly intuitive.

ya...but for now i would judge the right time for either a through ball or a pass to feet. it make a diff, as sometimes a through ball will be easily cut off by the defender so a pass to feet would be a better option.

This is the one thing FIFA 11's Pro mode has over PES. Having tried both, I vastly prefer PES's physics and gameplay. But it was nice in FIFA being able to switch the field by simply pressing 'O' from the opposite sideline, or calling for a through ball whilst making a run on net instead of getting a pass to feet doomed to wind up behind you anyway.
