So does this contain any manufactured goals or goal chances like Fifa

Just looking for another footie game to play online. Fifa is too rubber-banded & scripted & too AI 'personality' driven. You never feel in control -- always at the mercy of the engine & its manufacturing.

Do you score your own goals in this?

Short answer is yes, it's heavily scripted. Player ability does play some part, but you're still not totally in control.

I tried FIFA this year and hated it so moved to pes.

Pes isn't perfect but is much better for feeling in control. You feel like you did more of the work when you score in PES and it's a really rewarding feeling.

Pes has problems with the community abusing game flaws though so that can become frustrating playing against a one dimensional game plan over and over.

Problem I have with Fifa is the complete lack of control at times. Too much manufacturing by the game. I.e, you & he will get chances because the game will pull on players whilst trying to control them or will run away (and again, even whilst trying to control them). The switching is just generally awful. Some passes feel forced to go astray. Tackling is just extremely unrewarding. What else? Players just randomly go slow for no apparent reason whatsoever. Just so many annoying things....

And this is online.

Football roulette....

When will Konami and EA stop trying to artificially create the drama and excitement of a game of football and just allow it to happen organically like it does in real life?

Why the hell does anyone in the gaming industry think they have to include catch up logic or apply unseen handicaps into a game of football between two human players? These are human concepts, human failings, human errors........so why the fuck do they try to simulate these things in a game between two HUMAN players?

The simple answer is: flawed code. They know that cheap exploits exist in the game and that these will effectively ruin any "real" game of football between human players once those players figure them out. Unfortunately not everyone online wants to play a "real" game of football because the competitve element of the game encourages people to win at all costs. It's human nature.

Will this obstacle ever be overcome when it comes to online football? In my opinion, not in my lifetime.

I generally have fun with FIFA, but it drives me crazy when after a CPU goal kick or defensive clear I see my player running away from the ball so the CPU can have a free grab at it. And I do agree with your switching - you often are switched to a player away from the ball at this time....I think so your player is controlled to move away from the ball. I can write a very long list of things that drive me crazy in the game (and happens many times in every game) but I still have fun.

Definitely you will feel in control if you play online with Manual passing/shooting activated.

Like, some goals will be impossible to defend, either the AI will not allow you to override its control temporally so he can get the better of you or players will just up & run away or push up to ver near the half way line so to be beaten by some random lob through ball. The game actually orchestrates goals or goal chances right in front of your face.

Whereas as in other games everything just feels a lot less "automatic", switching is much better, the game "appears" to do a lot less orchestrating, you feel more in control of your team, you have noticeably way more input to your game, you know, more of a say in your win\lose.

Some say lag... But it's as if the game randomly puts people at a major disadvantage to generate more random.

Is this the future of footie games & sports games in general?

Definitely you will feel in control if you play online with Manual passing/shooting activated.

I would if more played manual. I'd prefer manual. But the reason I don't is because despite its flaws it still hands the assisted a major advantage. You can't pong on manual (when you really have to).

It's not fun online when you're on the receiving end of a heavy doze of scripting though. I don't mind losing 'normal' goals, I generally always feel confident in my ability to get back into the game. But when your opponent gets these easy goals because the game decides to rampantly pull on your players........

It really puts you off the game.

I just stop playing the game for a little while.
