Spamming of Speed Merchants/throughballs?

Whom do you suggest? I think perea is too short or not as physical to cut out strikers..(sometimes players like pazzini are given a b to physical but they get shrugged off easily)...
How good is Sakho? he looks good offline with decent responsiveness, explosive power and good top speed...who are your preferred center backs?

Sabatasso the thing is not what do you like or not what i wrote is enough to make the online game play to some looks like a nightmare to score to those who got me.

In most games human vs human the ball is moving way to fast and 1 - 2 markings will be proved enough to stop the most attacks. The possibility of someone to play the hold the ball until the position change and to score en easy goal that i cant do nothing to stop it is too small but i like perfection as these are real systems.

I mean the morons in konami that removed the covering the card pissed me off in what base? To tell you all the truth is nothing to me to download the new crap they build and find ways to crack it. Unless someone get's down with an idea how will cover this hole without the card I have no reason to continue in this thread.

PS is kind of giving lessons in semi pro junior team! I mean the team eat a goal because the central marker followed the cf out of position and the wing defender didn't cover the hole? You are lucky if they don't though out of the team! You cover or get the highway....

I am saying that I don't struggle with those through balls, play a deeper defense, use fast and responsive defenders and those long punts aren't an issue. I don't have any of the players you've named, and I still manage perfectly fine.

So... As I understand it, for you the answer is more about manual control then? If so, what about those quick counters? Don't you get caught with defenders out of position before you have a chance to control and position a defender manually? Also, as for defending itself, I take it you rely mostly on letting the cpu pressure and tackle the man on the ball while you cover space...? If so that might be the difference, as I'm still not comfortable playing that way. Maybe I just need to keep trying.

Also, I sometimes think that my problem is that I have a lot of possession. Would you say you attack with more run and gun fast breaks (i.e. breakaways), or slow build up with chances from crosses and passes for shots in and around the box?

Switch to the "right" player with right stick rather than the "random" switch player button. Also, use Supercancel to escape the "rail" you're running in if the defender gets "locked" (you know what I mean) and intercept the pass before it reaches the striker. If I concede due to a long ball quick counter, it's entirely my own fault, missing the inteception... it rarely happens though.

About playing the coverer rather than the pressurer, well it takes a bit of practice, and you need to keep the player you control so close that you can snap the ball once the opponent gets past the AI controlled player (which happens quite a lot). You usually don't need to use any tackle button, just run onto the ball and gain control and launch a counter if you like.

I mix my attack between slow and fast. If I get a good break opportunity, I usually take it but I slow down the second my opponent cuts it off and keep the possession, probing with runs and 1-touch passes. I score many of my goals with "regular" passes 45 degrees out from the shortline to around the penalty box, but I have no "recipe". If I need to pass across the box to reach a team mate, I use triple cross button rather than a high pass, as they usually gets intercepted. A low hard one often results in own goals as well.

I said f it and bought Perea, I've been refusing it for a long time, but the spammers can be too frustrating. He's working out pretty good so far, but he's not very strong and can be beat easily.

I wish konami would just delete or downgrade VDM. I don't care about etoe or any of the other real players scoring on me, but VDM is unacceptable.

I Played pess 2013 everything happened as I wrote it! The absence of covering card creating many gaps in the lines as the ai no longer auto covering scoring positions! I can’t understand why konami choose to remove it what the fan about scoring 20 goals vs cpu even using high pass for changing wings!!!!

Is no surprise that many people out there struggling defending! A high line setup for the defenders is helping a lot for ‘solving’ this issue and the only way I found to cover some gaps is change more often from pass and run to shoot and run for milliseconds it build the manual covering I needed but is not solid as it used to be!

I guess the people that are playing with keyboard have some advantage in here if they change the control button RB to s key and always having 3 fingers to the a = shoot x = pass s= RB it helps a lot in changing faster!?

If I find something I posted in here but what I thinking is better to gather all my posting in one big post for starters.

I have not touched MLO since 2012 because of the amount of laggers/quitters etc but have been playing hundreds of matches on 2v2 ranking in pes 2013.

I can honestly say in about 300 plus matches I have played 1 team that tried to play football. Everyone else sets up exactly the same way to exploit...and they're either city or real. So yes you are correct in saying it's all about physicality this year (btw me and my bro play as Bayern and sometimes Brazil for kicks lol).

2 things have really hurt this game "football enjoyment" though, is the removal of 2v2 from friendly lobbies and the removal of lobby chat...Konami have this habit of taking 10 steps forward and 15 back with every iteration of PES although I must give them credit for this years PES in terms of gameplay.

I also started 2v2 ranking with 1 pass support setting but now have moved to 4 to dish out the same pain to these idiots.

We also still have the sliding tackle last man yellow card tactic...

HEre's my solution:

3 extremely simple fixes to this exploit (we'll never see because PES needs to sell....)

No.1: If you press the pass button too early your player should air-kick. There's far too much arcadey button spamming. We need to return to skilfully timed play.

No.2: the power bar doesn't bloody work. Full power should result in a massively over hit pass. So for the idiots that just hold it down to punt the balls into space, they're now going to have to MEASURE their passes correctly.

no.3: choose from simulation or arcade mode. SEPERATE US FROM THESE PEOPLE. Create 2 MLO's. 2 ranked leagues etc etc. People who enter simulation PES 2014 will be not able to adjust their pass support from ZERO etc etc etc. Can you imagine such a paradise where people try to play football?? I haven';t experienced this since PES6 when I was perma camped in lobbies playing like-minded individuals.

But the thing that really drives me insane is why do people play this way? What possible enjoyment do you get out of the game? This is why I won't go to MLO as there is so much more at stake. In 2v2 ranking I've seen around 1% of lag disconnects. Everyone else plays the full 90.

When we are flowing we are destroying these idiot teams as these people's fear of playing drives them to releasing the ball asap. So R1+X pressing is very effective as no one turns on the ball. Played a lot of very memorable matches but also a lot of pad destroying ones too lol.

But we are still getting caught out by the throughball. But when we do I repay them with the same tactic...it's only fair right Konami?

It's been a while, but I just wanted to follow up on this since it is something which I still consider a problem. That being said, I have made some improvements that are really helping that I wanted to share.

For starters, I have read everything on this forum on this subject as well as others, and I will say that in my opinion there isn't one solution which really solves the problem completely. If you're looking for a complete and total one-stop fix, I'm afraid to say that it probably doesn't exist.

That being said, all of the suggestions people have made combined (including manual control) do really make the game much more enjoyable, even against the worst spammers. The big thing though that nobody has really clearly stated previously, but which may just be my opinion is simply the importance of speed in the back line. After growing frustrated with none of the suggestions really working as well as I had hoped, I went and took a look at things myself by saving numerous through-ball/breakaways and watching them in slo mo in the instant replay gallery. What I noticed actually surprised me. I had thought that the problem was more a case of defenders being in poor positions, but in the majority of replays I was shocked to see that the defender was actually starting in a normal, or even excellent position when the throughball was played. So, in all these cases it was a matter of asking, "why, in god's name, would any striker latch onto a ball played like that when the defender is in the proper position?!!?!"

The answer isn't 100% clear however. I noticed in some cases that the defending AI seemed to take a long time to turn from facing the ball to running to catch the striker (who by that time was miles ahead of them). In other cases I could see a small glitch in the movement of the defender, as if they stopped for a moment to tie their shoelaces, and let the striker blow past them and be free on goal. This might be just due to player switching, but my point is that all the talk about the defensive line being too high is not 100% correct in my view now. In fact, I'm playing with a deep defensive line (0) and pretty smart defenders, and I can say that I believe that positioning isn't the biggest part of the issue, or at least it isn't the ENTIRE issue.

All this being said, when I watched all these replays I started to notice that in almost all of the cases I said to myself that "speed would help." That's not to say that the problem is necessarily the lack of speed of the defenders, but rather that IF your defenders were fast enough, it might really help. So, I bit the bullet and purchased Perea, then several other defenders with 85 or more for top speed. I also tried to buy defenders who have high explosive power and responsiveness. I'm not sure if explosive power (acceleration) would help, but I thought it couldn't hurt since it is really essentially a problem of not being able to turn and accelerate quickly enough (regardless, most defenders don't have very high explosive power, but I'm just saying that I stayed away from those with lower than 75 if possible). Responsiveness too helps, but after this little adjustment to my MLO squad I can say that there certainly is a big improvement. If nothing else I can name several times when Perea of others have literally outpaced Vand Der Mirch or Eto and stopped a certain goal, and that is certainly something I had never been able to achieve prior to this change.

Anyway, it's just something I wanted to share because I don't think it has been stated very clearly in the past. Others have said "buy fast defenders" but for me anyway I like to understand why that is, and what the actual problem is, which I feel like I understand better now.

Note however that once you switch to fast defenders there is generally a trade off in their defensive awareness, because the likes of Perea for example have only 75 or so for def awareness. This translates into a noticeable downgrade in tackling ability in the back, which for me at first meant that I was unable to tackle players making mazy runs in the box who previously I would have been able to strip the ball off of quite easily. I've rectified this for the most part however by having tough-tackling sidebacks, like Vermaelen or Dunne (not true side backs, but you can see why I use them I think). This is especially helpful because most of the dribbling comes from out on the wings, but also because these SBs have high df awareness and will help in the middle of the pitch when needed as well.

Anyway, I hope this helps, and good luck with those spammers ;)

Yeah I went for the speedy center backs like Beria and perea and they worked well, but like you said, they aren't particularly good defensively (heading, tackling, positioning etc) Now I have CB's like Ramos, Cacares, Luiz and Kompany. hey are still fast enough but are very good defensively, and alot less opponent balls manage to make it through past the back line now.

I've also found 2 formations that surprisingly work very well that I always switch to if I see the opponent looks like a pace abuser/spammer

I go either 3-2 as the back line with RB CB LB then DM DM - I use de jong or song or mascherano as the DM and they cut out alot of the through balls.

I also use a formation that I saw a guy line up with once when he noticed that I had C ronaldo in the team (I don't through ball spam at all, he quickly changed tactics)

But that is 2 then 3 playing with RB LB then DM DM DM - this surprisingly really works. Both options mean you can have more players higher up the field and have alot more possession. Alot of the time spammers don't have a plan B which makes them an easy win.

So no CB at all!?? It makes sense though that more DMFs would cut out more long passes... Thanks.

By the way, Pepe and Koscielny are quite effective as better CBs, and I'm about to try Puyol, just to see.

Yeah no CB's at all.

If the opposition are playing with 3 upfront I will play with 1 Lb 1 CB 1 RB and 2 DM

if the opponent is playing with 2 or 4 forward players then I will play with no CB at all and just DM's.

It's annoying that such a tactic works so well though, I wish it was abit more realistic
