Special options and attributes for Keepers.

Basically I was editing Man United's goalkeepers and I was a little dissapointed to see that the ,majority of the attribute parameters are the same as outfield players.

Also seeing as several keepers have an individual style, it would be nice to have an option to reflect that (as with dribbling and freekicks etc)

Maybe something like:

One on one block: Leg (tackle), stand up, or star (like Schmeichel / Neuer)
Crosses : Punch two hands, punch one hand, catch.
Penalties: No movement, arms wide (Van Der Sar), bouncing on toes, or wobbly legs.
Goalkick movement (like freekick)

For attributes:

Command of area.
Catching ability.
Punching ability.
Distribution (Kicking).
Distribution (Throwing).
Kick power.
Throw power. (Neuer can hurl the ball into the opposition half)
1 V 1
Crosses.
Set peices (ability to set walls, read freekick shots etc)

I was thinking this but not really on such a specific and designed standard. I was thinking of removing the option to bring the keeper out for balls and replacing it with a stat called 'Judgement' maybe? This would then add the increased importance of having a good keeper. They would only come out for balls they know they would reach, compared to weaker keepers, who may misread the ball and get beaten to it by the attacker based on their poor judgement. Just a thought.

Also, how would this work for people who normally play outfield but could fill in in goal if the keeper gets injured/sent off? Some outfield players can play in goal at a worse case scenario but this would mean either having two seperate ability sections (One for Outfield and one for Keepers) or having a largely increased main ability section. :/

Goalies have been neglected for years though. Having four different passing attributes and then just bundling 'Keeper skills' together as one is really lazy.

They have always benefited from the 'invisible' barrier that stops players challenging keepers. I'd like to see that addressed.

I would like special goalkeeper attributes, but even if we don't get any at the very least I would expect a "error proneness" as something like a weak foot accuracy thingie for players and such.

I mean we all know different keepers have different error proneness, for example gomes makes many mistakes etc..

The only stats that are crucial for keepers apart from the obvious ones are response and body balance.

It's the sort of attributes mentioned on this thread that would remove the issues with keepers once and for all.

It would make it almost mathematical whether a keeper saves a ball or not rather than the "error proneness" they currently have in the code (not the keepers stats). This solution would seem mechanical if there weren't enough stats, but Championship/Football Manager has proven enough stats make it realistic.

E.G. Your keeper may have the agility and quick enough responses to get down to a low ball to the corner in time, but if he has poor punching ability he may not be able to stop it going in the net, swap these stats around and you have a keeper who is capable of punching but can't get there in time. (so there would still be variety)

It would also make the goalkeepers more lke their real life counterparts - for example De Gea could be more vulnerable to long shots, and Neuer weak at low shots. Then you could employ realistic tactics - such as if a keeper is weak at crosses, you'd keep pumping aerial balls in to the box.

It would also be great to see the likes of Schmeichel (legend) or Neuer doing the "starjump" in one on ones to block the ball.
