I haven't tbh. Although I'm not quite sure what Fergie has in mind for him this season, so it's a possibility. He has unreal talent, but is raw and quite wasteful.

Should be an easy game for your defense today. Spurs have just one striker fit for the match... Peter Crouch.

I hope the rest are back in time for Wednesday.

Just been working out some formations for us after the window.

I now have an erection and feel that our best formation is probably:

Sorensen

Wilkinson - Huth - Shawcross (c) - Collinsinho

Pennant - Whitehead - Wilson/Delap - Etherington

Gudjohnsen - Jones

Eidur and KJ can drop off alternatively, both are capable of playing deeper or on the shoulder.

Couldn't fit all the subs I wanted on the bench either :joel:.

First Premiership season he was good, last season he went off the boil. He only really has performed for Ireland. His range of passing has really gone to the shitter lately. Good backup to have though.

I wouldn't expect much from Pennant. He was quite poor at Zaragoza, and I can see him eventually having a run in or two with Pulis. He may surprise me though.

I can see Wilson fitting in very well in centre midfield.

I've been impressed with Walters so far, so hopefully he will get some more opportunities in spite of Stoke's new attacking signings.

I see a new poll has been added to this thread.

What's up with Tuncay? Is he out of favour?
Yeah, pretty much. Walking down the tunnel after being subbed on three occasions caused some friction I'm sure, despite Pulis denying it. He never really established himself, although it could be argued opportunities haven't been too forth-coming for Tuncay.

He's a great option though, as he'll put so much pressure on defenders due to his work-rate. I'm not convinced he's quite clinical enough to be relied heavily upon, and I'm not sure he's too brilliant for our system, but the guys a great talent.

He'd probably be superb in a free-role in the hole, or on the wings of a front three. But we play quite a taught formation so it's hard to shoe-horn him into that. There's something about Tunny I really like though.

Pennant's one 'for the dogs home' as Pulis said about Etherington. No-one wanted Matty because of his baggage and mentality when we signed him, but he's become an integral part of our game. Hopefully Pennant's time abroad will have given time for perspective and realise this could be his last opportunity to fulfill his undoubted potential.

We've been dying for a right-winger recently, and Pennant's got what we need. We play the cage in midfield so much of our attacking play has to come from wide, and it's promising to have options on both flanks now.

Also, Fuller's offered Pulis as many headaches as any player has done in recent times and he's managed him brilliantly and he's still a key piece in our jigsaw. Hopefully Jermaine can have a similar effect to what Ric has had here.

I agree regarding Wilson, and with age and everything considered he could be a great player for us in the long-term.

I've been impressed with Walters so far, so hopefully he will get some more opportunities in spite of Stoke's new attacking signings.

Yeah, as I said to you, I expected very little from Walters so for him to come and have made the impact which he has done has been extremely impressive. Possibly him starting with no expectations from the fans helped him to just do his thing with no weight around him, and therefore settle in nicely.

He reminds me of an upgrade on Cresswell when he was here. Lots of enthusiasm, quite strong and versatile in the attacking areas. Excellent addition to the squad thanks to his versatility.

And nice one on the poll you twonk.

My prediction is that Stoke will finish in the top half of the table, maybe top ten. That would be an excellent achievement, having 2 very good solid years in the Premiership in a row. I dont think last years position was a fluke.

Good luck Nath to you and your boys

Didnt realise you had Pennant - God help you, he is a parasite and will do his utmost to cause problems. He isnt that good as a player either - you dont need him

Thank you for reading.

This, pretty much word-for-word is what I came here to say.

Huw, we've been playing Delap at right-wing. Surely Pennant can't do a worse job there?!
Its been a few years since Ive seen him but he is a cancer. He will undoubtedly have a row or two with Pulis and probably get to know your local Police.

As a player he is lazy, wont tackle, is deceptively slow and doesnt look up - apart from that he will be fine

I've got no real love for Stoke or Pulis, but fair play to him for turning up despite his mother dying earlier today. Deserves a lot of respect for that, especially when you have cunts like Rooney who can't be arsed to play just because he couldn't keep his dick in his trousers.

Fucking ace, weren't it Dale?!

Pulis is such a hero, given the circumstances, to come from Newport to lift the whole team and stadium and I genuinely believe it inspired everyone to to get the win.

Ricardo too, he just keeps on doing it. The game totally changed when Ricardo came on. He linked up brilliantly with Jones and Etherington. Jones played well and was good value for his goal, he had a couple of half-chances which he made Friedel work for, probably should've done better with the one-on-one in the first half. Brilliant pass from Wilson for that like.

Midfield was in and out of the game, Whitehead in particular. Ultimately though, his contribution was a part of us scoring so props to Deano. Wilson was steady and unspectacular, but the glimpses he showed were really encouraging. He's not quite ready to be a first-teamer I don't think, but he's a long-term option for us. Delap just can't do it on the wing, but he's still got a lot to offer in the middle. Etherington was superb, worked the line really well and tried to get into dangerous zones. Pennant impressed me with his willingness to track back and help Huth out, I wasn't sure if he'd offer that. He helped turn the game, with the option to attack down both wings with him and Matty it gave us the needed variety.

As for defence, Huth just isn't a full-back. He drifts in too much and that gave them their goal. Albeit well-taken from Downing, it was a gift. Shawcross just is missing a touch of form. Don't get me wrong, he didn't have a bad game but he didn't seem as assured and confident as he has done previously. It'll come though, I'm sure. Much better from Faye too, his composure has been back this season. I think he's fully free from injury for the first time in about 10-12 months and it really shows. The way he pulled the high ball into the channel out of the air was the Abdy we all now and love, and missed last season. I'm a Danny Collins fan, and he gets a lot of stick here, but tonight I thought he put in a really good shift. Couple of important blocks and tackles. The usual numpties behind wouldn't get behind him though.

Although it may be brief due to being an early kick-off, a win against West Ham on Sunday would put us into 6th. The team Ii'm sure we're going to go with would be:

Sorensen

Huth Shawcross Faye Collins

Walters Delap Whitehead Etherington

Jones Fuller

Eidur and Pennant to come on and be the impact men.

Yeah fair play to Pulis, it must've been hard for him - as you alluded to Nath that's probably what inspired the team.

LOL @ the poll on this thread tho, who's genius was that?
