Possibly so mate, certainly can't see another man being quite as loyal as Pulis was.

Rafa the current favourite, which would be exceptionally good work, but I still can't see it. Bould would make a good choice if we want to head towards more of a coach than manager. There was talk of Steve Davis at Crewe too, but that's one hell of a step up.

Is this exciting times or worrying times?

I think a change was needed. Despite everything Pulis had done to make Stoke a stable Premier League team things just seemed a bit stale this year, stagnant. Next year would either have been the same or worse. He'd spent quite a lot of money too.

The thing is, what next? The right change could freshen things up and be a change for the better, but if they get it wrong it could be a relegation fight next season. Look what happened to Charlton when they got rid of stable Curbishley and tried to freshen up.

Looking at the odds, there may well be a lot of potential managers available just now, but it's hard to pick one who'd be right for Stoke, they've all got their flaws.

So, back to the question in my first line. At first glance, exciting times. Look a bit deeper, it's worrying. What do you think?

The next appointment is definitely going to have to be a one that can't work within a transitional period.

Look at when Allardyce left Bolton, his long-ball culture was so ingrained into the club that when Sammy Lee took over and tried to improve the style of play it couldn't be done over night and his reign was a disaster. So whoever comes in won't be able to do that over night.

Alan Pardew would be perfect actually.

Breaking news going around the internet that Sheffield United have signed Florent Cuvelier on a 3 year deal, undisclosed fee.

Belgium under-21 international :w00t .. Any good, Stoke fans?

Florent never actually played a first team game with us. He was involved with pre-season tours, but was little more than squad filler for that.

He certainly seems talented, having captained Belgium u19s and turning down Man City and Spurs previously. Had a great spell on loan at Walsall so should do well for you.

I hope we have a sizeable sell-on fee, or buy back clause in there somewhere.

So... Shaqiri joins Stoke. Never thought I'd be saying that a few years back.

It's certainly a big moment for this club, and shows how far they've come. Fans must've been concerned when Pulis left, but Mark Hughes seems to be doing a great job also.

It's a strange one with Shaqiri in relation to how he's ended up at Stoke. Obviously, the guy has the ability on his day, but, given he only joined Inter Milan some 6 months ago, does this suggest that he may be past his best, or is a lazy player?

And how have Stoke managed to get him, when the likes of Liverpool/Spurs/Everton could have been in for him?

It's certainly going to be fascinating to see how Shaqiri does at Stoke. The more attacking talent that comes to the Premier League, the better :D

Shaqiri is going to have to learn to adapt to his new club which may take some time.

Needs to focus on building up his fists ,knees, elbows and forehead.

Haha, a glance at that article let's you misread that they've sold 22 Shaqiri shirts. Yep, that would probably do it for the record!

Does it matter? It's not like they would have ever expected to see a player of that quality at their club.
