Decent session last night, calling for the ball, the team shape and (particularly my) finishing was a problem early on but we got it together and played very well later on.

I just wanted to clarify on the penalty, I was taking my time and waiting for the perfect timing and instead the power bar disappeared and the CPU took it for me. Fucked me right off, I would also like to apologise for my general shit performance.

You lot on tonight?

Cheers Jo but it didn't happen, might try for a run after the Gunners game tonight if you're still playing. I'll play any where on the park where you need help.

Will be on in 20mins or so. Hope I can actually get a decent session tonight! :(

Okay, two things which really started fucking me off in the last few games last night and which isn't entirely new:

-Can the midfielders play in midfield and not attack? At one point yesterday I had to sprint from attack back into defence to foil a counter-attack with a sliding challenge just outside the area because somehow the midfieldeers were ahead of me in the attacking play. Not an isolated incident. Bishop and Bammers one of you making runs is fine, occasionally both of you, but for the love of fairness, can you rotate which one makes them during the course of a match?

-Incessantly calling for the ball has got to stop. Now. I can understand it if the CPU has the ball in defence and is under pressure but I counted 14 occasions last night when I was through on goal or clear down the wing and called for the ball only to find a call had been issued before the CPU had clearly won possession and the receiver ended up being tackled. It'll happen sometimes and none of us are perfect but its happening far too often and I don't know about anyone else in the team but it is grating on me.

It pains me to admit, but your crossing seems very good indeed Sweey. Come back, all is forgiven; you know I'd be banging them in. We attack and call in moderation.

Cheers Barn.

I remember back in FIFA 10 I think it was, crossing to your VP's head with regularity. Struggled with crossing in 11 and early days with 12 but I appear to have gotten the hang of it now.

I'm sure we'll end up on the same team again one day :ninja:

Fair points, Sweey. I wasn't really at the races yesterday evening tbh - probably my worst night of Clubs games for a while. For some reason I was running all over the place, when I should have been more positionally disciplined. The only reason I can think of is that I didn't trust the CPU LF at all. Still, I'll try and rectify that in coming matches.

You're right about calling for the ball. I don't think I do it so much in attacking positions, but if the CPU defenders have the ball, I trust my own distribution far more than them, so I sometimes go deep and call for the ball then. Still I'll try and be more careful in future. The whole calling-for-the-ball-before-the-CPU-player-has-it thing happens, I think, because, sometimes, if you don't call the ball, the CPU just leaves it, which can lead to dangerous situations, so I prefer sometimes to call for the ball beforehand, to make sure the CPU actually gets to the ball. I'll try and look around before doing so in future.

One more thing, I'd like to add - we've always prided ourselves on possession football and keeping the ball. I felt, yesterday, we were a bit too impatient and were looking for the quick counter-attack most of the time. Counter-attacks are fine when the passes are on and when you have quick players up front - our only quick player online yesterday was Sweey - so I felt that, overall, we needed to be a bit more patient and slower in our build-up, rather than trying to hit them on the break all the time. Possession football has the added bonus that it's harder for the opposition to outnumber us on the break, as happened several times last night.

I'm sure you could tell I didn't trust it either. When Original? is on you see me pop up on the left perhaps five times per night rather than five times per game.

Probably a case of just waiting a second or two (if the situation allows) and then calling for it if the CPU still has it. At least its given some sort of chance to someone esle. Not all the time either, sometimes calling immediately is the right thing to do. We all do it incorrectly at times, there's no point suggesting otherwise. I've had some abysmal moments when calling.

Fair point. Joel, Original? and I all have pace but with the two of them not on last night, we needed to alter slightly in some games.

I was going to switch to 4-3-1-2 last night and either play at CAM or alongside Berry due to the lack of three forwards online. Probably worth considering if two out of the three of us aren't on.

Last night was pretty frustrating, only scored the one goal but then again I didn't have any genuine goalscoring opportunities apart from that, so did well in that case. Was a great ball to find me too, Bammers.

The CPU was shocking in that game we lost in the dying seconds too, couldn't clear a ball for shit

Hopefully tonight will bring more fortune and we get some more wins under the belt.

Just let me know if you're playing lads and I'll most likely get on for then.

I did bomb forward a bit last night but only because we were struggling up front without Joel's pace and Original's ball retention. Usually I hold back a bit and let Bammers make the forward runs as he probably carries more of a goal threat.

The only real time I call for the ball is when the keeper has it in his hands and I know I'm wide open. Hardly ever use it in open play so that isn't an issue for me.

Was out all day yesterday and when I got back it was late and had no internet, so couldn't make clubs.

Should be on tonight though, if you guys are around.

Seems it's a bit of a wasteland tonight. Sweey is probably pissed off, Bam is on Skyrim and Bishop is... beating his bishop (I dunno)?
