What is the best way to defend?

My defensive players leave the strikers to much space (this is in defensive area as also in the midfield)!!
This is not about the sliders.....but i think a button combination or something else!!

When i play against some players online, they are all over the place and play very tight against my players, so i do not have any room to play!!

Please help!!!???

Yes, I'd be interested to hear anyone's advice/opinion on this.

Some games I can barely complete a pass I'm so tightly marked, whereas the opposition has plenty of space. Sometimes it feels like I'm playing against 12 men.

Are players simply using the 'man-mark' setting? Or some specific tactic or slider setting?

Do you have some tip about the defence, I play a lot against player who are very tight at my attackers (it is not manmarking and no tactical sliders) ??
When I look at my defensive players they leave the strikers to much space to turn and do their thing.....so the defence is killing me....

THX FOR ANY KIND OFF TIP........

It sounds like your being pegged back in your own half, so your defense is naturally dropping deep because of the constant pressure of you losing the ball and them attacking. As a result, they'll have a high back line which will make their defenders tight on your attackers, while your defenders are giving his attackers more space as he's camped in your half, and your defenders are sitting deep.

It sounds like you need to know how to play yourself out of trouble and attack better. That might sound counter intuitive, but I think its your use of the ball and attacking you need to get better at rather than your defending - well, for the moment anyway. You need to force him back into his half to get more room yourself. Your constantly losing the ball while under pressure and that's how your problems are happening.

Try creating a custom tactic with 'Player support' at 20 and 'Support range' at 0. This will bring your players closer to you so you can pass yourself quicker and more accurately out of trouble.(This is optional, but for the moment it might allow you to learn and understand how to play yourself better out of trouble.)

You also need to try to exploit a weakness of his constant attacking. That is, his high defensive line. Create one two's to get your players making runs to allow for through balls in behind his defense. Put players on manual runs also. Try not to put centre backs on runs as this will leave you exposed at the back if you lose the ball. Making runs will also cause players of his to be pulled out of position, which can be used as a decoy to create space elsewhere.

When passing balls to attackers who're tightly marked, try to quickly create a one two with them to get behind the defense, or protect the ball with your back to the defender until a teammate of yours becomes available to pass to. Don't try too much to beat the defender straight away with your attacker - one way you can though, is to hold sprint and press the stick diagonally to the side of the defender to beat him with a burst of speed. Not guaranteed especially if your tightly marked.

By attacking better, you'll peg him back into his half. You'll have a higher defensive line with his attackers having less space and your attackers having more in his half.

Edit: Try to not panic when your trying to counter attack out of your defense when under pressure on the ball. Don't just pass the ball out of hope some player of yours gets it, 9 times out of 10 you'll lose possession and be in trouble again. Hold it up if you have to until someone is free, or check your radar to see if someone is free across the pitch.

Thank you very much for your help I will give it try!!

I`m also in trouble when the attacker gets the bal and turns easelly away from me...what would you recommend for using for defence (i`m playing on X-Box360) hold green or blue or both or nothing or hold the RB for sprinting???

1. Your running in on him to get the ball too quickly. If your doing this all the time your also going to become very predictable and beaten everytime.

2. Just hold 'A' and get close to the attacker, especially if he has his back to you when he receives the ball because he can turn you very easily if you rush in. Sometimes you just need to hold up the attacker to see what he's going to do. Just make sure that your not so close that he'll beat you, or too far away that he has too much time and room to do what he wants easily. Other times you can just rush in, but you've got to learn when to and when not to.

3. You need to put some pressure on him by doing the above and wait for an opportunity to run in and tackle by holding sprint and 'A'. Be patient, your opportunity to tackle will come quicker than you think.

4. You've also got to know when to abort the tackle if you find your not going to make it or else you will be turned and beaten. Just let go of sprint but keep hold of 'A' to move yourself back into a good holding position as I've mentioned in point 2.

5. Lastly, this is just as important as the rest. You need to know when to use the tackle that you pull off by double tapping 'A'. I use this just as much as sprint plus 'A'. As in point 4., if you find your not going to make the tackle, you can as an alternative double tap 'A' to make the tackle yourself. That is extremely effective, instead of just trying to reposition yourself all the time like point 4.

Also, I use it if I'm running in to do the normal tackle but do it instead. Again, very effective.

Lastly, as in point 2 when your holding up the attacker and your close. Alternatively, double tap 'A' to lunge for the ball rather than running in with sprint and 'A'. Lots of players don't expect this as they think your going to run in and make the tackle.

It'll take you a while to get used to using the double tap tackle without giving away fouls, but its crucial to know as the normal tackle(sprint and 'A') just won't cut it 50% of the time as the attacker can get away from you. You need to be good at both types of tackles though, especially the normal tackle.

Be patient in defense and try not to make rash decisions, although sometimes you can't help it if the other player is very good. You need to learn properly yourself the situations when all the things I mentioned need to be used. When you do you'll be in control of your defense more often than not.
