The 'How are you doing at Become A Legend mode' thread.

There was a similar thread in the PES 2009 section which was very much loved and it was quite interesting to read how everyone is performing in their virtual world. I'm taking the initiative to start this thread in 2010 section and everyone is welcomed to write their own progress in this 'Become A Legend' mode. I shall start with mine.
First of all I'd love to say that the improvements are brilliant according to me. I was already addicted to this mode in PES 2009. My only issues were,
1. The mistakes by AI in gameplay
2. Camera problem where a striker couldn't see what is going on at the back in WIDE camera mode. This led me to make an AMF despite of SS being my favourite position just so that I could have the exposure of almost entire field.
3. No Champions League in it.
4. Being substituted in every single game for the first 5-6 years no matter how well you play.
And other tiny things...
Well, in PES 2010, I started with a new AMF and played my first game. The camera movement in WIDE mode immediately caught my eye. I got the idea that with this improvement I can make an SS who can have absolutely brilliant positioning since the ball movement is totally visible everywhere on the field. I wont have to keep looking into the radar and wait into the box and try to guess where the winger would cross...why? because I can see exactly what the winger is trying to do and I can change my position to receive a nice cross. So? There I go immediately and make SS. The gameplay is amazing and the AI reacts to your movement amazingly. I no more get irritated with AI's mistakes because they give me the ball when and where I want most of the times.
So, the camera is brilliant now, champions league is there, AI is really really improved a lot, what more do I want...?
I was man of the match in my scout match with 7.0 rating after assisting the winning goal. West Ham United is the club I have selected. 10 training matches done and still no luck. It turns out, scout match was the best game I had. I've been struggling like hell since then. I don't even remember whether I've scored in these games (I'm a striker after all). :D :D
But it is seriously enjoyable..a 17 year old struggling as a striker and trying to beat the likes of Carlton Cole to get into the first team. ;)
The gameplay is really difficult to me as far but I'll surely be focused and make my way to the bench soon. :)
Here are the pictures of my player's current status. I was too happy with my initial stats. :D And ya.. difficulty = Top Player.
...

...

Comments awaited people. It would be great to read everyone's progress really...

First of all, a question:

Can't we choose Other Teams A on BAL? Are we limited to those 5 leagues? If so, that sucks, cause i wanted to play for Benfica :(

Anyway, I started my campaign today, a bit disappointed because of that Other Team issue, but had a pretty good scout match as a SS. Scored 2 goals (both long range shots, though. One was top shelf, the other was a huge blunder by the goalie :p) to tie the match and got a 7.5.

Then i went to Aston Villa, and so far i only had 2 training matches, one as a CF and one as SS, though they went terribly lol i can hardly do anything inside the box.

I don't want to spend much time playing, though, because i'm planning on using an OF when they come out, and don't want my progress to go to waste and get bored.

edit: just remembered that i don't have to lose the saved game when updating the OF, duh :p

Seems like SS is once again robbed of agility. I don't unerstand this at all when the most agile players in the game are all SS. Also seems like form and weak foot are forever stuck at 4. Hopefully they improve this area next year. Regardless I'm still very much looking forward to creating my legend :)

Good to hear it, but does it feel scripted like pes 2009? In that game your form is scripted no matter how well you're playing.

Really? I never experienced it in PES 2009. I used to get low form only after getting consecutive 5.5s or 6.0s...

^Sometimes I got 8.0 and in the following game my form suddenly went violet (bad). It happened more than once so it was obviously scripted to a certain point.

i feel its much harder to play BAL at the beginning of of career than PES2009 because technic are so much more important in PES2010 that it requires much more precise end products. In PES2009 you could just easily dribble around and pass like a master even stats are so shit at the beggining of the career.
But yeah I agree with Red Devil AI's mistakes are annoying. I am also annoyed when my team is attacking the player with the ball likes to walk into trouble.

Playing on Top Player

I chose to play at CF and after not having a particularly spectacular trial match I got a rating of 6.5 and accepted a contract offer from Stoke City..
It took me ten training matches and three goals to get onto the bench and a I have now become a first team regular. Im now in the second half of my first season. Ive made 14 first team appearences(1032 Minutes) and have scored 5 goals and Two Assists.

The team is struggling near the bottom of the table but happy with my progress so far.

P.S respect to Rosh for the bangin option file.

Kiwin Does BAL

(Top player) I created a AMF, 181cm 75kg. I started out in the italian league. I made a solid apperance in the scout match, which ended 0-0. Napoli, Genoa and Catania. I chose Catania cause the other teams wanted me as DM and WB. I started out decent in my training matches. Scored in my second match with a 7.0 rating as a result, after that it went downhill for me. Im struggling a bit against the other players, and due to my poor stats I have some issues trapping the ball before i get hammered...

After 9 training matches I was chosen to appear in the inter-squad game. but a poor match and a 5.5 rating set me back a few games. I needed another 5 training matches to get another inter-squad game, in which I made a solid appearence (6.5). I've been subbed in for the next 5 consecutive games for Catania, no goals, and no assists so far. My main focus is to atleast get the ball to my team members before I lose it due to my poor stats :)

I'm about halfway into season 1 now. And we are 11th in the liga.

When I downloaded the demo I thought lets see if PES2010 can cure me from my World of Warcraft Addiction. To my surprise the demo was really good ....not in comparisson to 2009 when i got owned 0-1 most of the games...It promised to be a good start...i won 8 of my 10 games...may'be i got better who knows...The only thing though that caught my attention was the pace of the game..I found it to be a bit fast...Yesterday I bought the game and like every year Seabass and his crew of misfits put something in there that annoys, last year it was the sound of the ball and the dreadfull-always on point-never receiving a card final tackle of the defenders. So i was preparing for something else. This is what I came with after playing 10 games now and ofc BAL that´s all I play:

Pro´s

- Graphics
- Sound of ball toned down
- Last tackle gone
- Your teammates ability to make a decent play and even running in the gaps ( I applaud Konami for that)
- Teammates defend the sides because 2009 was open season for AI on the sides
- Keepers rush out good
- Good pace
- Decent speed when you start

Cons
- Still in every wall on freekicks
- Corners never and I mean never come where you call em it always falls behind you or you have to start from edge of box and run in
- Teammates greedy on corners mostly fuck it up

Major Pain in the Ass
- Ball handling sucks ass...very difficult to cut and turn with ball..in 2009 i used to run diagonal and then cut and turn leaving my AI opponent like WTF and score in upper corner..now if I cut and turn the ball ping pongs off my feet
- Response ..player takes 4-5 steps before he takes a crack at the ball or make a cross..giving the AI time to launch you into stratosphere..that annoyed me in 2009 and they left it there to make the game a bit difficult but it´s freaking annoying..absolutely HATE IT
- Still the sub after 70 minutes.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..if i´m on the bench ok than it´s good but if I´m playing scoring 2 goals and 1 assist or if the game is 1-0 or draw and that happens..I want to throw away my game disc

Overall

2010 is better than 2009..If they had left out the 3 MPA factors I mentioned It would be the SHIT!!!

I feel that in this years installment you get punished even harder for having low skills than before, if your dribbling ability is low, defenders and midfielders will simply take the ball away from you just by looking in your direction.

It's also very unrealistic that you can never make a dribbling CF, SS or AMF as your agility starting value is so low that you will never become a very efficient one, no matter what.
CM or Winger are the only options for those who wants that kind of player, and also the fact that you can't start to dribble until your player has at least 80 in dribbling makes my veins in the forehead pop aswell.

I know that your player will get immensly good almost regardless of how you perform for the team over the years, but I believe I said something similar about this last year, no one starts out without talent and end up as "best of the best". or to put it lyrically, "A rat born in the stables will never become a stallion."
Because as I see it, your BAL player has nothing resembling talent when you start off, your shots are so weak that your attempts outside the box is mistaken for through balls by your striker friends.

Once a decent editor comes I will be able to rectify a few things to make the game enjoyable for myself though, and I think this years game is overall better than last years.

One thing though, playing BAL on "Top Player" is rather pointless, your team is stuck on "Professional" no matter wich difficulty you choose, and opponent teams will increase in ability as your player evolves.
"Regular" means less cheating by the AI, but can become too easy at the beginning, but it gets hard enough as your player evolves, and once you get your first 95 ability the opponents AI skyrockets and they will start to gangbang your player so you can forget about dribbling for the rest of your career.
"Professional" is great to start off with, but gets annoyingly hard after a while.

I manage fine on Top Player, but those golden moments where you manage to do something extraordinary that even looks realistic is almost gone. Most of my goals comes from rebounds and headers in this game mode.
After testing one season each on those three difficulty settings and hex edited my stats to watch the AI reaction to my players skill, I will definetly be playing BAL on regular this year, as it offers the most realistic "simulation" of the three and the least visible scripting.
