Thanks bill, that's what I was thinking.
This kind of features is missing.

I started a player career with Fifa11 and made up with a comparison table between the 2 games (I love tables).

See :

Fifa11 player career is really good but not being able to play with your national team is really a bad point.
I started one yesterday, and have had mixed feelings with it. Mainly because the AI is freakin' retarded. I almost barfed when I was watching Becks run straight at the opposition and continuously lose the ball. It is bad, real bad. BAP Seasons was much better when it came to the AI. Unfortunately, it was only for 4 seasons and nothing more. BAP Career has been a letdown for me.

I just hope BAL is better. But seeing how atrocious the AI is in FIFA in BAP, I don't think it should take much.

You should see the passing then. It's just as bad. I'm usually running down the middle of the pitch and then ask the AI to pass the ball to me. They usually will, but 25% of the time, they end up passing the ball out to the side of the pitch :brickwall: I'm running down the middle, so why oh why do you think I want the ball on the edge of the pitch. :realmad:

My qiuck summary of BAL would be , plain and simple far far too easy.
Played games 8 games scored 6 goals 3 in champions league and 1 in training match and the other 2 in the league ,this is on top player as well ,playing in dmf.
My player feels like a world beater already. Chose Stuttgart as first club, top of the league and in the champions league, im glad now the ai is a bit more intelligent and can spot the trough balls better, but what still annoys me is when the forward players get the ball 99% of the time they run forward on there own , even if they got loads of players to beat .

I chose attacking midfielder with the dribbling stats . But been playing dmf most and amf some times.
It was difficult to do good last year (2010) early on but now ,way too easy.

How are the starting stats chosen? Randomly? Do you have any influence in the distribution of your stats?

You get to pick what type of player you want.
Like for example - Dribbler - finisher - powerful player - creater - all rounder like that , thats not all of them though.
That determines your'e stats and cards , then you choose where to improve in training.

Thanks, Makavelian.

It sounds better than in PES 2009/10.

I am looking forward to playing BAL this year.

Hmm...

I've finished my first season and the impressions I get are mixed.

The game is better this year, no doubt.

But the AI is still shit.

Polished shit, it LOOKS like your teammates are playing smarter than before. But truth to be told, they're still pants-on-head retarded. The teammate AI programming is, sadly, not yet good enough to warrant a high grade from me.

They're constantly doing the same moves over and over, and said moves rarely work. Wingers often move out on the wings and try to either pass the ball in along the floor, which results in it landing at any random defenders feet, or they will try to cross it and always overshoot it which results in it landing any random defenders head.

There's also far, far too much difference between your teammates and the opposing players in terms of how they behave.

Please Konami, just equalise the behavioral AI for both sides. Please.

Well, it IS still better than last year but the risk is that it is easier to get bored with BAL this year.

Could be because you're playing on regular. Your teamates were that way anyways in 2009 and 2010. They were pretty stupid on top player but still miles better than the completely brain dead teamates on professional setting. Try a few matches on top player and see if things improve.

Purchased the game today. Spent the first hour just messing around the different edit modes etc.

Then I started up the BAL mode(top player). At first glance it looks much more polished and smooth than last year. And I love how you have influence of your starting stats. I played around with that for a bit, and ended up with my danish AMF. 64 overall stat, and in the mid 80s with dribbling and about 80 passing, Dribbling, passing, agility and technic are my only yellow stats from the get go.

I signed with Real Zaragoza from a list of 5-6 teams, where Zaragoza was the only team who played with a real AMF role. I'm still doing training matches and getting used to everything. But have had some decent games so far.

The increase in stats from the start this year compared to the previous installments has surely made the BAL mode much more enjoyable for the first season. The previous years I would skip all the games for the first 2-3 seasons until I had decent stats in order to actually be able to make an impact on the games.

EDIT: Just played my first league match, and suffered an injury 15 mins into the game. Will be interesting to see how long it will last.

One thing I hated about the previous BAL's was that regardless of the position you were playing, your team wouldn't score any goals unless you did it yourself. It sucked to play as a DMF and also be responsible for scoring every goal. Has this changed?

I'm playing as a CF, so I can't say if it's different for a DMF. But in my game my team plays great, scores plenty of goals for a few months. Then they become bad, really bad. I wouldn't mind being responsible for scoring the goals, if only I could get some support, but no. I've noticed that the clubs I play for suddenly change their formation to a variant of 4-5-1. In the first 2 months Man City played 4-4-2, but then they suddenly changed the formation to 4-5-1 and that's when the other players started to become really poor.

Guys when you're on defence, make sure to press square to make the CPU close down on opponents. The AI has vastly improved in this department and will make your defence impenetrable! I'm playing with Bolton and the difference between pressing square and leaving them alone is night and day.

This thread needs a bump.

I just started my BAL season as a CF playing for Getafe (Europe League and 87% playing opportunity). I only played a few matches so far; scored a few times.

I started out with a 74 overall rating. I wanted to know what you guys got when you started?

Also, CFs/SSs, how are you allocating your focus points?

can someone help me please, in my save with a SMF i filled the speed training to maximum and yet i not nearly as much points after game than i get at dribbling(also full).

any ideas why is that? btw, my speed stats are also lower than the dribble ones so i am very confused.

i started with a 72 rating as a CF.

for whoever mentioned the formation changing, i have experienced it in both teams i've played for so far, bolton and tott. in tott's case, it was a perfect 4 4 2 with defoe up front, or sometimes crouch or keane, but right before a transfer window closed, the team brought in iaquinta and started playing him on the side. the formation then changed to a 4 5 1 with 2 dmf, 2 sides, and 1 amf, and all of a sudden i'm alone up front. sometimes the "manager" plays keane or another CF in the amf position, and one of the dmf's is absolutely shite. it sucks balls right now but i still score occasionally cuz my shooting stats are like all in the 90s despite being 18.

fortunately, i'm also on the spain team and they play a brilliant 4 4 2 that sometimes flows very well. so that eases the pain. sometimes though i just drop my controller in awe at how terrible the AI is. at least it's somewhat playable now.

63 overall starting :(

My shooting stats were in the 80's and most of everything else was in the 60's. Man, some of you had insane starting stats, I'm jealous.

I chose to allocate a full six points into Stamina until I had 80 Stam. The other points were balanced out over Shooting, Power and Speed.

Amazing starting stats right there.

Anyway, I share your sentiments. I can sometimes curse loudly at the screen because the AI is dumb as shite.

But I'm still standing firm on believing that the game is better than last year.

God, I hope so! I was a DMF last year, and by the age of the 26, was the game's all-time Goal and Assist Leader, but not by choice! I've been planning on starting out as a CB this year, so life will be rough if it's still like it used to be. 8^|

I'm absolutely loving bal for a major change its a step in the right direction its more indepth not much but a lot more than previous I can now choose the type of mould of player I want to be now that for me is the absolute icing I am in real life a utility player I play defense midfield and ss I'm short but really strong something like gattuso and tevez mixed in one on the other pes games I could never resemble this but now success I'm loving it yeah it could be better. But hey after owning fifa for week before pes this is seriously a millions times better and imwith newcastle and on top player as a side midfielder and I can say that ai is much more intelligent not perfecctbut a lot more better that's my view on it so far

Started a new BAL today as a CF on Top player. Signed for Lazio who were in Europa League. Have been gettin a few games mainly as a sub. Lazio have played about 10 games so far (not including friendlies) and I managed to get my first and only goal (so far) against Juventus. Came on a sub when 1-0 down and scored after running on to a lovely through ball to slot past Buffon!

I really like the improvements from last year as this is a mode I really enjoy and get in to. The managers instructions are a feature that I think is needed as it gives you an understanding of what is expected of you. Also I think you overall play helps towards you rating instead of last year where it was just about scoring goals or getting assists. On two occasions I have been praised for my contribution towards goals in one game I was brought down on the edge of the area and we scored from the free-kick and my winning of the free kick was mentioned at the end of the game.

So far all is good in the world of BAL. We are 3rd in Siere A have W1-L1 in Europa League and won 2-0 in first leg of Coppa Italia against Napoli

the AI definitely scores for you, that's not a problem in this version. however, they have a hard job getting the ball up to the final third, and you'll have to participate to get the ball up to a scoring position. this is where the AI's flaws show most. kinda funny when defenders pass it back and forth between each other only to lose it in the end but that's BAL 2011 for ya

I've yet to find it.

You can change the ball for certain cups in some Edit menu, but no in the leagues.

It's kinda like the Champions League/Europa League balls last year, they're set.
