Have had a read through this thread, and I agree with all of you on everything.
How can PES 2014 be a better game than PES 2013?
I have taken PES 2014 out of my PS3 and chucked PES 2013 back in, what a difference!! PES 2013 is so much better than 14!!
You have so much more control in 13 than 14!

This is true...and absolutely baffling. I honestly can't believe that after all this time and effort they've made a worse game than last year. It doesn't make any sense :laugh:

You can still switch players with RS at least with semi assisted cursor change you can and then l1 + RS with manual control of the other player you can make your player run whatever direction

Pretty much had it with this game. Ever since it was ported onto the next gen consoles it has been let down after let down. Wish I had not parted company with 50 pounds and downloaded it. But it is done now.
The things I hate:
New kick outs, free kicks and corner kicks. Don't like this idea of having an indicator for set pieces. I miss the old power bar. It worked as far as I am concerned.
Dumb AI. I am in a constant battle with the stupid AI. It is imposed upon myself and I find myself using super cancellation more than what I should have too.
Classic Players. Why have you decided to make european classics and world classics. What was wrong with classic netherlands, france etc. I know people will perhaps come up with a patch but why have you went this route? It means you have left out players such as Gullit, Van Basten, Ruud Krol, Brehme etc
No unlockable content. I have just had a look to see if perhaps I had missed this but there is no unlockable content. I used to enjoy unlocking the classic players and other unlockable content.
Undoubtedly a whole lot more wrong this game. I will not be playing it now, already fed up with it after a few plays. I think I will be giving the football a miss, I had been previously buying PES every 2 years in the hope it would get better. For the majority it has been been very disappointing. It has had a few moments were I thought it was getting better again but then the following year they take it in another direction. I have read through the many posts on this thread and it seems to highlight a few of the problems I myself dislike.

LOL, in theory maybe. I sound like a typewriter as I ferociously try to switch player *tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap*, then after some 4-5 presses of a button the player gets changed, but oh, the COM just scored a goal on me meanwhile....doh!
It truly feels like a lottery if I win a game or not, it has little to do with my skills but rather if the COM decides to pull a through-ball-run on me or not, something which I - thanks to the above - cannot defend against.
Is it me or is this game unplayable with advanced through ball? When I play with basic through ball I piss on the AI even on superstar, but with advanced through ball it seems is if my players don't have a clue where to run and lose the ball much more easily. I am hardly creating chances with it.
Today I started a new ML with actual teams. At the end of the first season my guys got to the final of the UEFA Cup. So I decided to actually play a match before quitting for the day. It was me (~87 skill team) vs Liverpool. They had Reina on goal, I forgot to transfer him to Napoli.
Well, I ate them alive, it was 60-40 possession with ~25(15) shots on my part and 2(1) shots on their part. Their shot off goal was due to a stupid pass from my goalie.
But nothing went in! I shot at Reina with world class strikers, I blasted the ball from five meters out, I tried long shots, I tried headers (from the small penalty area), I tried everything - and nothing worked. He saved every shot that went on goal, and to add insult to injury, my players regularly failed to hit the goal from decent shooting positions.
In PES'13 I would have won with 4-5 goals difference. Some people say shooting was overpowered in PES'13, and perhaps that is true, but at least good goalscoring opportunities felt exactly like good goalscoring opportunities - and the goalies could not consistently parry cannon blasts from inside the penalty area.
In the end I won on penalties :/.

Yeah, I give up on this game. It's just too frustrating. The players never do what one wants them to do, the way they did in the previous editions. One time the opposite goalkeeper makes 10-15 impossible saves, and then he lets in a simple ball. One time your midfielder just walks through the enemy defense, the next moment mediocre centre-backs dispossess Ibrahimovic and Messi time and time again. You make a perfect pass and your player stops just in front of the ball and waits for the defender to catch up and get the ball. You push RS-LS, and one time out of ten the player executes a perfect feint; but most of the time he does not even try to feint and just loses the ball...
It often feels like I'm not the one who's playing. Rather, the game is playing itself, and I'm just watching.
In the ML, I bought Fabregas, Neymar, and Messi within two years and won the treble in my third season :/. I can never spend more money than I make. What's the point?
This game reminds me of PES2008 - the new changes are welcome, but the game is too unpolished and unresponsive. Next year's edition will likely be great. But I think I won't play this one too much.

Oh, yeah - and I bought Messi for 24 mil, but managed to sell Maicon for 12 mil and Balzaretti for about 8 mil. How can one sell two aging full-backs, both of them subs by the time I sold them, one of them not even that good to begin with, for the price of the best player in the game (and possibly in history) in his prime?

Also, I won without buying any recycle jobs. By the time I quit at the end of my 3rd season, I acquired a recycled Lampard on a free transfer. He was rated ~93 - i.e. he was better than all but 4-5 midfielders in the game. At 16. OK...

Is it just me or have they fixed ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in PES despite the years of negative feedback and suggestions from the fanbase?
Coming into this thread is like deja vu, it's almost exactly the same complaints I've been reading about since PES 2008.
After the ridiculously OTT hype about the new engine being a fix for just about every flaw PES ever had this surely has to be one slap in the face too many for a lot of PES fans?
Or will the seemingly never ending cycle of "they'll get it right next year" continue?
If ever there was an example of the gaming industry, or any industry for that matter, taking vast swathes of cash yet giving very little back to it's incredibly loyal fans in return it has to be PES. I mean EA takes a lot of flak, rightfully so, but surely Konami have now overtaken them as the ultimate piss taking champions of the gaming industry?
PS Let me just be clear, this is NOT a PES vs FIFA argument. I also think FIFA is pretty crap, I'm merely pointing out the fact that EA takes a hell of a slagging for it's output whereas Konami seem to get off pretty lightly.

Can anyone tell if if brazils legendary defenders face (Lucio) who plays for Sao Paulo now is a random face or his face?
If its a random generic face will it be fixed with a patch and when?
Its hard for me to tell ig its the final look that he has now because I don't think that face looks like his:no:

So much for the latest xbox 4mb updates. Now the online one two is buggy. When I pass it to the other player for a one two he decides to try to pass it(in some stupid direction) even though I haven't pressed anything. Konami, I hope this crap is fixed in the november patch, ye're doing your best to ruin the best footy game ever with all these mounting online bugs.

konami rushed the game out because there listening to adam bhatti and his bulls* if they just waited till october thered be no problem all fixed and happy but no rush a half finished game out to compete with fifa and f*ck the loyal 15yr plus iss/pes gamers.

Hang on though, these problems have been evident in just about every version of PES that has been released on this generation of tech and no amount of patching has ever fixed them so what makes you think an extra few weeks in development for PES 2014 would have solved them all?
I agree that they have released the game too early because it's clearly an unfinished product but isnt that what Konami do every year?
I am constantly surprised by people who buy PES games year on year yet expect a different result to the one they get every single time. The games are ALWAYS unfinished and ALWAYS need serious patching. I could just about understand the seriously misplaced optimism regarding the Fox Engine before the game was released because it was an unknown quantity but FFS guys things like the problems listed above have been in PES for years now! So why are you surprised when you find them in the latest version?
