Yeah PES has been a bastard for the whole "yellow card for fucking everything" syndrome in recent years.

Slight bit of contact on a mistimed tackle? Yellow card. Repeatedly stamped on his head whilst screaming "DIE N** F****T!!"? Also yellow card.

c'mon matt, watch the N word. I edited.

but if you want to avoid yellow cards, play as City, you can hack someone down and no penalty. Horrible coding that it happens in this way

Racism bad, homophobia ok tho? I felt it was the only combination of words that adequately painted the picture I was after.

Anyway to the main point, I've not noticed actual team bias. Do you really think that is in there? That would be a monstrously crap idea if so.

So you had! So the opposite question to you, Alibear! You think racism's okay? Where were you the night Chelsea were away at PSG??

I was wrong in not editing the homophobia tbh, it wasn't until I reread that i picked up on it.

as far as PES is concerned, the game certainly plays favor to certain teams. Played a season as Palace, then Villa, then City. Rare fouls called against city compared to the others, and the CPU defenders let through balls connect for City they wouldn't for others.

The CPU attacks differently as well. Against Villa and Palace it is that crazy CPU move along the endline that is unstoppable. But against City the CPU will always cross it in versus the cheating.

There is a remarkable difference in the way CPU plays overall when using a better team, to your benefit.

I have the same idea IronCity, better teams tend to cross the ball as opposite to the superhuman winger runs.

Also, your own teammates behave differently if you are on a supposed bad or good team. Having the exact same squad, tactic, etc, being no. 1 club and all that, with Reading or Man Utd, for example, is completely different

Really tried to like this game

I really really did

There are just too many things wrong with this game for me to find it enjoyable.

To feel a part of the community I even tried BAL. Though tbh the tactical element of this game is so pointless because of the scripting that win or lose I don't care because I don't feel that I have any real form of control with exception to basic passing and even then sometimes it just decides not to work.

The shooting is broken - on Advanced its always the crossbar or top corner or keeper saves and that's when it is consistent - when you play online or on Super Star its even less consistent, just dreadful.

So you think you try Basic, its even worse, instead you have long drives low into the bottom or the keeper saves or the ball goes wide - and that's when it's consistent. Play online or on the top difficulty and you suddenly find those options work even less, totally randomized - point and shoot like you normally do and you have multiple outcomes depending on the game you are playing. Again dreadful.

Passing is so slow and limiting, pathing is poor - when online your players rarely make supporting runs....gah its so poor! Getting a player in front to make a run is again very inconsistent, sometimes it changes to the player in front sometimes it doesn't, becomes infuriating because again it is to do with difficulty (on easy, funny enough, the player change is a lot more consistent).

I HAVE SO LITTLE CONTROL!

When the computer wants to score it just does the same routine and no amount of tactics gets the ball back --- I don't know how people believe their changes in formations and D-pad movements make a difference - THEY DONT! NOT A SHRED!!

Tricks --- player tricks are so slow, glitchy and practically pointless (when they work), again its all so random - you have an 80% (or very high) chance of losing the ball when doing a trick as they are so slow and don't actually give you any territorial gain, i.e. you don't actually go anywhere.

Like I said before this game has such an identity crisis:

1). Offline on easy nearly everything works or is a lot more consistent (with exception of tricks) but the computer is lobotomised so it's not exactly fun or challenging.

2). Play online and your players can suddenly start running in mud, your passes don't work, AI doesn't support you, no runs and your shooting becomes utterly inconsistent - yes if you point toward goal and shoot the ball will go in that general direction but you suddenly have a lot less shot outcomes and there is extra delay put on getting your shot off.

On the whole this is how the game works, a mix of consistent and non-consistent scripting. It's too much, too ugly, and not enjoyable at all.

I tried to get into Master League and BAL etc but I just hate what the game makes me do over and over, constantly tunnelling me. I like the animations and some touches but I can't take it anymore, I've uninstalled. I'm a very experienced player and I know how to play but this game just doesn't offer me the level of control over a game that empowers me - it works in mini-advantages. One minute things work (for the most part) then the next nothing works and you can change all the formations and players you want for it doesn't change jack shit - the same score patterns emerge again and again and there is no way to stop it so I'm out - no tactics, no freedom, no empowerment - I want my mistakes to be my own. This game really has become something for kids for only kids could put up with this shit.

I'm out.

P.S. THIS IS THE PC VERSION - ALSO I DONT WANT TO HEAR ANY COUNTER ARGUMENTS - IF YOU LIKE THE GAME THEN GREAT, NO NEED TO POST, PERSONALLY I EXPECT MORE FROM A GAME AND COMPANY THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN 20 YEARS!

1/ Those bloody interceptions. The computer magically intercepts balls that it simply could not have foreseen. If a player plays a first time 5 yard pass there is simply no way that the computer can read that because it's happening too quickly. Sure the first time pass could be inaccurate or maybe the computer could stretch and win the ball but computer player was always magically appearing in front of my receiving player.

2/ My players were actively working against me: running into each other and blocking my clearance, shots and crosses.

3/ Headers in the box. They are totally random. I conceded headers where my defender just refuses to jump. When you cross it's a lottery whether you will head the ball or not, no matter what position or timing you use. Also star players have a header win ratio of 99%. For example it doesn't matter when you press the button Ronaldo/Ibrahimovic always wins the air battle in midfield. Headers should also be about timing and positioning by the user.

4/ Through balls in and around the box. The through balls seem to get manipulated by the rigid pre-programmed biased script as soon as you get close to the box. When I see a free teammate at the edge of the box I tap the through ball button for a short pass, but instead it blasts forward magically towards the keeper. Or your direction you press gets ignored and the ball tends to go in the direction where the computer defender is standing.

I don't know what Konami's thinking is. Whether they feel they *need* to implement 'momentum' due to limitations in the AI or whether they are trying to make the game more exciting and 'unpredictable', or just make the game so inexperienced players have a chance of beating good players, sometimes. Whatever their reasons are, they really really need to TONE IT DOWN as most gamers aren't as dumb as Konami might like to think and as soon as they realise so much of the game is out of their hands, they are going to stop playing the game.

Before I quit the other day I played my friend, who was drunk - he kept sliding around and it largely worked which is a complete joke considering how careful you need to be normally/offline (AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE HE WAS TELLING ME HE WAS HITTING THE WRONG BUTTON! – so he was making consistent mistakes that were working out for him, nice!) I would try to play the passing game (where I retain the ball through using short-range efficient passes all the while looking for gaps and runs) but of course my men would not make space, no runs, no options, nada! Whereas when my friend got the ball he simply sent long balls up the pitch and guess what, with glaring consistency he ended up one on one (after my defender just runs out of the way of, or gets miraculously sucked behind, his forward) with my keeper….AGAIN AND AGAIN! He would just do one or two long passes and boom he’s through, it was retarded considering how bad a player I know he is and he would admit himself, he was actually laughing at how he was getting into these positions considering he could barely see the screen --- I had a few chances to score (not clear chances), simply because he was so drunk, and when I pressed the shoot button the delay was so bad it almost took 3 seconds before the shot left my players foot from the time I press, and the outcome/shot (even though I was using no power) was always blazed over – feels so pointless, but not for him as his shots were quick and snappy and if anything because he was drunk he didn’t score more. I watched when he took a shot (we were on comms) he had no delay and his shot behaviour was normal (i.e. how it behaves when offline on easy mode, in that there is no delay)

Also, my crossing just decided not to work (my player just kept slicing the ball out) even though I would take my time and not rush them again and again. Any rare cross that I got off he simply out-jumped me without any competition.
On the flipside, he sends in one cross and of course it’s perfect he then heads it into the top corner totally unchallenged even though two of my defenders barge into him. 2 mins later another cross, carbon-copy outcome.

Eventually he won 3-2 but I had none of the options he had and I had to work so hard just to make the basics work, I changed formations, tactics and blah blah but none of it did squat because at the end of the day this game is governed by scripts and it is too much to take.

I know my friend and he is a very bad player, on PES 13 I win like 20-0 on PES 14 it’s like 10-0 when we play (he may get the odd goal because there is the advantage system (scripting) in the previous titles but to a much lesser extent, it’s just not enjoyable to be fighting against an outside force, being forced to play handicapped, being powerless while your opponent is handed a goal(s).
It’s like the computer wins for him and even corrects his mistakes, how can people take this, seriously? Offline is completely different but I have witnessed the scripting offline also but to a lesser extent. But it just makes me so frustrated because of what you are up against, the computer just decides when to turn things on their head and it’s a joke for my friend walks away laughing that he beat me while drunk but I know underneath what is going on and he knows about the scripting too because he was sick of it in previous versions (sometimes in PES 13 there is just nothing you can do and in 14 if you take the lead by 3 goals you are given so much scripted advantage that you may as well restart the game) but because he rarely wins at this stuff he can gloat away, which he did and that’s fine but I think this is why Konami made this system the way it is.

It’s lazy and costs little to them because it is inherent, the same AI system, in all their games so no changes needed = saving on money, and of course it creates and maintains competition whereby idiots can beat good players and lures people into playing more as the computer assists them. The goals don’t feel earned or fun, overall I feel like I am handed my goals, as if momentarily the advantage turns for me and I get my chance, i.e. his players start tripping over themselves and suddenly shoot works again.

Nah, in all honesty it’s a joke and I refuse any further to be lulled into this nonsense, it’s just not fun and not a real portrayal or implementation of what I can do, which is what I hate the most. I have personal vision, creativity, intelligence and decent reflexes and an ability to read the game and I often try to think of playing unorthodox (thinking outside the box), none of that means a thing online – and offline can be patchy too! With this system I have to play a given way, pretend there are options when there are none, pretend I can have an impact on defence when clearly there is none to be had – in other words pretend to be a working part of an event that is largely out of my control – it is not really down to skill it’s down to who the computer decides the advantage goes to, and it switches all the time just to keep things competitive – it’s like the developers have researched the theory of competition scientifically and come up with a scripting formula that meets the needs of those who need it in that it allows the AI to assess who needs the advantage at what given time and duly provides it.
A system that will stop people who are good from beating people who are bad 20-0. A system that both creates and enforces artificial competition. A system of control. A system I have had enough of and sadly if I want to avoid the majority of this I must play offline and on an easy setting. Come on Konami you can do better than this, much better – the game isn’t bad by a long stretch but take out the control, take out the scripting, it’s just unnecessary, give us back complete control, stop shaping our destinies for us, let’s all move forward together! Read the feedback at least give an option to remove this stuff – like asking for no MSG in your Chinese Takeaway, it can be done – those who like MSG can still have it but provide an option to have without.

Good luck!

Traded it back in for 2013 on PS3, and couldn't be happier. Game series like this really suffer from having to release every year.

I can't go back for PES2013, I miss the fluidity of the animations too much. PES2013 is way too mechanical, not challenging anymore.

And this kind of game series don't need to release new games every year. They could do like Codemasters almost did with F1 series: releases the same game, and charge the same price as before for just an updated version. A complete robbery, yes. But at least they won't fuck it up (knowing KONAMI they would probably fuck it up either way)

I agree with Rebelinho,
Once you experience the good bits of PES 15 it is extremely hard to go back - I loved ISS pro evo 2, PES 2008, PES 13 and 14 (modded) but as I played the next title I could never really go back, though if one was bad I simply wouldn't play it instead sticking to the previous.

But as much as I hate large parts of PES 15 I am drawn back but I have to accept, because of the scripting, that I can only play the game under certain conditions (unlike the previous titles), which means I no longer play online or any of the game modes on anything other than amateur difficulty. When I play offline on easy against some crap team the scripting is practically non-existent and this is when I like the game, saying that there are still things I would fix on easy, pathing isn't great, tackling is still rather inconsistent and the tricks need to be more concise for at the moment (on the PC anyway) they simply don't function properly, in other words the outcome is so inconsistent it's simply not worth the risk.

I have 5 players red carded in today match against computer due to resorting to enraged sliding tackles. Strangely for once I feel so satisfied playing the game that way (of course I never played like that online).

"It's a sad day for football. No discipline, no sportsmanship, so much thuggery".
The commentator said to me when the match is cancelled.

The game designer has envisaged this situation and made the game to insult me. Strangely I feel so happy :)

It's a good day when you take revenge on AI. It's healthy to kick some ass now and then, for the sake of one's mental sanity you should do it every 10 games. Just grab Verratti, Pepe or Bruno Alves (even better, create Vinnie Jones :D) and apply thoroughly.

Wanted to download data packs 3&4 last night so:

Exported a league I am creating to protect
Downloaded datapacks - installed
Downloaded updates to Paul's Option File (Jan-Feb-March)
Copied to my PS3 - installed
Reloaded my Export teams back into the league slots

5.5 hours.

And Konami doesn't even have those transfers correct

I had a friend over last night, played some games, and told him I had installed a chnats packs. So he chose Benfica and I went with a rabdom team, just to check the chants. They were amazing, but the commentator was always getting in the way. So I had the (brilliant) idea of turning them off. Best decision I could have made.

When, in a football game, no commentary is better than any of the commentaries, something is very wrong...

As much as i love the game, the free agents you get in my club really are a waste of time. Even combining three just delivers a wank player.
