The PS3 On Play

Already bought an Xbox 360.

Sold my PS2, got a PSP, thought that would be enough until PS3 came out, then the news of the pricing came. I changed my mind. Bought an Xbox 360. My PSP is for sale.

PES is the only game I really play (I play others but once I've finished 'em they're of no use to me, like Metal Gear (PS2), like GRAW (360) for example). PES will be out on the 360 so what's the point going for the expensive option when I only care about one game?

£425 for a PS3 really is not at all bad if you consider the PS2 was launched at £399 over five years ago! If you do your maths the increase in price is actually below inflation. PS2 games were also launched £50 a piece... Xbox 360 games are also £50, N64 games were £60 at one point as well. The price for the PS3 and PS3 games will drop significantly, in exactly the same way the PS2's prices did. If any of you think for a moment that Sony won't shift all those consoles comfortably then you are very naive, there's plenty of people that £425 is not a problem, there are also plenty of people who (Especially in Japan) take their gaming very seriously. Once Sony feel they have sold as many consoles as possible at full price they will drop to about £350, then £300... and so on and so on.

You're all so quick to condemn Sony, but what they are doing makes good business sense and has worked well for them before, I'm not at all shocked that this is the launch strategy that they are using. That said, I won't be purchasing one until the next gen PES is released for it, however I'm surprised how short a memory everyone seems to have here.

I sold my 360 for that exact reason, PES isn't as good as it is on the PS2.

I'll also be waiting untill PES6 comes out, before I decide which next-gen console to get. I just hope that both Xbox360 and PS3 have similar specs/power, so the decision is that bit easier.

Bollocks. Ive had it on both and i cannot find any difference apart from it being quicker on loading times.

It's just about getting used to it. When I got my Xbox, I thought PES was shit on it. Now I've gotten used to it, I think it's better than PS2. It seems more responsive, but the only downside is the positioning of the white button (R2 on PS2).

On the 360 you have shoulder buttons and the controller feels nicer than that fucking ape of a controller (old black xbox one)

I'm thinking about buying a Wii, only £150, but the downside is you'll look like a fooking spacker with that little dvd remote controller.

Damn right, the white button is annoying on pes, but it is ok for other games such as Need For Speed.

But the argument here is about the next-gen Pro Evo. Surley you didn't buy a 360 just to play current gen PES?

And also, do you not think that Microsoft will cut the price of the 360 when the PS3 is on the horizon? I think its inevitable that the core package will drop below £200 pounds before xmas, and the hard-drive package will reduce to around £250.

At the end of the day, PES willl be out on the 360. PES7 will be out on the PS3. It depends on your money and your patience as to what console you choose.

PES 6 is multi-platform though, expect the same sort of upgrades for the 360 version as you do with titles like Tomb Raider and Hitman.

Whereas "Seabass" has been waxing lyrical about the PS3 and its potential for next-gen PES, I'm sitting on my hands and waiting to see what the PS3 has to offer.

And I bought a dreamcast, I wouldn't say I regretted it, but the more expensive PS2 that I purchased ended up being better value for money.

Just because Konami bring out a new game doesn't mean the controller will be fixed. The core package is pointless, you need the hard drive... Your choice is up to you, but if you're only interested in PES get the PS3 would be my advice.

The PS2 would have been value for money if it didn't break after about 3 years, forcing you to buy a new one. I know most people on here are on their second PS2. Sony's reputation for quality electronics has been seriously tarnished by the poor durability of the PS1 and 2 in my opinion.

Too bloody right, even though i'm still on my first PS2, it now recognises the disk it just won't play it, so i either have to turn it off at the back or clean it for 5 mins for it to work, and even then it still doesn't load up!!!

You've obviously got some sort of problem with Sony, I've been playing God of War, GTA Liberty City (picked it up Yesterday), Shadow of the Colossus, Katamari Damacy, Guitar Hero and I'll be picking up MGS3 subsistance in a couple of weeks, all on my six year old launch PS2(and my launch PS1 still works, I gave it to the local church a couple of months ago, they put it in the kiddies room) And there's still God of War 2, PES 6 and Final Fantasy 12 to come out on it in the next year. The PS2 is value for money, Microsoft has killed the xbox and they'll inevitabely kill the 360 when it is not doing as well as they hope it will.

The PS3 gives you free online gaming, web browsing from your couch, a high definition bluray player, wifi, wireless motion controller, and the last 10 years of quality games along with future titles, for £425.

How much does a 360 with 4 years online, a wifi adaptor, play and charge kit, and a hi definition player add on(if you want it) cost?

Im getting the PS3 around Christmas. I dont want to get the 360, as, Travis said, the PS3 is better value for money.

The Blue-Ray player is worth £700 if you buy it individually, so the PS3 for £425 is very good value for money as it is a blue-ray player.

I think that motion control might convince me to get PS3 over Xbox360.

That pad would be excellent for racing games.
Or for games such as Ace Combat. Its a shame that they took off the vibration feature as they say it clashes with the tilt sensors.

It's a fucking disgrace.

Some of the initial bundles in America came to around about $650.

A UK PS3 with a couple of games another controller and the like would cost more than $1000.

We always get screwed over in comparison to the USA, on more than just Playstations.
