Have to say, that IMO this is a real issue...
I have a 8 mb down/ 2mb up connection speed... and i live in Santiago, Chile ( South America)... Every time that play against people in countrys like Mexico, Brazil, Central America( Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Honduras), Colombia, Ecuador...i experience lag issues... this lag issues seems to affect my play, but not the opponent play...
I make my investigantion about the issue ,and with speedtest.com and pingtest.com, now i know that countries like Mexico or Brazil are in 125-140 ranking in a 250 countries ranking, about average home speed connections... The average speed connections ins countries like that is something like 1 Mb down / 256Kb Up... By the way, Chile its 62 ranked with a home average of 2Mb/512Kb...
My concern its " If i have better connection that my opponent, can the system downgrade my connection to equalize with my opponent connection speed resulting in a laggy experience for the better connection owner?...
I make a little experiment:
Play against some XBOX users that i know have lag, dued to bad connections speed...(most of the brazilians and mexicans pals)... with my broadband at full speed settings... the result was laggy games for my and flawless victorys for my opponents...
Then i take my router and change the configuration to downscale the speed at 2 or 1MB Down...and the results are almost flawless games and mostly wins... but my opponents calling my a lagger... ( In first place, I wasnt lagger , obviously, because they win)...
My point is, i am pretty shore that something in the online system of pes 2010 rewards lower internet connections speeds...
Now, everytime i play online PES 2010, i decrease my speed to 2MB down and my experience with the game is really better... something like this:
Without decreasing Speed= 70% laggy games for me.
Decreasing Speed= 20% of laggy games for me.
IMO this is a shame... now in the 21 century we need bad internet connections to play a proper online game with PES...just a shame.
