Throwing this one out there - but I think PES 2011 is better than 2012!

Ali

It is happening again
I was thinking of getting hold of 2011 again. Got rid of it because of the shite online lag, But must admit i enjoyed the gameplay and the little bit of master league i played. From what i remember the shooting was far better!. And i never really noticed any graphical changes either. Was thinking bout this the other night when i kept getting owned by arsenal in master league (2012) by an obvious dose of rigged computer play, Kept starting the game again but the ai had had there orders to destroy me twats lol

That's a understatement!!!

Whilst the shooting was still a bit off in PES 2011, I felt I had more control over where my shots go. Plus, shots didn't go in slow motion as they do in 2012.

Trader : The Trader must travel across Silkroad to other towns with a transport full of Goods. These goods are worth a lot more than 100% if the trader manages to cross to another town, leaving them with a profit. However, the trader can be robbed by thieves and risk losing their goods Silkroad gold.

personally i think PES 2011 was the worst one i ever played.
PES 2012 is really an improvement over that piece of crap.
sorry i don't want to get in to why's at the moment cause i just haven't got the time and i think it would be a waste of time also cause it is what it is and everyone has his own taste when it comes to games.
this is the biggest reason why KONAMI(game producers) doesn't know what to produce anymore cause they try and listen to all the fans, while most of them don't even know what they want.

Sure PES 2011 might have been fun but it was a pain with all the stupid through balls that are impossible to stop and defenders just gazing at the attackers score an empty net. PES 2011 is a messed up game against the COM because it was so unbalanced and shooting is way too easy making it arcade. There is no such thing as a standing tackles in PES 2011 as whenever I pressed x, they never attempted to press and tackle. The button lag and lack of response killed the game off for me as every player felt they weighed 1000kg. PES 2012 is also infuriating as even though it fixes neatly all the bugs, the scripting kills this year’s edition
Also BAL on PES 2011 is unplayable because of the stupid AI.
Fun and Freedom = PES 2011
Realism = PES 2012.
To make the ultimate game, all it needed was PES 2011 with more response, better AI, better keepers, ball physics and tone down shooting power

I agree. The main problem I have with 2012 is that all the players feel like Ronaldo and Messi, they all have to much fluidity and ease of response. I thought this would be what i was after, a kind of mix between PES values and FIFA fluidity, but now if it comes to whether I want my player to have complete ease of movement or turn more awkwardly (aka real life) then I want the latter. I don't want Carragher spinning on a dime, but I want him to be strong and good in the air. The main thing that sticks out for me in 2011 is player individuality, Forlan feels like Forlan and my defenders feel like defenders. In 2012, I think everyone could honestly be inter-changeable. The only thing I see between them stats wise is shot power difference and perhaps top speed. Apart from that they are all pretty much the same.

I played PES11 for 5 months last year. I hated everything about the game, but I kept on playing for months anyway. From the start, I love PES12. For the record, I ONLY play online (2v2, 1v1 and communities). The game may be more arcadish. I don't care at all. The game is way more diverse, dribbling is so much better and distance shots ROCK. I hear that Dribbling is too easy. I find that funny to hear because i only rarely have someone score against me with a nice dribble. That's because of the defense system, if you get the hang of that, dribbling vs defending is perfectlty balanced. What I do not like about PES12 is the amount of scripting in online matches. It's pathetic. If they get rid of that and tweak the game a bit, I am looking forward to 2013:)

Oh yeah, I forgot about the annoying running catach-up bug and stamina bug and stumbling bus and so on and on

Got PES2012 first week it came out and was really excited based on the DEMO. Right away the game seemed off, but the patches brought hope which has left.

I play on the PS3, mainly BAL mode.

I agree with the majority in this thread that 2011 was fun, even with the faults, and 2012 is a labor of love. I really want to like this game but a few things just keep killing it for me.

1. Computer taking over your player. This should never happen period! Good example of this occured last night. Ball was cleared down the field, AI took control of my player, AMF, and he started to sprint after the ball. Ran 50 yards only to see my CB get to the ball. Also when the ball is put into the box, I love the way your entire time sprints after the ball and no one seems to play their position. I know you can use super cancel, but you shouldn't have to! I don't recall this happening in 2011. Not to the degree it does in 2012. :realmad:

2. Player getting stuck to opposing players. At first I liked the way your player reacted when running into players/official. After the patches that interaction now seems flawed. Now it seems like you get stuck like glue when you run into a player. Yes I know players grab, but not 100% of the time.

3. Shooting/passing/power. Just seems hit or miss. I know player position, touch, timing, play a part but it seems like it has a mind of it's own. Plus too many players seem to shoot/pass with no power/ball floats.

4. Agree with techboy that the game is set to go forward 100% of the time. No build up play.

5. Stamina. I'm in my 5th season in BAL, started with 61 stamina and I'm now at 73. I've had training points maxed and also down to 2. No matter how many points, it doesn't seem to grow any faster. My player is now 22 and I've been a starter since my 2nd season. The more you play/train, stamina should grow faster than it does. Don't feel it's realistic at all.

I want to like this game, but I'm not having fun like I did with 2011. Whatever Konami did from the DEMO to actual release is beyond me. Quit trying to be like FIFA and go back to BUILT FOR FREEDOM.

My .02.

I just grabbed two of your points to comment on.

#3 - and when glued to the CPU player, you are guaranteed to lose the challenge for the ball 100% of the time. You can use super cancel to break out of a glued situation but you won't win the ball with that either, but at least you can be prepared to lose the ball and get in defensive position.

#4 - agreed with no build up play by the CPU (or by any onlline player for that matter). Certainly play becomes built in real matches. But what is interesting to me is watching highlight shows of real matches the last few weeks from all over the globe, I would say 95% or more of the goals are set pieces or run and gun, fast break plays. was shocked when I really noticed this. I rarely saw any build up goals. So build up play, while actually existing in real world, doesn't seem to profit too much in terms of goals. Seems to end in turnover and every once in a while a nice cross.

One other thing I forgot, when you call for the ball in BAL, your teamates always seem to send regular passes as opposed to lobbing the ball.

When I've been on a break, sprinting ahead, whenever I call for the ball, they never try to send a lobbed thru ball. It's always on the ground. In 2011 the passing seemed more varied in BAL.

Anyone else notice this?

@ironcity

good point with regards to build up play although disagree to some extent with your cpu comments, some stuff iv'e noticed recently for anyone's interest.

I was getting frustrated with the AI on superstar but not so now(although it has its moments if I lose its usually down to me or my tactics) when focusing on positional play the AI plays much more sideways and backwards passes, if you try to defend the old way by using pressure and standing tackles(standing tackles has to be timed perfectly in 2012) this year the AI will cut through you over and over again, the game forces you to defend as you would in real life although of course there are differing techniques and hunting the ball down can work also at the right time. Force the AI to be creative on superstar and its on another level to pes 2011. Defend like old pes games and give the ball away cheaply and it will counter attack the fuck out of you.

Since turning pressing down to 8 and making less standing tackles, focusing on positional play has payed dividends on superstar, finally love this game after 4 months of sweat and tears.
