Agreed. Part of the problem for me is the insistance on visual quality rather than delivering 1st class gaming.

My all time fave is still SWOS, to the point where I still have my old Amiga 1200 (with 2 external drives to prevent disc swappage), to this day I haven't played a footy game that has sucked so many possibly productive hours from my life.

Others include the first Gran Tourismo which made a huge leap forward for driving games by being massively comprehensive yet incredibly accessable and Hero quest on the 48k spectrum, my first delve into RPG-light gaming if memory serves. Got it for the Klive emulator & it looks really shit now, but for some reason it's still fun.

Dungeon Master (Atari ST/PC) - finished it over 10 times and know it so well I can actually play it in my head
Sensible World of Soccer (Amiga/PC) - around 5,000 matches and it never got old...I even turned Zalgiris Vilnius into European champions in two seasons with only one signing...God bless Valdas Ivanauskas! :smug:

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (single and multiplayer were simply superb, gutted original xbl support has been cut)
Halo 1 and 2 (there was only single player in H1 really, I wasn't hardcore enough to travel to LAN parties, Halo 2 gave me the multiplayer experience that was missing, although the balance wasn't as good as Halo 1)
