Transfer Negotiation Tips

I've noticed a few things when negotiating transfers and thought I'd pass them on:

- The initial transfer fee suggested by a club is ALWAYS open to negotiation

- Changing this fee by 25-30% is normally acceptable

- A players wage demands aren't so flexible. A player normally wants 10% more than their value.

- A player will seek less than their value if they are unhappy at a club but even then re-negotiaiting the wage should only be to a slight degree

- The length of contract requested is normally short but is never a deal breaker. (For instance if a player wants a 1 year contract and you say 5, they will almost always return with a compromise.)

- The assessment by the scout that "A deal seems unlikely" doesn't mean you wont get the player. You should always attempt to sign a player even if you get this assessment.

If anyone has any other tips for negotiations please post them on this thread

Keep offering for a transfer deal. "chance almost a zero" will eventually change to "a deal seems unlikely", which means you would be able to sign the player after a few tries.

- Go to Scout Recommendations and get a list of players based on their openness towards negotiation. Sort the list on the descending order of overall rating. Look for really cheap players with great stats, apply for negotiations and your success rate in reaching an agreement will be close to 100%.

- Keep your youth team's operating costs at the highest level. That way, among the 10 or so kids in the youth team, you'll get atleast a 75~80 rated player at the beginning of each season. If you're lucky, you might even bump into 16-year-olds with 95 or such stats.

- Try to negotiate a couple of weeks before the january and june-july transfer windows. That way, even if the move is rejected, you can go for the guy again during the transfer window.

Thanks for the tips Yami. Can you explain the above?

I try to change the transfer fee just a couple of million euros and they reject every time. Haven't got a player where i really could negotiate for the price..
My scout level is 5 and i've won PL for 2 years in a row.

Can someone tell me how to do negotiations.
I want it like the old days where I put my own bid in for players instead of just the scout doing it.
It says Negotiate directly in my game settings though, I thought that would do it.
And I have no idea how to change my Scouts level from 4 to 5, I have looked all over the menus trying to figure it out and I have no clue ha.

EDIT: I've found other answers about not being able to change the scout till after the season. So there is no way to bid on players like the old days?

To the last question, i'm afraid the answer is no. Think the scout thing is okay, but yeah i would still be able to higher the bids if i wanted to..

How can you change the fee ?
On my game the scout does it auto!
All you can do is say yes or no... all the stuff is set even though I have the ''leave it to Scout'' turned off

u need to go to options and set to negotiate directly. then when the scout gets a player interested in signing you can change the fee and salary and contrct years. simples. regards. x

Depends how much the transfer offer is initially, like if its only 2-3 million you wont be able to lower it more than about 0.5m tops. If a transfer fee is say 10m you should be able to get him for 8m

It doesn't work on every transfer but definitely worth trying especially if you're short on funds. E.g. I attempted to sign Kaka from RM & the scout came back to me with a transfer fee of $55M Pounds + wages of $8.5M Pounds which I couldn't afford. I managed to get it down to $40M + $7.2M. I then cheekily sold Berba to RM a couple of weeks later for $30M pounds. Obviously with big money transfers you have more room to negotiate..

Hi Yami-Naruto,ive got a level 5 scout on manual negotations.Ive got money and last year won champions league and league.Im struggling to sign Bendtner,Benzema etc.Can i adjust the transfer fee or wages to lure these players?I notice you can see how long the players have on thier contract but when Hulk was up for renewal,he went to Man City (EVEN THOUGH THEY'D WON NOTHING!)after i bid on him!
Ive so far come to the conclusion your team rating needs to be very high(ive started with default players with an edited Pes United).
Any ideas!

Just keep winning things and your ranking will increase. I've done back to back trebles and I'm only ranked 7th now! but signing players has gotten a lot easier.

I'm finding it quite difficult to get anyone that is not on the scouts recommendation list under "open to negotiation ". I'll try some tips from the guys above... I think best thing to do is have a scout watch the player, then keep on offering for him, eventually they will come.... If i want them they will come :)

To change scout levels go to Team Office from main menu and then into Operating Costs and change it there. You can do it from the start, no need to wait a season. The scout puts in a bid but if you are successful you can change the price.

Totally agree with this. I have had success signing players that are open to negotiation. Key for me as I am using Nottingham Forest and in Div 2 - funds are tough to come by.

haha great. I am playing as arsenal, in my second season of the ML. The only players i have been able to bring in is those "open to negotiations". I bid for a lot of players Villa, Eto, Gourceff etc..... with transfer negotiations always breaking down. I bid for Torres, he accepts :) he cost me €67m
