Win as many games as possible. Your attractivness to players is affected by your club rank. So if like me you pick a team that sits around 200 don't expect to sign any star players. On the flip side you can pick up young guys and develop them into superstars so look for guys around the 70's and are about 18-20 and sign them up and also good older pro's who will still be good for a year or 2

Club ranking + your scout is the only thing that matters i think! Just be patient, when you get good club ranking and the best scout you can get great players if you can afford them.
