I posted this on the main page.

The Cat: “Demo is a huge disappointment. WENB tricked me again into believing PES was back. Its clearly not. I give it three months before people start turning there backs on PES 2011.

MASSIVE BUG – Run down the wing without pressing R1 (No one will tackle you) Cross the ball into the box (No one will block you) and get a goal scoring opportunity 3/5 times. THIS IS SHOCKING!”

Hi Cat,

I duuno if people have been reading my posts, very few responses. I haven’t had time to play the game much (well still over 20 games though) but the more I played, I began figuring it out.

I began noticing when holding run, your acceleration was laggy when turning. So I stopped using acceleration unless running in a straight line, and without the run button lo and behold everything became too easy. One on one the opposition could never get the ball off me unless they fouled or double teamed me. I became very worried it was broken once I find out how to exploit it.

Then when I read your comment I thought I’d give it a go. At first I couldn’t make it work, but then one time with Puyol against Robben (I was Puyol) Robben kept backing up and backing up all the way down the pitch to ridiculous proportions.

I tried to figure out if this was a one off or something consistent and I found when I had the ball in the corner flag, I could stroll up and down the wing against the touchline all day, up and back, up and back, and the defender would NEVER tackle me, just like you stated.

Anyone who doesn’t believe The Cat, do this (on top player). Get a player into the opposition corner, then, without even touching run, jog along the sideline up and back, as long as you stay against the line. It doesn’t work when there is a double team or if you press run.

As I’ve said before, dribbling without run is far too powerful, and the philosophy of PES on running isn’t right. The defence plays it way too safe by refusing to even go for the ball because they get beaten so easily without run.

I wanted to love this game, it felt a lot better in certain circumstances but if this is the final code it’s clearly broken, and badly, which is so annoying because they’ve done some things really well.

In saying that, Fifa10 was broken also, despite having great points, and PES11 feels a lot better IMO, but it doesn’t play an accurate game of football. Football is just so complicated to replicate, which is why PES5 was so amazing, to capture such a complex sport near perfectly was unbelievable. How konami lost this is heartbreaking and so frustrating. What on earth happened Konami? I know EA stole some of your programmers, is that the problem?

Anyone who bags me because they think I’m hating, well, just try what The Cat mentioned, if you’re half competent you should be able to pull this off no worries.

Yea, the running down the wing shit works. tried it, not a good thing at all, its needs changing but its probably a side effect of PES trying to make a game where defenders hold position rather than try to steamroller you. Its a VERY good spot, have you posted it in feedback?

Yeah unfortunately it's there. It's an AI problem though because I can tackle perfectly from those positions. So multiplayer still won't be effected by runners down the wings.
Anyway it needs fixing.

Hi thanks for the replies, I'm glad some people can see this. IMO it is an error in fundamental philosophy of football, it will affect EVERYTHING, multiplayer or not, this is just the easiest most blatant way of proving it. It's not just a "glitch" but IMO a serious flaw in the AI's understanding of the game. All they do is run around trying to double team you which is why the glitch is not readily apparent.

Although Shaun7, I agree, I am able to defend very well IMO, so you're probably right in saying it's an AI issue.

Tech Skill, I just posted a thread in the feedback section, thanks.

Let's hope that it's easily fixable with a patch... I'm not a programming expert, but this looks fixable to me... :)

Maybe all that needs fixing is that the CPU doesn't use the "X+back defending" all the time or something...

But I agree, if this isn't fixed, then single player will be almost unplayable.. Let's keep in mind that this is just a demo, and if it is 100% the same as the final build release, they can probably fix it with a patch.. It's done all the time in other games, so why not this game..?

Nothing to do but let Konami know (maybe they already do), and wait and see if it's fixed... :-/

i might seem quite retarded but i havent acc noticed this until you said it. Maybe that's because i don't jog down the line; which i think is quite unrealistic.

I haven't noticed it all the time.

I tried it today, took Messi down the wing and boy did it feel good!

Second time it didn't work an Bayern came back 2-1!

After reading this post i decided to try it myself and scored 3 goals in one match doing exactly what you said :( lets just hope its a demo problem but i very much doubt it.

heres highlights of the match only showed 2 of the goals i scored using this method as there was 10 gaols in the match finished 5 all (top player) to many highlights i guess to show all.

check 18 secs and 1:42 for examples

God there always has to be something that ruins it please god let Konami see this and take care of it, this is a huge problem if the final game has this I WILL be finally buying FIFA this year because there its absolutely no point if it is now that easy. I think someone should make this known 'cos I have a feeling if it's not known Konami will try and brush it underneath the carpet and hope it doesn't become a big deal I just hope people upload loads of videos of this error otherwise Konami may not do anything about it. It's a real shame because I was finally ready to get back into football this year and PES 11 was almost back to it's root with amazing individual stats and animations that are noticeable and alot less robotic I was ready to go all out but this is a disappointment.

Hate to burst your bubble but this is the final build.

Anyone got twitter? Someone needs to tweet this to Jon Murphy ASAP.

That's what they thought when the PES2010 came out as well. There were obvious changes in the gameplay when the final game came out.

This. It doesn't look like a major thing, I'd expect it to be fixed by the final release/on one of the first patches. Konami aren't chumps like EA, who go missing between release dates and fail to rectify game-breaking bugs.

millywilly,

no you're not retarded. Two reasons why this is not immediately apparent before the Cat brought it up:

Firstly, AI always runs around double teaming. It's far too frequent IMO.

Secondly, Konami expects you to use run. Running is broken as well, but it is much harder to prove, so they overpowered non-run.

Thanks for the replies again, thanks for the vid and thanks for trying to get the word to Konami and tweeting Jon Murphy.

The more people that know about this the better, and the sooner the better. I'm going to see if there's some way to contact Konami and link that video.

Finally, I'm hoping what you guys are saying is true and it is an easy fix but personally I feel the underlying problem is a fundamental flaw in the game. For example, the reason the cpu doesn't tackle is because they worried about getting beat, so they continually back up. Can konami make the AI good enough so with 1 on 1 coverage the CPU knows when to tackle without overcommitting? Because at the moment they stop this two ways:

1. Wait for you to run/make the first move.
2. Double team you.

IMO changing the system of defensive AI to be able to handle a non running dribbler with only single coverage is not a quick fix, but hopefully I'm wrong.

Thanks again.
