but if the cpu defense completely laid off you, wouldn't you get to the box in 2-3 passes? surely you wouldn't backpass.

if you pressure the cpu with your defense does the game get a little more dynamic?

To cut a long story short, the CPU doesnt suddenly start playing possession football when you pressure, it still looks to be direct from what I can see. It has its 3/4 patterns and it will follow them, from what I can see, i'll put it on AGAIN in a bit and re-test some stuff.

I see it myself. I can dominate possession stats playin Barca on superstar (and other teams) because they don't play like they do in real life. But they have beaten me a few times scoring completely different types of goals which I like.

One reason could be the 5min matches, not enough time to really play any other way if they're gonna try to score a lot of goals against you maybe. Couple that with superstar, which is supposed to be the toughest challenge the game can fork out.

I know this sounds funny, but I would truely love to play Barca and the cpu dominate me in possession 70-30. But as of now, my lowest poss% has been 55% on superstar.

I'm still having a lot of fun playing tho.

Ah, Tech Skill, long time no see man. Now bear in mind that I didn't play demo 2 yet. I have only played Demo 1 and although I had fun playing it (certainly with all it's flaws, it still plays better than Fifa for me), I have to say that I totally agree with what you're saying. The AI does not build up play. It's almost always long pass, and goal. That ruins some of the experience. Also, since this is more of a hating thread rather than a praising one, I'll go ahead and continue the trend.

Possession is way too easy to keep and pass completion is a joke. Pressure on the defenders need to work far better and you need to have more precise control over the player you are pressuring with, that way, you will intercept more. If these 2 happen by the final release, both the possession and the pass completion problem will diminish, but they won't go away for good.

I think that's been a problem for the last lot of years. Even if you position a player perfectly for an intercept in the passing lane. most of the time the ball will just travel straight thru his legs.

Can I just say, I havent been around in Donkeys, mainly because I dont give a shit anymore, PES is shite, Fifa is shite, BUT, what I will say is this, dont bother listening to WENB and all that shit, thats a fucking waste of time, come to PES gaming and get the raw truth, 30 seconds into the fucking game, I can see the CPU attack is following the same predetermined patterns, online of course, its practically a non issue, but offline master league is the reason I bought pes in the past.

Game is STILL fundamentally fucked and developed by people who clearly do not understand the dynamics of football and not take the correct feedback on board.

Think about player individuality and how important that is........

Imagine a game with genuine TEAM individuality, where a CPU could play say 10 different style of football at any given point in a game and interchange as it sees fit, that would be one hell of a game right?

Like a guy said above, you go to the Nou Camp and you know you are getting 30% possession, that's a proper game of football, not some bullshit where i turn up in the nou camp and play like the home team.

personally i think this is largely down to the very bad tactics board

if they really spent on making an in depth tactical layout it would vastly improve each team. individual instructions on what to do on the pitch for each player, team instrutions for what to do while in possesion and out of possesion... this would make the game so better with unique teams

but firstly, put in a frickin working stamina system, as fitness over 90mins plays a big part in tactics.

they are making big steps forward... pes 2013 demo 2 plays amazingly imo... but they need to keep stepping it up

One of the big things I noticed from past games is that Konami's formations were set up very "open", allowing tons of room in the middle of the field for both teams. The Konami default formations allowed this type of direct play due to having lots of time on the ball. If the formations are tightened up, the AI no longer will take the easy option and have to pass back or move the ball out wide.

On past games, Barca wasn't set up with all possession tactics and were very direct. I can change all of this on my own game but it is irritating since that really is their job to get right since I'm paying money for this. Their game engine really allows a lot of room for making teams play more realistically but they don't seem to fix it.

A huge factor in no longing dominating possession is to turn the AI assistance off or down to 1. You really start to realize how much the computer helps you and I guarantee that your possession will no longer be easy. It also allows you to drop the difficulty down a bit because of the lack of perfect passes. This is done under the controller settings and personal settings. Makes the game much more lifelike.

This is the one of the 1st things I did and its very good, the passing is alot less laser guided when I AM PLAYING, which is exactly how i like it, I want to make unforced errors, Im not interested in a game where the passing is like heat seeking missiles, however Konami have forgotten one key aspect of the game......

"What happens when I dont have the ball".

Well like I said, there is nothing you are going to be able to do to fix the way the AI plays in the demo but once the real game is out there is a lot that can be done. My personal view though is that it is something that Konami should fix rather than me having to adjust every team in my option file.

I didn't play 2012 so I can't comment on that but the earlier versions for PS3 were all set up from Konami to be very direct in both formation and tactics. I understand the problem they have by allowing users to have game times ranging from 5 minutes all the way up to 30. I have set my 2011 game up fairly realistically but the issue is that you pretty much have to play lengthy (15-30 minute) matches or else everything ends up in a 0-0 draw. It seems Konami has set the game up for shorter matches and for teams to score goals in the short matches. There just isn't enough time to spread the ball around in the short matches.

I agree with a few people here, from the previous page.

I think it's finally time to admit to myself that this game is fked.

Demo 1 I thought was okay, but only okay. There were elements of sim in there, in terms of human receiving passes and the ball felt less on string.

Demo 2 has eradicated that completely, it now feels like an even more Uber PES 2012, attack, counter rinse and repeat.

I've had three games of the new demo, and can honestly say I don't give a toss about PES this year, there's just so much wrong with it (including my old gripes of twisted possession stats, CPU having different rules governing them than the player, constant running, too much open space etc).

Good luck peeps anyway, hope someone out there can gleem some satisfaction from it.

At the end of the day it's just a game, i love watching football and i love playing football games. There will be faults for sure like in ANY game, i believe when trying to make a football game it's got to be quite complicated to get everything right if near impossible.

I guess some people expect more than others when it comes down to a football game( I am not trying to be condescending ). I like to be able to play pes against my friends and family, and we generally scream at the tv when things are not going our way.

For the first time in nearly a year of playing pes 2012 i was playing my nephew, the score was 1-1 89th minute, i brought him down just in the corner of the area.
I thought shit that's lost it for me, the whistle never came , i laughed my socks off.

After a year of the game being out there is still new stuff to see. Like i said earlier no game is going to be perfect, also there is nothing wrong with wanting something to be as perfect as it can be.

Sadly when it comes to pes or fifa this will never be the case, we have to make do with what we have until something better comes along.
Now seabass is not working on pes 2013 let's see how it progresses, i believe where fifa is concerned rutter has taken it as far as he can, fifa has gotten stale and lifeless.

Yea I think we all need to realize, myself included, that these are just video games and it is impossible to perfectly emulate the real sport because the real sport is played by humans and it is unpredictable. These games are just for fun.

I completely agree with you and the lack of possession football from the AI is what have disturbed me most the last years. There is a patch called Shollym patch for PES 6 where the patch maker has tweaked the CPU to play much more concidered football, so if a random patch maker can achieve this Konami can too. Which doesnt mean anything else that Konami is either very lazy on this issue or simply doesnt give a shit about us single players. Even in Fifa the CPU opponent plays more varied and intelligent realistic football. It is very annoying that Konami is ignoring this totally.

When you go to the Camp Nou you simply should not be able to dominate possession in high difficulty settings. If you play too direct it should affect stamina much faster and playing ping-pong football for a whole match should simply not be possible.

I want a game where you have to make an effort for keeping possession and all I can say is that I hope Konami starts taking this into consideration for next years version.

So I'm with you, mate.

Yah at times i think that we are expecting too much. But are we really? considering that this is 2012...........there is no evidence suggesting that these game developers are doing their best they could (Fifa and Pes).

For example most Pes fans have been asking for the ability to change clubs as a manager for so many years, i dont think this should be a daunting task for Seabass and company............just my thoughts
