Appearently Newcastle are not gonna renew the old man's contract...is it a good move considering how old he is. How do the Newcastle supporteers feel? Gary, Jonny?

No way they can't get rid of him he wont go? I do like Newcastle more than any other Prem Team and he's done a grand job. He'll be managing them from his coffin you'll see.

Then again I thought that Vierra wasn't gonna go 2 Madrid

50!

115 and Counting...
He is a really good manager and all but i think this should be his last season IMO. At 71 if he does well this season he can bow out in style and enjoy his retirement.

As I don't play Championship Manager, I've always wondered that when all these people get into their 30th season or whatnot, is Bobby Robson still around at the grand old age of 100?

It's a tough one

Some of his decisions lately have been baffling, selling Nobby for less than Cort, not bringing subs on when he should, bringing subs on too late. I don't know who we'll get when he goes, I certainly don't want Steve Bruce in charge, and I doubt we'll be able to temt the likes of O'Neill, Curbishley etc, we will probably end up with a foreign coach.

SBR's good signings:

Bernard - Free
O'Brien - £2m
Bellamy -£6m
Robert - £9.5m
Butt - £2.5m
Woodgate - £8m
Bowyer - Free

Big-money flops:

Cort - £7m
Viana - £8.5m
Bramble - £4.5m

what about kluivert i think thats a great signing and get bowyer and o'brien off that list

O'Brien is a quality centre-back, it's just that when he is alongside Bramble the mistakes sometimes set in, when he partners Woodgate he is fine.

Bowyer was in a rich vein of form towards the end of the season, at least he's prepared to get stuck in, unlike Dyer and JJ. Hopefully Bowyer and Butt will be our central midfield partnership this season.

Yeah i know, I don't mind though, i'd rather he got stuck in than pussy out of challenges though. I hated him at Leeds but he is the type of player we needed.

to be honest i dont think he should go, its the chairman i think who should go i really do hate that bastard, theres quite obviously some sort of power struggle happenin' at st. james park between Sheperd/Robson/Shearer and each one of them are tryin to undermine the other and unfortunately Sir Robert William Robson seems to be the one catching both ends of the sword.... i mean just think where would Newcastle be if he hadnt took over the club, alot of people have short term memories

Lol @ Bramble. He is one of the worst defenders I’ve ever seen. However, Robson, thinking that he’ll come good, persists on playing him to bemusement of many Newcastle fans I bet. Houllier was the same with the favouritism he showed towards a few of our mediocre players. Thank God we got rid of him.

Yeah but the problem I see is that Newcastle really don't have much choice in the back, perhaps if they had bought less midfielders and more defenders it might not be a problem IMHO. Atleast he's not as bad as Biscan though ;) With any luck our team wo't be fielding the likes of Cygan anymore...But back on topic, it is sad to see Shearer getting the big head, clearly its ruining the team moral, considering that he'd retire in a year anyways I'd have sold him off, but then perhaps that's just me.

In some ways I want Robson to leave in others I don't. He's a great man with a great passion for the club and for football in general but he does make some silly mistakes. He also picks his 'favourites' week in, week out even if they are performing poorly (i.e. Jenas, Dyer etc.).

I wouldn't want Fat Fred to leave. As a person he is a reet tosser but as a chairman and a business man it's very hard to think of someone better. Since he has came in he is running the club more as a business. He has launched the NUFC brand in Asia and is set to do the same in America with the film 'Goal', he has struck a deal with MGM to build a casino/hotel which is also set to be a big source of income for us and he is not stingy with his cash.

As for Shearer it's hard to comment on him. He wants to play every minute of every game which I like to see in our players but the way he throws his toys out of the pram when he gets substitued or dropped isn't professional.

As for Bramble last season he made several mistakes that lead to goals. His concentration goes in the bigger matches which is unfortunate because when he does play well (Celtic last night, Juve in the CL etc.) he is very, very good. Brilliant tackler, superb vision and a top class passer of the ball. I am confident he'll come good sooner or later.

Bramble - £4.5m

You sure it was £4.5, if it was then thx :D

Anyway I though they all agreed this like a month ago that Shearer was going to learn loads off Bobby this season and next season he'd take over as manager

I don't know where people got the idea of Shearer being next manager from. He's even admitted that he's got to take his UEFA A Coaching badge first and has a 3 year contract with the BBC he wants to run out before he even considers going into management.

Definitely Maybe

Fat Fred keeps bleating on about a "Geordie manager."

There are only two Geordies who would be considered - Steve Bruce and Alan Shearer.

Dunno which ones worse :D ;)

I think Freddy's resigned to the fact that the next manager isn't going to be a Geordie.

well that's not too bad considering that most of the best managers aren't Geordies...;)
