"But I think the location of London, the challenge at West Ham and working beside the likes of Scott Parker and Thomas Hitzlsperger have been very important factors in him considering the move."

No disrespect to West Ham, but :lmao:

This guy worked beside Cambiasso, Mascherano, Messi, Tevez, Crespo, etc.

Riquelme to West Ham has disaster wrote all over it.

He's about as fast as he was aged 21, but their whole style of play will have to be built around him and at his age I can't see him making a huge effort to settle and adapt.

What you say is true, Jonny, but I got to admit, I'd still love to see him play over here. Even if ends up to be only 6 months.

And please Jonny, change that avatar. Looking at that guy hurts my stomach, man!

I disagree, I think it is a great signing and I am happy to see him back in Europe.....................

Looks like we havent learnt anything from past mistakes. How did we get into our current mess? By chasing for players who were past their peak and luring them with stupid wages. If we end up paying little to nothing for him and offer him a basic salary them i'd be happy. But we are looking at around £50,000-£70,000 a week.

If this deal goes through, it could be a wonderful coup by the hammers, the guy is one of those players who can damage any team.

Right, 4 games into the season. 3 loses in the Premier League and 1 win in the Carling Cup which was horrible to watch considering it was Oxford. The next few games are not much better.

Against Aston Villa we were bad. I dont really want to say that I expected us to lose it but I did. We had no determination to win the ball in any section of the field all game. As far as our signings go, what signings? Carlton Cole starts, everyone expects that but after todays game and the Villa game, I think playing him up front by himself is no good for us. We just dont have the firepower to play like that. Parker isnt one to play behind a striker, has never done that his entire career.

Piquionne always has a depressed look on his face whenever I see him, probably because he thinks he could do better than what Cole has shown so far. Barrera looks lively when he does come on but Id hate it if he's only here to be used as an impact sub because he can cause fullbacks trouble. So far, he's an untested source of attack. We signed Obinna on a season long loan from Inter today so hopefully he's give us that boost we desperately need from our strikers.

Last week against Bolton we played quite well but as usual, defensive lapses lost us the game. Same can be said against United, we were doing quite well right up until Giggs exploited Spector's inability to think and won a penalty. Im not even going to count the game against Chelsea. Drogba is going to have feast. Im looking at Stoke for our first points of the season.

I remember you guys were in a bit of a struggle last December, but managed to take a point from us when we came to Upton Park...

Basically, I'm not saying anything until this game is over. London derby and all of that.

Playing Jonathan Spector in midfield was either going to be tactical genius or pure daftness. He's scored two now, dribbling like Messi. But it could still go tits up.

Game raising waste of space. Deserve to get relegated when they manage to cheat they're fans every week playing below par all season, but manage to play out of their skins when United come to town.

^ It's not the first time something like this has happened.

Tonight they were in a cup competition against Man Utd. No one expected them to do anything. There was no pressure on at all. For the first time in months they could go out there and play with freedom.
