Really, a big lose of the Japanese football. Does he have any relevant reasons at all?? And like Charlie said: He has at least 3 more years to play, why not? Well, we wave you goodbye, Hide....

He'll be 33 at next world cup so probably feels he won't be able to give his best to Japan in 4 years time. Still expect him to be a very good club player for the next few years.

Was a brilliant player, will be sad to see Hide go.

Hasn't he retired altogether?

Oh yeah, didn't read it properly, thought it was just international football  That is very shocking then.

Hes well past his prime so its maybe a good decision.

Hes made alot of money, has a very nice wife and is a national hero. What more could a man want?

Nakata has been well past his best in recent years, so maybe he wants to retire when he still has his dignity left.

Never been all that impressed with the guy, but retiring at 29 seems a bit early...
Hopefully, now that he's gone, Ono will get a bit more important in the Japanese squad.

I'm not sure mate, but I've seen pictures of him with his "wife" (could be his girlfriend I guess) but she looked pretty hot.

I can't find any pictures of his wife so I have no proof.
