Well.. From being very positive after the demo and short after release I'm a bit frustrated right now.

Started a ML with Milan and the default lineup. I'm in Serie B and is seeing a lot of goals in my games so far. Way to many actually. I'm sitting with a feeling that the computer just scores when they want to without i can do anything. Is this just because of my bad defensive players? I have tried different settings and tactics.

My games so far:
H: Pro Vercelli: 1-2
H: Perugia: 3-2
H: Avellino: 3-4
H: Latina: 2-2
A: Latina: 1-3
A: Cesena: 4-3
A: Crotone: 3-5
H: Livorno: 2-3
H: Novara: 4-2

Pretty unrealistic. Does anybody feel the same here?

Yes, absolutely. I've played around 30 games so far in my ML, and those scorelines look very familiar. There are times when you just cannot get close to their attacking players. Like you say, it feels like when the CPU decides it wants to score, it will. Seems especially bad after you've scored yourself. Countless times they go back up the other end and tap in an equaliser straight away.

I don't know what they've been doing in development, but they've made a huge step backwards since 2015 in my opinion.

Spot on. Exactly the same feeling here.

Although i think the demo was fantastic. Also better gameplay-wise than 2015. The full game though - actually after the patch. Yeah maybe it's just me, but something went wrong here.

I enjoyed the demo, that's why I initially bought the full game (which I traded after only a few days)- it's akin to fraud. We get roped in with the demo, then the goalkeepers become crap in the full game!

I'm tempted to download the demo again (PS4) just for confirmation of that. I don't remember games finishing with crazy scorelines/crap goalkeeping.

[edit]

I'm downloading the demo and will test it tomorrow. I just have to know...

I'm saying the same thing for so long!
Scores are unreal. Too many goals per game (many times I get this situation with COM: 2-shots, 2-on-target, 2-goals).
Also...there is no balance in the center of the field (if you play manual on SS). Everything is too fast and COm never misses a pass or a shot.

This has been a problem for at least the last 3 years. Not every game, but every once in awhile, no matter how good a player you are, or how strong your team is, there will be 3-4 games per season where you just cannot beat the computer, even against a 2nd division team.

And yes, it is frustrating.

I'm more concerned about many goals in general. What are your opinion on that?

I see. I don't think I can provide you much comfort on that subject, and I'm not going to judge your playing ability, because I think an individual gamers skill is irrelevant when it comes to this problem. I consider my self a "good" player. Not beginner, and not expert. There have been a few games where I have come away very frustrated and have been beaten by low level teams by 4-5 goals.

Here are some things to consider that may help reduce the number of goals, even though you get beaten:

1. I know this is just a game, but maintain your composure, and a calm demeanor while playing every game makes all the difference in the world, to your overall game play and success. Here's why:

When I get angry, I make the following mistakes:

a. I tend to mash the sprint button too much and tire my players.
b. I tend to try to slide tackle everyone with the ball. Usually, I miss, which results in key players being out of position, and leads to a goal scoring opportunity for the other team.
c. I try to force the attack, which causes turnovers, which lead to counter-attacks.

2. Do not get frustrated or angry when the opposing team scores. Take a second to figure out what you could have done better, and try not let that happen again.

3. Once you realize it's "One of those games", accept that you will lose. With that mindset, you will tend to stay more calm.

4. Do whatever is necessary to maintain ball control at mid-field or in the attacking 3rd. Only attempt to score when you are certain you can get a shot off, and that you have enough players back on defense to prevent a fast counter attack.

5. And most importantly, have fun. Don't take it personally. Remember this is just a game.

I hope this helps.

Thank you. I will try that.

It isn't because I don't like to be scored against or matches with a lot of goals. But if it's every game, I just think the fun goes off a little

I see a lot of complaints about too many goals, but I don't have the issue at all. For reference, I play 10 minute matches on the top difficulty of Superstar and did notice that it was way too easy to score on the default level of Regular.

Right at the beginning I found the AI was able to chip or slide through balls into the space behind my defenders for an easy one-on-one with my keeper, so I worked on my defence set up. If you leave everything as per the default, you are essentially set up with a very high line, which will help you push forward for goals but will also leave you wide open at the back.

I think the team I took over to start in Master League had the defensive line at the midpoint (something like level 7). I drop it to level 3 as a starting point in matches now and have also moved the CBs as close as possible to the keeper on the pitch map and always ensure to have a DM. If I'm playing a long ball team (Man Utd in PES 2016 - LOL), I have to drop the defensive line a notch further to level 2.

There has also been some suggestion that the keepers have been made better in the last update a few days ago. I'm personally scoring fewer goals from lots of shots, but that could be that the new strikers I just bought are taking time to gel with the rest of the team.

I started playing on Super Star with default team and it was very frustrating. Every game was 5-4, 5-1, etc. Playing 15 minutes each game. I found out that in SS the AI is more aggressive so every time I scored they would score right away. I changed it to Top Player and it was the same thing, every time I score, they would score.
I decided to change the way I play and take my time scoring. If a team is weaker than mine, I would try different ways to score and just retain the ball. By doing that, I always get low score games ( 2-1, 1-0). When playing stronger teams, I just defend and play counter attack. I played against Real Madrid my first season and I only lost 1-0 because I was playing very defensive. Before I started to play like this, I played against Barca being aggressive and I lost 6-0. If you score first, just defend the best way you can and let them have the ball by covering the empty spaces. There's a video on you tube that teach you good ways to defend by zone covering.
I'm enjoying PES now playing this way.

I've only played 10-15 matches at BvB and it does appear to be a problem, I've conceded at leas two goals a game in all but two matches.

I've always been a very defence concious gamer, on past PES titles I've won championships with United, Everton, Forest (promotion) BMG and Benfica conceding 20 goals or less in a season on superstar/top player.

It's not that it's difficult to defend, it's that the AI is very, very clinical and the 'keepers are very, very poor so it's not you, your defence can restrict them to 2-3 shots per game but they all go in so it's a fault in the game-play.

The only advice I can give is what I'm going to try during my next Master League session, set your training regime for GK and defenders to "defence", it seems obvious but when a defender of mine lacks speed, I tend to train that side of his game, but maybe it should just be defence.

Also, when the opposition have the ball, switch the cursor and try and stay with the runner, almost forget about the player in possession if he's 25-30 yards from your goal.

Get your defence to drop back rather than press in your own half, cover the space, but on the edge of the box close them down because if they shoot, it will go in and be prepared for your keeper to sweep up behind and smoother through balls.

I'm going to see if any of that works tomorrow.

Also, a good goalkeeper makes a world of a difference.

I've got Courtois as my goalie and had to blow serious cash to buy him fromchelsea but it was totally worth it.

He is able to pull off saves from situations my other guy (mignolet) often conceded. Bailed me out a number of times.

I got Neuer between the sticks and he definitely seems to be getting better and better as the game progresses.

I'm conceding a lot less goals than previous seasons, it's a mixture of me getting better at defending and my keeper actually making decent saves.

Im having the problem of too few goals in my games. Most are 0-1 defeats with the odd 1-0 win or 2-1 defeat. Had a 5-1 loss which was one of those CPU scoring 5 out of 5 shots. I dont mind losing goals but for your Keeper to not even make 1 save is total BS from Konami.Fix the Keepers for heavens sake.
I play on manual shooting and its too hard. I dont know if i could play on Basic shooting as i was creaing 17 chanes a game against the AI on Pro level. Stepped it up to Top Player .

In my ML i have 53 goals for and 42 goals against in 19 games. Thats 2.79 goals for and 2.21 against. Im in 3rd place. Top team only has 35 goals for. 2nd bottom teams has 35 goals against.

If you try manual shooting that will reduce the number of goals drasticaly.
I wish they would sort out the Goalkeepers , normal goalkeepers dont let in every shot thats from the 8yard range.

That's what killed the game for me- I refused to 'work around' those scripted goals (low shot to either of the bottom corners) from the CPU teams. (I played on fully manual settings.) At least 95% of the CPU teams' goals went to the bottom corners of the net- it became very annoying, very quickly!

They are scripted goals, as your own goalkeeper is scripted not to save those low shots.

Yes, its strange though. I have played almost a full season on Top player, full manual. There was games when the AI played some good different attacks and scored some different goals. Then theres been games with the low corner shot goals, you can feel it coming. One of your defenders gets pulled out of position and then you are selected controll of the wrong defender and Bang before you know it its another low corner shot, keeper helpless. I think i am going to have to try and sit back and defend a bit more, especialy when you get that feeling the AI is upping its game.
Great PES appart from this, most fun ive had since pes6.
