What has changed since the latest update? Game feels different

I know it was just a roster update but could the player ratings have changed the gameplay this dramatically?

I've played hunderds of games online, my rating hovers around the 650 to 700 mark and on the average I score about 2 goals per game giving up just under 1 a game. The 1st game I played after the update I gave up a staggering 8 goals! losing 8-5... huh?!?! Unheard of scoreline, this has never happened to me in any PES game EVER. Since then I get scores of 5-4, 4-4. 6-3, 4-3 etc. I've always prided myself on my defense and like to play a balanced all around game creating scoring chances off counters and carefully crafted builidups but now it seems like its so fast, arcadish and completely out of wack.


Ill elaborate a bit futher, I feel a slight delay on player reaction which causes timing problems on defense and creating problems when switching defenders especially when wanting to take a last defender using the left stick to defend vs long passes. This was not a problem before.... Is it a lag issue created by the opponents? Is this what "lag switch" is ?
Is it me? or did something really change that I need to adjust to? Really not enjoying these crazy scorelines. Anyone else experience this? Its like they turned down the difficulty level or something :no: I do feel maybe a slight amount of suddle lag where it seems like my buttons are very sensitive, I don't know how else to explain this. Im sure its happened to you guys as well though. I reset my router/modem but still no change.

Yes, this is unfortunately true. There has been a discussion on this matter on the main article commentaries on Pesgaming.

I also feel the following:

Reaction to loose balls slower
First ball contact much more unprecise
Player running forward less than usual, or staying back more than usual
Players chasing loose balls like farm chicken happens too often.

Feels more like PES 2012 again, which is a step in the wrong direction.

My rating has dropped from 720 to 670. Playing only friendly to get used to the game again.


I hate to sound like a troll, but Konami have broken the game.

At first, I ridiculed the people who thought the download pack affected the game play. I was absolutely sure that this would be impossible, as it is just a roster update with perhaps a few edited player stats.

After intensive gaming, I came to the conclusion that I was wrong, and that the game play has been altered.

Add me to the list. I thought I was going crazy. lol. I haven't enjoyed a single game I played after the new DLC even the ones I won. High scoring lines too. How can a DLC effect the game play? That's absolutely crazy. Before I saw this thread I was blaming the servers.

Not much related to the topic but I just played a game and won 6-1 with Real Madrid. No sweat. First time playing with RM and just like I thought it is so easy to play with them.
Shooting gauge doesn't even matter with this team really, especially with you know who. I just pressed the shoot button and bam it's a goal, lol.
I'm pretty sure it's the same case with Barca :/

Old timer with the series here, so sad to see what pes/we became. What is Konami thinking?!!

Yep I pretty much agree with everything that is being said here especially....

Now the thing is people playing against me don't even take a first touch on the ball .they hold down the pass button to fill up the pass meter before even recieving a pass and the computer would make auto adjust the next pass for them with defenders all confused.(I play on manual)

Update: Think it's server related as I played offline and it felt just like it did prior to the DLC.

But offline and Online gameplay are usually different for most of the games right?

you may be right. For me the biggest issue is the slow response to swtich players on defense to put them in position to close down gaps and through passses. This is whats craeting so many goals vs my defense. Could be a slight lag issue thats casing it because also on offense I noticed that if you press the button too much it will load up an extra pass like when there's lag. Lets hope so ! I almost played last night but I didn't feel like getting into a 5-5 game so I turned it off lol

i really dont think its the servers, however, i never would have thought that a data pack could affect gameplay either...

My rating was 750 before... now is 500-530
i suck now... people with rating 300 can easly beat me... that never happened to me in PES 2011 and PES 2012.... i don't know if problem is in me or in the update.... i feel so powerless

Did you figure out how opponents are exploiting you? or are they beating you fair and square?

Hi there.

I’m going to take a wild guess that 99% of these losses you are suffering at against ppl using Real Madrid. The more I play the updated game the more I’m starting to think that its not the gameplay that changed but simply they made Real Madrid WAY too good. They over power opponents in every category and if you look now they have an A across the board. Things I notice playing vs Real Madrid, their shot accuracy while it was impressive before is simply off the charts not, 7 out of 10 shots will result in goals. They win nearly every 50/50 ball in the ground or in the air and their defenders are super fast and quick to catch up to any opponent.

I noticed this because obviously most of my online games are vs Real Madrid and also I play a friend on a regular basis, I beat him most of the time but since the update his goal scoring aveage against me has gone up drastically.

So what have I done to combat this? Well, I changed up my formation a bit, added more players in the defensive midfield to crowd the field, I also started man marking guys like Ronaldo, Higuaim or Benzema, depending on who they are playing up front as a CF. I don’t know how much this helps but I do it. Also, I tend to play more defensive, take less risks going forward especially if I have a lead already, I don’t park the bus but I tend to control the game defensively by lowering my attack level using L2+down, and one last thing, I’ve changed my formation style from counter attack and possession to all out defense. Changing to all out defense doesn’t mean you don’t attack, it seemly means you have a deeper defensive line to prevent quick counters from buring you. You could still go forward and attack by changing your attack level. You just need to figure out when the right time to attack is and when you should sit back and be patient.

Since I did these changes I’ve had better luck keeping the scores more reasonable and defending vs crazy through balls which the overpowered Real players seem to always get. This also prevents me from being burned on counter attacks since Im crowding the devensive side of my field.
