Why does KONAMI keep removing good things about previous PES games?

Oh God, I do! Pre season took forever when I need to meticulously complete the training regimes with every player. :D

What FIFA has now with those mini-games or training games, PES already had it. E.g. If you want to increase a players passing there was a minigame where it reflected a real training exercise like 'pig in the middle' where there was a circle of players passing the ball while a few players in the middle trying to win it back.

Now, the mini games in PES do not fully reflect training exercises unlike FIFA unfortunately. *sigh*

But yea, the training exercises in Master League was legendary.

^or at least take the epileptic fit causing PES flash out or tweak it so you didn't have to time the Start button exactly right. I must hit that start button 3 times before I get it to work out of sheer impatience. Then on the last one I push it very deliberately thinking that might be the issue. A simple x button skip will do.

seems like so much attention to the whole facebook/social media/twitter crap. Both EA and Konami seem to be waging a war on that front. Totally pointless.

Yeah, they do spend too much time on that Social media stuff, EA is rife with it, from The Sims to Fifa.

Noticeable absences from Master League this year are the ability to speak with players (not a huge deal) but ADJUST TERMS has been taken out. WTH

They could have such an epic ML, training and edit kit in ML. Anyone else annoyed by the cutscene of the managers office, where the tree is green outside all year round?

I miss the option to select "neutral stance" (or whatever they called it) when playing international cup. If you want to simulate the world cup it feels really unauthentic because there is one home team and one away team, and when the away team scores stadium is all quiet. Don't know why they removed that feature, but hope they bring it back.

yes, that is really annoying. i wish that even in league modus or CL the away fans would be present. even if they are lower in volume than the homw crowd. konami never watched a match when a popular away team brought thousands of fans with and they really party?

It seems as if Konami never really carry out market research to find out what we want because there is no way a die hard PES fan would have recommended the boots thing.

Well, someone said they are trying to be innovative well maybe they shouldn't because they are really bad at it.

At times i think the people designing this game know nothing about football, but then again they managed to make PES4, 5 and 6, or maybe they got lucky during those 3 years (in successfully create a very good game)

for example... boot editor! why to remove that? PES6 was truly the best...

I dont think (or maybe I dont want to) that KONAMI made a "good mistake" trough those three glorious years, because if the opposite is the truth, it may mean that we will never get such good games anymore. but if they didnt made PES6 by accident, why to remove the good features in the games that succeeded? inexplicable

I can only assume they have absolute retards in charge of certain departments within the konami team. Some the things they add an remove from the game are beyond unnecessary at times.

Maybe they are struggling with dvd9 limitations? Maybe to accomodate new animations and things, they had to remove bits, I don't know. I don't care that the league mode is gone and I am happy the useless club boss is gone, but if it is a space thing, I would rather they have no music and put back things like Snow, Mix and match kit parts, Name and number outlines, 2nd Keeper kits, Player + cash deals etc.

@ Drestafan - you CAN adjust terms, I got Hummels for £14m after they initially asked for £17m, and I said £12m. If it was the last day of the window, you have never been able to renegotiate, because the deal would fall through the next day.

ML way of showing player improvement has been made gradually worse.

Pes12 reached the bottom when only team overalls are shown.

Accumulated fatigue was more realistic in the ps2 days. You could consistently play the likes of Lampard like he would do in real life without needing to rest. You'd only need to occasionally sub off your fittest players at 75 mins or so.
In recent years fatigue has become a meta-game in itself, a crappy RPG where players with 90 stamina cannot last more than 2 consecutive games and don't recover even when taken off at half time. Coupled with the conditioning arrows (which insanely cannot be turned off in any competitions any more) means even the largest squads are under staffed and you have to make do with having 3 or 4 slugs in your team per game.

The AI also used to be acceptable in as much as they'd start the best 11 rather than who's got the best arrows. Again, in the past couple of years its been ridiculous, they bring strikers on for defenders, but leave them in defence! Higuain and Mandzukic have both come on at right back in my PES13 Champions league... and on PES12 grant holt came in at DMF whilst they threw 2 midfielders up front!

And lastly, they used to allow all edit mode changes to affect your competition. So say for example you set up a champions league and notice that Tello for Barcelona is laughably under-skilled, you could go to the edit mode and change his stats from the viewpoint of somebody who's actually watched Barcelona play this year. Since around PES11 this has been arbitrarily restricted, so any transfers and stat edits you make after starting a competition are not applied. Its crazy, especially as Konami know how much editing is needed to remedy their outdated, largely unlicensed game's shortcomings. Its effectively Konami saying, "we know when you buy our game you'll want to launch straight into a competition mode, but before you do that you'll need to manually update and edit EVERY player for every team before you can enjoy a realistic experience. Otherwise make do with van persie at Arsenal!"

I read an interview with the new head dev a while back, and he spoke of the old 'random selection' game mode and how he loved it himself + didn't know why it was removed from PES.

I remember reading (probably on this site) that they removed the random selection mix and match teams and games because they didnt recieve any feedback from fans on whether they liked it or not, this was in about 2008, before Konami had a feedback zone on this and other sites, the whole excuse is just ridiculous, the onus is on Konami to do some market research to find out what the fans want and don't... Great you have made the ML better and more realistic but removed the league mode for no good reason, why not have both?

Also, in PES2 version up until 2010, the International Cup, you had the option to play the Qualifiers.

Yeah, this was a big thing, it was great to qualify to the world cup.

crazy Konami.

ML has no depth comparing to FIFA, which for me is an ok game, with more depth. Gameplay is worse.

But the game is very good this year. I like it.

yeah, what's up with that.

In ML, I played With Real Madrid against Barcelona, and they didn't have Messi on the field??? WHOOOOOT. same with other teams, they never field their best eleven. Or they didn't have Xavi etc.

When we had the league mode, you could go and edit teams line-ups and in League mode opponents always fielded their best eleven that was edited from me. Of course sometimes they changed the players, but not like in ML.

yeah but even then the CPU would still throw in some stupid changes. On PES12 I went to the length of removing every non-regular, otherwise Liverpool would start Jones in net, with the likes of Wisdom and Pacheco starting in big games. It was nonsense. Only a few months ago I finally made it realistic, had to change player positions to stop the likes of Lescott starting LB. I had it perfect.... then PES13 came out and I had to do it alllll again.

Oh no wait, no I didn't, because theres no F'IN league mode!!!!

hahaha, :p

that's frustrating, and the thing is, if I it had the league mode and I edited those positions as you have done, then after a new option file update I should have done it again. SO that's a bit too much :crymore:

though it sounded good. Well we haven't that problem anymore, now it's ML and Barcelona starting without Xavi or Messi. Arsenal without Cazorla and Chelsea without who knows, I could go on and on.
