Why I think PES5 is terrible

I think pes5 is the worst of all versions of pes, and here is why. I used to play FIFA before I knew about winning eleven. I hated FIFA because a lot of features are built into the game so that the game player's skills do not matter in deciding the result of the game. For example, I remember whenever I was leading in an important game, the computer would script a combination of magical attacks by the opponent, and have them catch up with the score. This is true no matter how much I practice my defence.

I begin to see similar things in PES5 now. Apparently, they have re-programmed the control of the defenders so that they seem to run with inertia force now. When you run with the opponent and he turns away, you want your defenders to turn with him. But after you press the button, the player would typically still trun forward a little, and then turn back. This way, the opponent can fool your defenders easily (even though you as the game player are not fooled). This is frustrating, because the game is made artificially difficult. This is just one example. There are other similar changes to the game, such as in shooting and dribbling. The game maker's strategy is completely wrong, in my opinion. To make the game difficult, they could have designed a smarter AI and the game will be more fun. But they chose to do it by giving players less control. The game starts to look like FIFA now. I am so disappointed.

By the way, you should try the PSP version. It is the worst of all.

Your right about some of the problems with the game but there not the worst at all there's far bigger problems that destroy the game.

It sounds to me like you need to change your defending style. Don't just chase the ball like a headless chicken - read the game and use positioning to good effect.

Try and adapt to the changes yourself, because the game's not going to adapt to suit your style.

No there are fundamental flaws in the game system that you can't do anything about you could adopt your playstyle to counteract these flaws...but is that how the game should be played?...no you shouldn't have too,And with every new version these flaws remain and system is more refined which is good but I'd much prefer them to address real problems instead of just adding to the game.

Today I beat real madrid 6-0 yes the game can be difficult sometimes but you just have to take the good with the bad.pes 5 is the best in the series you just have to adapt to it the new gameplay can be frustraiting at times once you have mastered it you'll be smashing in goals from 40yrds.

Pes 5 is not diffuclt it's one of the easiest...3 was hard this game is relativlery easy..not as easy as pes 4 though.

side step

how many people think it is terrible that to get a side step now you do not have to press any R keys any more? Now when you play the game, the players do sidesteps all the time whenever you accidentally press the direction key to the "wrong" direction. This is one of the most annoying changes to me.

Well, frankly, I don't care if I master the game, the AI is still shit. I agree that there are triggers to give the AI the advantage.

I agree with some of the issues of the defence, and while you can alter tactics and use super cancel to avoid some of these, there are a few underlying factors that need to be addressed.

This is most apparent when I play the computer, playing another player I forget those things and have just have a laugh.

No game is perfect and no doubt will still have have complaints 10 years down the line. But you have to admit it is the best football game and probably always will be.

I think the defender momentum thing is fine; from playing with friends it seems to me that defense and offense are pretty fairly balanced in this version. When defending a guy who's trying to cross, for example, it's all about the guessing games: when to be conservative and shimmy with R2, when to lunge, when to chase him down running, etc. I dunno, I have really few complaints about the multiplayer scene.

what is the point of another winey i hate pes5 thread. its quite obvious that these threads start the day some kid who thinks he is good at games buys pes5 goes home loses 10 times in a row to Egypt starts crying and looks for consolidation on this forum. Well get over it, its a hard game but far less buggy than any of its previous versions and far more realistic. Once you have learned all the controlls and practiced as much as me you will love it and think why did i start this winey pointless thread. Good day!

"defenders run with inertia force now". Umm, I don't see anything wrong with that. PES5 & WE9 are Football Simulation game, not arcade type as the previous or FIFA. I don't think anything wrong with that specifically. Try yourself running like hell and then turn back to other direction to see what happen to yourself. It's the same, right? That's realism. We're not playing arcade style football here, it's realism simulation football.
