Why is shooting so bad?

Shooting in this game is so ridiculous. It's a gamble whenever you shoot. I can be 10 yards away and I tap the shoot button and It goes way over the bar. I can go loads of power 25 yards away and it hits it soft along the ground.

Honestly, it's really bad. Also shots don't get directed. Whatever you do it goes straight.

I think in real life players do have some control on how they shoot.

It's not simulation. Pro players have a lot of control, most average people can get it in the right general direction and height they want.

I am starting to really like the shooting actually.

I use a lot of R2 shooting and the ball seems to go where I direct it with the occasional howler. About a 80%/20% ratio that seems fair to me.

I also do the R1 knock on power shot.

The main problem is you just seem to always have to hold down two buttons to do everything you want to do in the game. The more I play the more I like that though as you can mix in a little L2 action with your R2 and then R1 when you feel like it. Once you come to grips with it, it almost becomes 2nd nature as to what combo to use in what situation.

I honestly think shooting in this game is so dreadful because of next seasons full control shooting. I think they made this one so bad so that fully manual shooting will be hailed as a massive improvement. As long as they make normal shooting like 2011 - 1 on 1, press shoot and r2 with a direction and your player will open his body and shoot to the keepers side - I will be satisfied.

Also, I don't get the R1 thing, is it the other chip shot or a power shot? It has done both for me on this years game, and the strong shot still goes straight up the middle.

Funny this, I have Sammy's option file for ps3 and had been adjusting boots for teams. Had no real issues with shooting.

But then last night I started a 2012 copa liberatadores and you can't edit the boots in that mode. Using Nacional in my first 4 games played I outshot the CPU but the shots were all over the place wearing those konami boots.

Can changing the boots to real boots really make this much difference?

I have, but I mostly use a custom ML team, I always end up with some of the best players though - Messi, Benzema, Hazard, re-gen Del Piero, created me etc. I don't usualy change the boots, but for the created me I use some kind of Adidas Preditor of some kind. The only time I have chose boots for better shooting is in my BAL, and at the moment, I think my guy is to poor for it to make a difference.

Ok just played a game as Tottenham. Van Der Vaart scored a scorcher from about 28m out. Collected a ball played on by Modric and turned and cut diagonally, unleashed and found the right corner and then back of the net.

Van Der Vaart was wearing the dark blue Nike's. The CTR 360's I think.
