Wrestling Video Games (WWE '13)

He was better in Revenge. Plus when you'd copy his move as another wrestler with a soundbyte (Rick Steiner, Sting, Kim Chee), they'd clap their hands and shout their respective thing rather than 'Oh Yeah!' So when Savage copied Rick Steiner's barking he'd shout 'Oh Yeah!' instead.

Did anyone ever try being Scott Steiner and copying Rick's bark taunt? Weird shit.

They done a great job on Savage.

Fair do's, they've done well. Was expecting him to not even have entrance attire.

Nearly everyones movesets are off but thankfully there's some people out there with a brain who can change it to what it should be for you to download.

I admit it, I'm gonna buy this. And from the rumblings I've heard, I can see a proper legends sim game being made in the future, not like that huge disappointment Legends of Wrestlemania was.

If they're going to do another Legends game please Christ give it to AKI, I could die a happy man.

I thought AKI were out of business now? If it happens, it'll still be with the same people. From what I've heard from the people that have played this, the gameplay has improved. Savage v Steamboat in a created arena with red, white and blue ropes, that'll do me for now.

EDIT They're called Syn Sophia now.

They are indeed. But they've said they'd like another crack at a wrestling game if someone gives them a shot at some licence.

Surely it can't be that difficult for another developer to recreate the mechanics that AKI used? As brilliant as they were they were reasonably basic, particularly by modern standards.

I should be picking this up next week. I didn't buy 2011, so the Universe mode will be new to me - it still sounds like it has some pointless restrictions, and I don't know how much I'll use it, but we'll see.

The trophy/achievement list looks tedious.

I'm still a bit disappointed Gametrailers are yet to review this game. I trust their judgement and reviews above any other websites if I'm honest.

I may see how the response to WWE 12 pans out over the next couple of weeks, and then make a decision whether to add it to my Christmas list or not - seeing as I've already got a stack of games I need to plough through - most notably Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7 which will be arriving in a couple of hours.

So far, the biggest thing that's pissed me off is you can't have a Royal Rumble in a created arena.

So what edition of WWE '12 are you guys buying?

I feel like for the first time in years, I may actually have a blast with this game. I'm loving all things WWE this year (as many will know), and I've really rekindled my love for the sport, so I could see myself wasting many hours on WWE '12 - even just in exhibition mode, attempting to recreate realistic, long matches.

I know there is The People's Edition, including the obvious content of The Rock as a playable character. Surely though, The Rock will be unlockable in the normal version of WWE '12. He has to be, right?

I don't mind paying for him as part of a DLC bundle to be honest, seeing as in order to get him at the moment, you've got to buy the special edition of the game which seems to be a full £40 on all websites. It's the equivalent to paying for DLC anyway isn't it?

I think I may ask for the regular WWE '12 game for Christmas, and just buy any DLC that's released since I've quite a few spare Microsoft Xbox 360 points lying around, thanks to Tesco's Modern Warfare 3 deal.

I keep forgetting about the different arenas that we'll be able to wrestle in. I cannot wait to use some old WCW arenas.

EDIT: I've just had a dig around via Google, and can confirm, that The Rock will be available to download as DLC. The bad news though, is that the DLC including The Rock won't be available to purchase for 90 days following the game's release. It's easy to understand why THQ have done it, from a business perspective. It just sucks from the perspective of the fans though, especially in the build up to Christmas. £40 for any game thesedays is a lot of money, even Call Of Duty games, so to almost be forced to pay that amount in order to experience a character as great as The Rock is a bit frustrating.

Will The People's Edition simply include a code inside the box do we think in which you redeem to download The Rock's character in-game? If so, fingers crossed a few pop up on eBay for cheap, although it'd of course be stupid of someone to throw their code up no doubt.

"THQ announced that none other than The Rock will be this year's pre-order incentive for WWE '12. Gamers who don't pre-order don't have to worry as he'll be featured as DLC.

WWE '12 Creative Director, Corey Ledesma answered a worried fan's question on twitter if The Rock will still be available if you don't pre-order WWE '12.

He said:

"I don't know why you wouldn't preorder, but yes you can get them as paid DLC 90 days after release."

Not only will The Rock be available as DLC but extra costumes for The Miz as well. If you miss out on pre-ordering WWE '12 before November 22nd and 25th in North America and Europe respectively, there's always the chance to purchase the extra content as DLC 3 months after WWE '12 has been released.

This has been common practice for many game publishers, including previous WWE video games. Bret Hart was a pre-order exclusive for Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 only to be featured as DLC for a few extra dollars months later. The same thing holds true for Stone Cold Steve Austin when he was made as a pre-order exclusive for the PS3 version for Smackdown vs. Raw 2010. He was released on the PSN and Xbox LIVE as DLC too.

In other words, if you don't pre-order WWE '12 before its release in November, there's still a chance you can get The Rock as DLC at a later date."

So what edition is everyone buying then? And where from?

I'm in quite a dilemma here at the moment. There's a few different editions flying around, at different prices. We have the standard WWE '12 video game available on all sites it seems for the price of around £34.99.

However, Zavvi have WWE '12 (with The Rock DLC) available for the very reasonable price of £37.95 (not forgetting TopCashback or Quidco will knock a couple of pounds off too - as well as with other sites).

Then there is Amazon, who are selling WWE '12 with The Rock DLC, but also including DLC for The Miz, such as extra attires, for the price of £39.71.

Now, alternatively, there is Play selling The People's Edition for £44.99 - which includes The Rock on the front cover, as well as a nice fancy sleeve for the case. Also included is I assume a mini-poster of The Rock, a trading card of The Rock, and also a WWE DVD with matches from 'Greatest Superstars of The 21st Century'. What's confusing about this particular release, is that the WWE DVD is usually a 3-disc set, valued at around £15, however there only seems to be one of the discs included in this People's Edition (I assume disc 2, as the number '2' is written on the front of the DVD). Still, it seems like a fair price, for what is essentially a slightly more fancy edition.

The bottom line is, I think I'll be asking for it as a Christmas present. I can't really afford to be stumping up full price for a game at the moment, so instead, I can just wait a few weeks and receive it as a nice gift. This ultimately means that delivery isn't exactly a major issue, as receiving it on release day isn't a big deal. I'm just stuck as to which particular edition to ask for. After seeing Survivor Series, I'm pretty adament that I want to be able to play as The Rock, instead of having to wait months for the DLC to be released (for those who only bought the standard edition). However, having The Miz's alternate attires might be quite cool too, and for very little extra cost - while on the other hand, Play's The People's Edition looks great in terms of artwork, and I'm sure I'd watch the bonus DVD too.

Thoughts guys?

:hmm:

I used Amazon, not that I give a shit about The Miz DLC extras. Don't see the point of the People's Edition. I'd go with Zavvi, Amazon or ShopTo.
