RDR was awesome.

I will have to go for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

Good thread.

:D

I'm surprised nobody else made one, so thought I'd nick in and take all the glory

Of the games I've played, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood is miles ahead of all the rest, with, perhaps, the exception of RDR, which is quite close behind. My vote goes to ACB though.

I got ACB for Christmas... so I can finally start to see what all the fuss is about. Haven't played too much so far, but even after the last game, you can tell how much more it has improved. The improvement between the first and second game was massive, I just hope they don't ruin the franchise by bringing a new one out every year, like they intend to.

I guess there's no Halo fanboys on here then?

Think next year may be a tougher choice, RDR is the runaway leader this time, but lots of good sequels coming out next year.

Matt, get an Xbox360

WOAH. You can just end that braintrain right now, I will never sink to that. Never never never.

I also forgot to say yeah, but PES was absolutely outstanding this year. Best PES ever.

That's right, I went there.

voted for Black Ops even though its been a bit shit online for PS3 users - but credit to Treyarch they've actively released patches to try & fix it.

I personally didn't get the big fuss with RDR, sure it was enjoyable but for me it just got very repetitive...this was also my problem with the first Assassin's Creed (you'd spend ages travelling, jump into some hay from a tall building, kill the boss) - for that reason I haven't purchased the newest one although I hear it's improved a great deal?

Battlefield was good but I resorted back to CoD very quickly due to everyone else on my friends list playing it.

Agreed. I really enjoyed the original Assassin's Creed...while I played it. I never finished it mind as it soon became quite repetitive, however I am contemplating buying the latest game, either that or Sims 3.

A game that I forgot to mention before, but really does deserve a mention has to be Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4. It was released around mid-year, and it's such an in-depth game. I honestly can't remember having that much fun playing a single player game since the original BioShock. So while I'd still probably opt for Black Ops because it's truly fantastic online (Xbox 360), Lego Harry potter really does deserve to be mentioned in this thread.

The Three Amigos
ANYTHING but Black Ops.

Not been a great year IMO for new releases, so I'll go for the whole Kinect concept.

Voted Red Dead, because it's the game I've spent the most time on in 2010.

Another that I may've been itching to vote for had it made the list is NFS: Hot Pursuit. Some might argue that it gets 'samey' after a while, but considering you get two separate careers (cop and racer) and how the events differentiate when you're only given certain weapons to use, there's more than enough variety in it for my liking.

Criterion know how to make a fun racing game - the online aspect of Burnout Paradise was fucking superb, as was the technical support for the game, and it looks like they're doing the same with this one too. Yeah, I love Criterion Games more than any of you will care to know.

EDIT: And while I loved Heavy Rain for what it was, I'd hardly class it as a 'game' - there's a niche in the market for 'games' like Heavy Rain, sure, but it isn't as involving as I'd hoped.

Sin City
Mass Effect 2 hands down for me, although Red Dead Redemption was superb in it's own right also, but I think ME 2 is in a class of it's own.

Agreed. I thought MW 2 was the most overrated piece of turd ever, so I can't see Black Ops being much better. Surely it's no coincidence that the initials spell out CoD: B.O? We all know that B.O is very smelly, therefore, CoD: B.O is a very smelly game, as it smells of both fish AND body odour..... simple logic really ;)

I played Burnout Paradise quite a bit, bought it when it was a bit cheaper, so I may do the same with NFS.

So you've not actually played Black Ops? :faceplm:

Another game I'm throwing out there is Cradle of Rome 2.

I don't own Black Ops, but I've played it very briefly. Hated it just like I hated MW 2. To be fair, if I was good at it (strangely, I was ok at the first MW game), I might like it more. But for me, I can believe all the awesome reviews it gets, it's just an average FPS game... nothing stands out.
