Are we really looking forward to anything this guy says? Really?

On the topic of marketing, I strongly believe that is an old excuse for the very poor products that Konami and the "Fish" have been releasing recently.

Shaun7
".....the only reason why **** is so popular is because of their marketing and strategies. Konami doesn't market their game well enough especially compared to EA, so it's obvious that fifa will outsell pes especially in recent years where EA invested more in the marketing department to cater for more people. This alone though does not prove that pes is garbage."

With social media and so many great gaming sites such as IGN and many others, most gaming studios get good publicity from these reviewers. How about independent sites such as this Pesgaming or Pesfan.....aren't those sites promoting the product too?

Not to mention gaming magazines such as GameInformer. If your game is up to scratch it will be mentioned. PES cannot complain about "advertising", their product is well known worldwide ....even through its competitors.

Buyers of any game always look to see what its competitors are doing.
BF3 did really well last year because of the direct competition it had with COD. Your product really sells itself.

If you are doing worst than your competition ...don't blame it on their great adverts .......blame it on your poor product.

PES is sheit and has been for more than a few year now. Period

^That may be true, however there are many casual gamers who think pes is nothing when they haven't played it simply because they saw the other game on commercials.

"Your product sells itself?"
I am not really sure about that. For example COD has been going downhill but many noobs still play it because it has everything. A good marketing campaign being one of them. No matter how good of a product you have, without a good marketing strategy, it won't sell as much.

In this age, marketing is more important that having a good game. Ofcourse, if you have a good marketing strategy and a good game it will be better off, but form a sales point of view, marketing sells more than game quality.

Don't worry, shooting will be fixed as it will be more manual and there will be power shots according to KONAMI after our feedback was submitted

I like it compared to PES 2011, but overall it is frustrating and I only enjoy it when it decides to be good. At times I feel like ripping my hair out but at times I sigh and think to myself what a great representation of the beautiful game PES is. However that is only a minority of times

So what? As long as it keeps selling relatively well annually, PES will still be made every year.

FIFA sells 25 million a year which is far superior to PES as that sells at the most 2 million. I wouldn't call that relatively well

I'll see if I look for the info myself, but do know how the selling ratio of FIFA vs PES compares, in terms of PS2 sales and PS3 sales?

EDIT

That's quite a decline, and in truth, Konami deserved worst than that.

But sales in average have improved from few years back so if PES 6 sold 3mil from a few years back, I'd expect if PES improved from PES 6 at a gradual rate that PES 2012 to sell around 15million but that has declined mainly because of KONAMI losing trust in their fans - we submit feedback which KONAMI don't listen to, the gameplay hasn't revlotionalised enough in a year etc. Marketing isn't a huge priority as if PES 2008 had the same or better gameplay to PES 6 with crappy advertising, it'd sell more. But PES 2008 was such a shock of a game that people chose FIFA from there whilst other stuck with PES 2008 hoping for a better game next year. From there, FIFA has always had better gameplay than PES until this year when KONAMI actually focused on it. This is why FIFA sells more, because it is still the same shitty game from FIFA 08 which was better than PES 2008 apart from minor improvements. KONAMI need to convince us that they can produce a game without messing it up next year and so far, they don't have a decent game - PES 2011 was unresponsive and had bugs
- PES 2012 the passing system is horrid

PES12 was like playing on FIFA International back in the day, a game geared solely towards attacking and scoring goals, it made for a diabolical Pro Evo in my opinion, very unrealistic which is what everyone wants isn't it? realism.

It is for video games in general. Konami still makes money off of it.

Also, reviewers only make a small percentage of the sales.

Surprising since KONAMI hardly spend time on marketing and glossing. I'd expect much more sales though if they spent time branding their product
