Right, need some advice music files. I'm attempting to create a CD for a work colleague, I've got the music, I've got my DJ software and I've got a programme for remastering tracks. Problem is, my DJ Software does not support Apple Lossless, which I find, offers the best quality. If convert to MP3 the max bit rate for conversion is 320kbps, which on some tracks is a drop of over 600kbps.
Is there anyway to retain the inflated Kbps on the tracks, I'm guessing not but is there at least a way to exceed 320kbps on MP3 format? |

My missus wants to buy a 2nd hand laptop off her friend at work, its chronically slow and after checking the systeminfo on command Prompt I can see it was factory reset at the end of March.
I've checked the serial number with the model maker and it suggests it was bought in January 2009 ... but my missus mate said they bought it 18 months ago. Now I know her mate is talking bollocks but my missus thinks her sister who's an IT bod can work wonders on it which is horse shit. How can I track a full history of activity back end? I want a full history, access to the boot manager and a history of OS changes or wipes, how can I do this as I am unsure/cannot find a way to locate a complete system history. |

As for the serial and model numbers, did you check on a website which clearly stated the machine was bought in January 2009 or simply that it was manufactured then? Nifty may disagree with this next bit: I can't stand the belief that people who work in IT understand things like this. Some do, of course they do, but others only know what they need to know for their job and can't tackle any other sort of problem even if it is almost identical to what they're used to. My eldest sister is an IT manager and sorry but she knows jack shit compared with me. That isn't me saying I know everything, I'm just saying that she doesn't. |

there's no way to check past install history as installs usually require formats to do so.
IT managers genuinely know nothing computer wise, but offer a buffer between the full on computer nerds of the it department and the client that needs help, like the it crowd.

Not sure this is the right thread but anyways.......
I use Google chrome with ad and pop up blocker on but what's annoying me recently is every other word is being highlighted and if I go over it with my cursor i'm greeted with the same ''WIN AN IPHONE'' message. Anyway to stop words getting highlighted like this? Also, i'm getting this pop up ad on nearly every website when i'm buying something. ![]() I've tried manually blocking it with the ad block but just pop's up from the bottom right corner when you click on another item and it is quite a large pop up. How do I stop this crap?????????????????????? |

I keep getting random sounds popping up out of nowhere even when I've closed my browser. It's usually random ads but sometimes it's music too. It started yesterday when I watched something on the 4OD site where I was prompted to install and updated version of Flash. Could this be relevant to the problem? If so, how do I go about solving it?
I use Windows 7 and I'm not sure what other information is needed but thanks in advance to anyone who can help me get rid of these irritating sounds. |

Having issue with my router, port 4 keeps flashing at high speed but there is nothing connected to that port!
There is nothing connected either hardwired or wirelessly and the lights that flicker showing traffic are steady. Connection has been slower than normal yet still okay. Oddly, my pc is having problems too, not sure if It's linked? The missus pc is fine though. Tried a reset but the situation is still the same. Can't find anything from a quick net browse. The router is a sky netgear job, but I cannot see a model number on it. Any ideas?

Fixed my pc, was an issue with windows, self repaired, updated and is now clean & clear. Still have the issue with the router though. Have changed the wep key and adjusted a few security settings after a full reboot, but to no avail...
Still hoping someone might have an idea.
