Figo Wants National Team Return

The Real Madrid midfielder plans on making a shocking return with the Portuguese national team.

According to reports coming from Spain, Luis Figo has already spoken with Luis Felipe Scolari about this possibility and the coach confirmed that the international star will be part of the Portuguese group which will face Slovakia and Estonia in June for the World Cup qualifiers.

This would be an unexpected u-turn for Figo who had declared his intention of quitting international football last year following the Euro 2004.

This is possibly because of his recent lack of starting games for Real Madrid, Figo has said he dropped his national duties to commit himself fully to his club, but has seen himself starting on the bench in recent games.

Zidane Hints At France Return

Retired France midfielder Zinedine Zidane has hinted at a dramatic return to the national team as they struggle to qualify for the World Cup next year.
"I’ve already said the French team was the most beautiful thing that happened to me,” he told L’Equipe. “It would be nice for me to come back, but I do not want to talk about it.

"The biggest risk (in qualifying) is the game in Dublin against Ireland. That is the only one, I’m sure of it.

"You know it will not happen but come back and play in Dublin, in front of a 50,000 crowd, win and then leave, I would like it. Yes, I would like it.”

Perhaps Zizou wants to help out the struggling French team, already coping with 5 legends retiring since Euro 2004. Thuram has commented on a potential return to the French squad by saying his reapperance would not have much impact.

Yeah, Figo was dropped from the last 2 matches, and sadly I might say that Real are doing mighty fine without him. I can't see him return to the national team, though, and for Zizou he already cleared it up that he's NOT going to return to Les Bleus.

On the other hand, Looks like Lux ( like that, huh?) is going to stay. I hope for Real he does. A great coach.

Zidane rules out France comeback

Zinedine Zidane has ruled out an international comeback to help France qualify for the World Cup.
The 32-year-old Real Madrid midfield man appeared to open the door for a return after ending his France career.

But he told French sports daily L'Equipe: "I said I was stopping playing for France.

"You know very well that when I have made a decision, the decision has been made. I'll stick to my decision. I can assure you France will qualify."

Zidane added: "I heard on television that it was possible I would come back. It's not right, I think it's a pity because it calls everything into question and contradicts what I said.

"I don't want to think I'm the saviour of the team and I don't want people to think I'm the saviour of the team. Such behaviour would be pure conceit and I never behave like that."

Les Bleus are currently top of their group with Israel, but the Republic of Ireland and Switzerland are only a point behind, each with a game in hand.

France have been struggling in qualifying having scored just five goals in six games.

Hopefully Stam will think about a return to the Dutch national team, we do have some ok defenders but I just like Jaap Stam, I think the oponent will shit themself just because his face

all the returns would make quite an impact on the team, especially zidane. thuram will make a difference, unlike what he said. france need a defender like him at the back. without zidane the french team has not creativity or build-up of play whatever. i don't like figo at all, he's just another del piero; slow and inconsistent. he would be a great substitute though
