Time for some story lessons

Classic Kits

Atlético Celaya 1995-1996 (Mexican 1st Division)

Home/Away:

If you are a Real Madrid fan, or a dedicated football fan, you might have heard of this team. Following a very poor season in 1994-1995, with only 8 appearances and just 1 goal, "el Buitre", Emilio Butragueño, moved all the way to the other side of the Atlantic ocean to sign with the newly promoted Atlético Celaya, in Mexico.

Celaya, which was formed the previous year with the merge of 3 teams from the 2nd division: Atlético Cuernavaca, Atlético Español and Ecuestre Celaya, became the "Cinderella Story" of the season, going all the way to the National Final against Necaxa.

However, and just like the real Cinderella, there wasn't a happy ending after the dance against Necaxa. Despite a 1-1 draw after 2 games (1st one in Celaya and the 2nd one in the Legendary Estadio Azteca), the League Officials declared Necaxa as Champions "thanks" to the away goal in the 1st Game... being this the first and only time in about... ehh... ever, that such "rule" was applied...

And just like that, the fast rise to prominence of the club turned into a slow demise. Despite the fact that other former members of Real Madrid's "La Quinta del Buitre" joined Celaya in the next years (including Hugo Sánchez himself, the best striker my country has ever produced, or at least that's what most people say over here), the team could never return to a Championship Final...

Celaya would cease to exist in 2003, when the federation decided to relocate the team because of economical problems, poor performance (Butragueño retired in 1998) and poor entrance...

The team would return to life with a new name, Celaya FC, several years later, in 2007, entering the Mexican 3rd Division. In 2011, the team won the Promotion Final against Tampico Madero, and returned to the 2nd Division, reviving the memories of "el Buitre" and his mighty "Toros"...

However, despite it's incredible rise and fall, these "Toros" aren't the most recalled of the 90's... it was another "Toros" Squad, much more powerful, which appeared in 1993, the ones who earned the title of "Best No-crown King" in Mexican Football history...

But I'll tell you about them some other time, when I finish all my requests, and of course, their PES replica kits As a hint, take a look at my sig.

Now, some pics:

I hope you liked this little story

Regards!

between you and me, and being a hardcore Necaxista...
that final is the only one i am ashamed to have won, i actually would have prefered to lose it cause i hated the way they won

Plus, Uwe Wolf's marking on Richard Zambrano was downright assault and battery :s ive never seen anyone get massacred to that level and not even get a yellow card :s

id much rather have won against Santos, we lost that final due to karma

OMG!!! You made it???

It's my favourite Toros Neza video evaaa!!!! I'm officially your number one fan!!!

And you have the classic Neza team???

Please, try it! I've been working to recreate some of the players from that squad, but you see, I'm not that good at making faces. For example: I took me almost a week to make Sebastian González "Chamagol", and I'm still not completely convinced it looks like him

So please, if you can upload the formula, at least for Mohamed, i'd be extremely happy

About that Necaxa win: Yes, it was rather strange. I was very small at that time, but when I learned that Necaxa won, I remember I was like "What? But... but they tied, right daddy? Why did Necaxa won?" (yes, I was very, very little :P)

And yes, I'm planning to do the "Big Bull" jersey soon enough

Anyway, I'll resume with my pending uniforms now

Regards!
