Budgets

Is there any way to adjust the budgets in ML?

Basically, I have plenty available in transfer money, but nowhere near enough in wages, and would like to reduce the amount I have for transfers and increase the wage total.

I don't think so no, from what i've seen so far its all automatic.

The less players you have in your squad the more wage budget you have, I found when I sold/released loads of players I had a lot more wage budget.

ML Budgets

This really bugged me as i thought it would be the same as FM where you can adjust your budgets!

I never found a way to adjust these.

I went Cardiff City in the Championship at the end of ML season 1 I ended up with 23 million in the Bank and only 100k wages so my negotiations kept breaking down as the club couldn't afford the wages. (I signed free agents and then sold them to try and make some money for transfers, Van Der Vaart, Alex among other players)

I finished 2nd and got promoted. I was given 900k (on top of my 23 million) for transfer budget and 4.5 Million wages.

Would be intersting to know if there was a link between the two or whether it was the promotion factor that significantly increased the wages.

I'm struggling as Mallorca in terms of bringing players in, simply because of the wages. I can live with the 3m in transfer money.

I love the new financials in this game. Because they are much more realistic.

It used to be, in PES, had total control of the bank account. We were pretty much the coach, manager and owners of the team. We had access to ALL income. Which was absurd, because we were making money hand over fist. And did whatever we wanted with it.

Finally, in PES 2017, we are treated as managers only.

We just make money for the owners, while they throw us a bone once in a while, depending on how well we do.

I won the Europa League recently and got around 5.5m in prise money - happy with that to be honest, expect double that for winning the Champions League.

I got promoted from Serie B (through the playoffs as i came like 6th in the league), and got a 1.5million bonus to salary, then when the new year started I have a 3million salary budget. I signed a few new people, but then when I had to renew an existing contract had no money. It is a bit wierd the way they do it this year compared to previous years.

I got a contract renewal warning last night from the sporting director so it looks like you do still get the normal reminders this year.

I'm happy with it either way around. This way, does prevent abuse of the system a bit though.

I think they probably had lots of people buying players that they couldn't then retain in future seasons. I nearly had that in PES 2016, when I brought in Drogba and Gerrard on free transfers. I scraped into the Premiership through the play-offs in my first season. If I hadn't, I'd have had to sell one of them. But the daft thing last year was that you could sell the free transfer players for way too much money, essentially generating as much income as you liked. In my first season, I got offers for the above two players at about 18M and 23M.

This change prevents that, as you can't just bring in a host of free players, use them for a while then sell them on for huge profit. Of course, a more realistic solution would have been to make free transfer players very difficult to sell on. But then people would complain that they were bankrupted in the game by being stuck with these players.

So ultimately it's a good change.

That said, it is wrong that I have just gained a 75 OPR rated youth team player that wants 750K in salary. I only have about 300K salary budget, so this youth team player is stuck where he is for now.
