I think Denmark could be tricky but they should be too strong.

Looking at their possible route, a semi final appearance could be quite likely. I'd worry about them defensively if they suffered injuries/suspensions.

We showed that we can beat anyone on a good day, and lose to Hiddink on every other day. The group is filled with nations clearly below us on a qualitative level, but maybe that is our potential downfall.

Regardless, my gut says we'll get through first place anyway, which will see us play the nr.2 in Group F. Common sense says it will be Paraguay/Slovakia, but it will be be Italy scraping through the group after a shit start.

1G (Brazil?) - 2H (Chile?)

We play the winner in the quarter-final, then someone like England, Germany or France (ha) in the semi's.

Conclusion: We're in the wrong side of the schedule. I'd have preferred to be in A to D rather than E to H.

Robben will be back in something like a week, normally this injury is a 4-week deal but he's trying all sorts of stuff. This opens the door for Van der Vaart or Kuyt in the starting eleven and I'm not sure who to play. Van der Vaart has the technique, the style, the genius, but Kuyt always comes through with a fist-pump when it matters most.

Here's a shifty question for you Barry: if you won the World Cup wouldn't it feel wrong that this group of players did it yet the group you had with Cruyff and then again with Van Basten didn't do it and those two sets of players were far better?

Interesting question. I don't think I'd feel bad about it, both Cruyff's and Van Basten's group somehow fell down under the weight of their collective egos. If you somehow disregard all the stories and such, then yeah, I guess it'd be kind of strange to win with a group that is not as talented as it was in '90 or '74, or even '94 and '78. Or maybe even '98, when we should have won it.

There's egos in this group though, but they seem hungry to win this shit and they disregard any story that has nothing to do with what they want.

Great to see van Nistelrooy scoring again. I can't believe he wasn't inm the WC - would've done much better in that Robben occasion on the final;

He's 34. Apparently he's scored 6 in 3 games for Hamburg this season so that's probably why he got called up again.

Puyol would have caught him for sure, or Pique. But yeah, he probably wouldn't have made such a fucking ridiculous dive after failing terribly.

Ruud got called up after Van Persie got injured, if it's up to me they stick with him. You just have to love this late-in-his-career version of Van Nistelrooy. Working hard, making the right moves.....kind of like Raul but with superior finishing.

36 in 2012. He'd probably still be firing on all cylinders. The guy is a goal machine where ever he goes.

I see old Bert has had the good graces to drop De Jong from the team. From what I've been reading, it seems as though quite a few people in Barry's shit country have had something to say about the dirty cunt.

Quite right too. I had to laugh when I heard Brian Kidd say De Jong ''isn't that kind of player''. I wonder how many times that term will be used again this season.

I don't know what happened to him. At Ajax he was much softer, and much better and confident at going forward. I don't remember him tackling a whole lot either. Regardless, he just doesn't need this to be good at what he does., hopefully this is a wake-up call of some sort.

Ben Arfa, Stuart Holden, that Xabi Alonso kick, the Japan friendly where he could have seriously injured someone......the man is just a danger and barely ever gets the red card.
