Great,

I am now playing PES5 with my girlfriend at my side. Then it will be a better game for sure.

Pes5 isn't sh**. but people have the right to complain because it doesnít seem to reward your efforts for playing lots. (me anyway) At first I got really paranoid thinking it was me that couldnít do any good on 5* with lots of 0-0 or1-0 but then I found out many players are having the same problem.

The really good players say you should use lots of patience and concentration but to be honest if I wanted to use them in abundance I would play chess.

I have found myself playing fifa06 more because for me it is easier and goals pop in more often for the AI also I should mention. The problem is the fifa06 gameplay isnít as good as Pes5.

Another point that people donít mention is the importance of finally mastering the game which doesnít seem possible for the majority of pes players. Of course you want a good lifespan from the game but itís also good to know it can be finally mastered on all levels.

For me if pes6 isnít based more on fun this year like pes4 I will make the permanent switch to fifa. I am no pesfan or fifafan I just want to enjoy my gaming.

My words exactly....I feel exactly the same as you do.
I love PES5 but i find myself playing FIFA and enjoying it more, even at the hardest level.

Well...at the end of the day games are all about having fun, and with PES5 sometimes I find it hard to (as many of you do). Sure with time we will get better, However...time might be hard to come by for some of us.

I think we all like a challenging game, but we also like to enjoy it at the same time.

Well I play both games, When one does'nt satisfy I play the other....works for me...

Pes5 is utter rubbish. I sold the game to some poor soul on ebay after a month because I got tired of the idiotic fouls. That was the final straw for me. personally I think pes4 got the balance just right. Konami have this idea in their heads that if its not broken, lets fix it anyway. On 3 stars the cpu defend so well its unbelievable. On 2 stars they are utter tripe. Figure that out. I think I scored about 3 goals on 3 stars in about 35 matches. Two of those were own goals by the way.
Anyway back to pes4 for me.

I agree with Relica, PES 5 isn't totally shit, but people do have the right to complain. My biggest complaint is your teammates AI- they don't utilize the space made by passing the ball around, and they make really stupid runs that leaves them 15m offside!

I play on 6* and rarely loose to the AI. Am I amazing? Hell no, I get beaten by my friends all the time! The thing that everyone seems to forget is that the AI doesn't play good football.

I'm also confused by all this talk about the AI "cheating". There are plenty of lame fouls given (both ways mind), but i've never experienced this so called cheating.

Wow guys. A lot of you sound like you played this game for a day and decided you hated it.

This is the FIRST WE/PES game I've ever owned.

I started on three stars, got cremated for about a week, and then started winning.

Two games ago, I won 10-0 on 5* (Master League). It was my biggest win ever, but wins of 5-2 aren't out of the ordinary for me.

I think many of you need to figure out that it's not an easy game to just walk over the computer. It's not going to hand you victories and I'm sure that frustrates a lot of you.

In addition, so you get crappy calls... so WHAT!? It happens IN REAL LIFE as well. I've had bad calls cost me matches before. Guess what? It's a game. There's nothing wrong with recommending a change, but getting SOOO pissed off over a bunch of pixels.... come on now. Maybe you should go back to the tutorials and work on your game rather than complaining about how unfair it is. The AI is very beatable, trust me.

I think this is a great game because there are so many flaws and I still love playing it. With a little tweaking this series could become my wifes worst nightmare ..sadly i'm hearing things about pes6 that I don't like.

Sorry to exhume this corpse of a thread, but having remembered some nice matches I had with PES6, and going back to PES5 and having this exact problem, I wanted to figure out what other players thought of it. I'm surprised to find it's not just me who thinks the AI is simply infuriating, the only low point of an otherwise spectacular game.

Just this week I had my heart nearly going out the mouth when, playing with Brazil, I managed to hold Mexico to a 0-0 draw and take the match to penalties. I suck at saving penalties, so the less I try to take the match there, the better. I was lucky to win because the AI does make some stupid misses, but that's the only time when the AI seems to dumb down on me; the match ending with 61% possession for the CPU. And now I'm having trouble beating Paraguay. Paraguay! Can you believe it? Friggin' Paraguay!!! Regardless of how good its defenders are, with Ronaldinho and Ronaldo up front I shouldn't have a problem, right? WRONG. They anticipate my every dribble, I can't outrun them but they can easily outrun me, they're always in position to cut my through passes (and I do look at the radar to find someone in position), they keep escaping my markers, they pass the ball with millimetrical position, they dribble every which way right in front of me and I can't steal the ball no matter how close I get... The works. And to make matters worse, every slight contact I make is reason for the referee to whistle for foul, or give advantage to force me to keep still for a second - and in a game this fast, one second can make all the difference in the world.

I still play this game simply because it's, like I said, spectacular (and it's the best and last chance I have to play the Bundesliga on PES), but when its single flaw sticks out like a sore thumb, that's hardly forgivable. Like it's been said before, not every match needs to be a hard-fought 1-0 or a 0-0 with defenses dominating, 'cause that only makes football boring. And the gap between 2* and 3* is so wide, it could well be a crevice leading into an abyss, which makes the learning curve extremely punishing. Theoretically an average gamer should only start having trouble with 4*, but that's not the case here.

Too bad this game's already 12 seasons old, else I could have my voice join the others. But I'm thankful Konami took care to remedy this with PES6 (even though I still don't forgive them for pulling out the German League).
