Zanetti and Cambiasso are back in the squad, and i hear Batista is planning to call Riquelme up again once he's injury free. Amateur must be wetting himself at the prospect.
Tomorrow's friendly against Spain should be nice.

Hopefully Riquelme is called up again. I argued with Amateur about his importance in the past, but Amateur was right and I was wrong.
Plus, Argentina lack a real star. ![]() |

That disallowed goal was amazing. I don't want to say it was Maradona-esque, but damned if it wasn't. Shame he wasn't up against an English defense

I heard that Pique casually did a rainbow flick somewhere in the game to clear the ball from danger, over Aguero's head, I would have loved to have seen that.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina -- An Argentine goalkeeper saved five penalties and converted a spot kick himself in a match in the Copa Argentina.
Goalkeeper Marcos Fascanella stopped four penalties for Excurionistas in a penalty shootout on Tuesday against fellow fourth-division club Argentino de Merlo. He also saved one during the match, which ended 1-1 before the shootout. Excurionistas won the shootout 2-1 with Fascanella also converting one of the two penalties. He called his performance "the best match of my life." The Copa Argentina is new this season and is similar to Spain's Copa del Rey and England's FA Cup. |

It is done. Messi is the top scorer in Argentina's history.
Link to that filthy freekick that gave him to record. ![]()

If Argentina don't win it this year, they need to give up.

A ridiculous goal. What a way to do it!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36597396 EDIT: Looking at it again (via Reb's link), that's some crazy dip he put on the ball.

Not necessarily because of the loss itself.
From what I've read so far, this is what I think is happening: - AFA doesn't have a president. Like a true argentinian corporation it is 50% corruption, 40% bribes and 10% actual work. After the death of Julio Grondona in 2014 (AFA's president since 1979), an anti-semitic, greedy, bribe-taking cunt, they have faced huge problems of all sorts. Long story short, the players have had more than enough, but the fans clearly aren't as devoted (or rational) as Croacia's, so they won't do much to change the current situation. This said, the players are not happy. Source. - Maradona has given quite a few interviews over they years. He often speaks what he thinks, going against the corrupted power. Should be applauded. But then he said this: Quote:
- Then the final happened. Higuain misses yet another sitter, but the fault, at the fans' eyes, is always Messi's. The man who came from the bench to score 3 goals, plays and allows others to play... He was by far the best argentinian player. He skied that penalty, you could see just how broken he was (link), and the reaction of their own fans was as expected: they attacked him. For not doing enough. For not being good enough. They attacked the entire team, but the focus was always Messi. Understandably, he had enough. Three lost finals in three years is though, but putting up all that hate from his own country... I like to think he'll change his mind. Decisions made right after a big occasions rarely go well. But Aguero, Mascherano and supposedly a few other in the coming hours/days following his steps... this might be the real deal. The end of an era, at least for Argentina. Not that I give a fuck. ![]()
