Ireland, Andy Reid would make a massive difference.

Nolan would be decent. Apparently he's eligible for Holland too. Bet you'd love him in there, eh Barry?

Nolan is again another player who we, or at least I, would love to have in the team but I believe he has said he doesn't want to play for us. He sees himself as English and unlike others only wants to play for England. Maybe Kilbane and a few others should try entice him?

Crunch time tonight against France, we need to be at our best and hope that the French team dont get it together and play.

Team News:

Quote:
Trapattoni has few selection dilemmas ahead of the game.

Shay Given will start in goal, whilst John O'Shea is fit and will start at right-back with Kevin Kilbane on the left.

Sean St Ledger and Richard Dunne will line up in central defence.

Aidan McGeady and Damien Duff will fill the wide berths, and Stoke's Glenn Whelan should start with Keith Andrews in central midfield.

Captain Robbie Keane will lead the line alongside Kevin Doyle.

Under-fire French coach Raymond Domenech earlier stoked up the tensions ahead of the game by describing Ireland as 'England B'.

But he insists he does respect them, saying: "We know their qualities.

"They are, first of all, a team that has some very good individuals playing in great sides. On top of that there is a spirit that makes them even tougher opponents. We remember playing them in previous World Cup qualifiers. In those games, there was as much atmosphere on the pitch as outside."

Domenech is playing his cards close to his chest in regards his team selection.

Reports suggest that Lyon ace Jeremy Toulalan has a thigh problem and he may not be risked in Dublin, and could be saved for the second leg.

If Toulalan does not play then Bordeaux's Alou Diarra wil come in alongside Lassina Diarra to form a two-man anchor in midfield.

Donemech is likely to deploy a two-man holding role with a trio of Thierry Henry, Yoann Gourcuff and Nicolas Anelka supporting lone front-man Andre-Pierre Gignac.

Anelka looks likely to play on the right in an attacking support role, a position which would have been taken by the injured Franck Ribery.

The French defence is a little bit more stable with Lyon keeper Hugo Lloris behind an impressive looking back four of Bacary Sagna, William Gallas, Eric Abidal and Patrice Evra.
On paper we dont stand a chance but we went through our qualifying group unbeaten and have shown alot of character. I believe we can do it.

I'd settle for a 0-0 tonight and try nick a 1-0 or 1-1 in France..having said that I really don't care how we do it, if we win

I wanted to see Ireland in the World Cup before the draw was made, but I can't cheer them on over the French. But I will wish them good luck. I'm looking forward to seeing how this pans out over the two legs.

Gutted.

We should be in the draw for S.A 2010. We had at least three chances to kill the game off tonight, but didn't take them.

What Thierry did was disgusting but understandable in that situation. If Keane had have done the same thing at the other end and we were through I'd be elated.

A lucky deflected goal in the first leg and a blatent hand ball (he almost caught the fucking thing) for the goal tonight, makes defeat so much harder to take. I'd rather have been spanked six nil.

Playing the better football isnt enough anymore, its blatent luck, cheating and spastic officials that decide games. Since this craic about respect for the refs came in, they seem to have gotten worse.

Robbie Keane, Damien Duff and Liam Lawrence had the chances to settle that game, it wasnt just Henrys gaelic that put us out. I cant believe Anelka's dive either but again, Henry's cheating was in effect with his pathetic tumble.

To quote Father Jack theres only one way to describe them 'Complete shower of bastards.'

MARSEILLE, France — Former French international Eric Cantona launched a stinging attack on national coach Raymond Domenech on Friday following France's controversial qualification for the 2010 World Cup.

"I think that Raymond Domenech is the worst coach in French football since Louis XVI," Cantona told reporters at a press conference ahead of a beach soccer tournament due to take place here from November 27-28.

French king Louis XVI was executed by French revolutionaries in 1793 and is commonly depicted as an indecisive, dithering monarch.

"If it was up to me, I'd put (Bordeaux coach) Laurent Blanc in charge of the France team," the former Manchester United hero continued.

"He continues the season with Bordeaux, he wins the league with Bordeaux and he wins the World Cup! I'm not the only one who thinks that..."

Cantona, who today is an actor and coach of France's beach soccer team, also criticised the attitude of Thierry Henry, whose handball set up France's winning goal in their 2-1 aggregate play-off victory over the Republic of Ireland.

"What shocked me most wasn't the handball, honestly," said Cantona.

"What shocked me most was that at the end of the match, in front of the television cameras, this player (Henry) went and sat down next to an Irish player to console him, even though he'd screwed them three minutes earlier.

"If I'd been Irish, he wouldn't have lasted three seconds."
