Dreaming, at least for now, remains free.

And obviously that goal would be scored by... Zlatan, who joins the new superpower in european football. Finally an english club worthy of His highness.

Despite being the laughing stock of Portuguese football, I wish Éderzito all the best. He's not nearly as bad as everyone makes him out to be, specially our thick pundits who firmly believe that any player outside Porto, Benfica or Sporting is automatically shit.

Come on Ederbayor

I've only seen glimpses of him so can't judge fully, but he looks like a complete handful for defences. He's a good height and definitely a good option to bring on from the bench. I'd actually like to see him start more games as I'm not the biggest Gomis fan but it's hard to drop someone who's in such great form.

@Sweey I suppose you might know something about the man. What was Udinese like in the last 4 years? Style of play, overall form, and was Alexis really Francesco's work as I'm told?

Guidolin

A brilliant tactician during his time at Udinese where he came into his own. He was indeed central in the development of Sanchez during that time and did wonders with a changing team given that Udinese are a selling club.

Even with Sanchez and Di Natale, it takes a lot to go from 15th in the league (before he took over) to fourth, third and fifth in the following three seasons. They were 13th in his final season in charge but he'd only stayed as a favour to Pozzo - he was tired the previous summer and had made it very clear but was asked to continue.

His earlier career is more patchy but such is the way with Italian coaches - look at what Napoli are doing under Maurizio Sarri and then look at his history. Guidolin was even considered a contender for the Milan job a couple of weeks ago if Mihajlovic were to be sacked, albeit before Lippi's name became central to events there.

It is tough to know exactly how he'll do but he's very capable and has long admired the Premier League. I wish him nothing but success, he seems a nice person.

Good to hear. I've read on reddit that he prefers counter attacking football, is this true? Because if it is, it'll be a drastic change from what we are used to.

I remember the excellent places Udinese achieved and their manager being asked to stay one more year, but I had no idea they ended up in 13th place. If his mind was somewhere else that's not exactly a surprise.

That's always a good sign, means he is interested for more than just the money. Next Sunday we'll have the first impressions.

He does like counter-attacking football before but that's surely also down to the players he's had available. The pace of Di Natale and Sanchez made them lethal on the break and Udinese had a series of other players who were both powerful and quick or great at long passes to assist with that.

I don't think he'd be blind to other strategies if the players were incapable of executing his plan or he felt another approach suited them but he's probably that much more comfortable with a counter-attacking philosophy.

On this day, in 2011, Leon Britton re-joined swansea from Sheffield United for a staggering £35,000. While I don't follow Swansea since those days, internet can be quite helpful.

Using Soccerway statistics, Britton cost us (in Premier League + Championship, since 2010/2011, and excluding this season, so the numbers only get better)...

- £285 per appearance
- £3.73 per minute
- £335 per 90 minutes
- £17,500 per goal
- £35,000 per assist
- £3182 per yellow card

Comparing this to, let's say, Obi Mikel (in the same time span, and I'll be using the lowest fee I could find, £14m):

- £122,807 per appearance
- £2021 per minute
- £181,949 per 90 minutes
- £14,000,000 per goal
- £3,500,000 per assist
- £1,000,000 per yellow card

Watched almost the entire thing vs Everton. Not pretty (just like Porto), but the defensive coesion and mutual aid between the players was incredible. Really incredible. Only Deulofeu managed to break us from time to time (beautiful crosses that spaniard hits...). Ashley Williams marked Lukaku better than his own shadow. Sigurdsson pressured and played the false 9 role, as well as Ayew to great effect in the 1st half.

I can only see this getting better. Guidolin already changed to defence dramatically, attack won't take much longer. All we need is a striker.

@Sweey Supposedly we agreed with Chievo (€10.4m) for Paloschi (link). Thoughts?
