Cricket
Couldn't see one of these kicking about so I feel it's about time I created a one, things aren't going to plan so far in the second test against the South Africans, although I must admit it's good to watch Freddie bowling as we have certainly missed him.
I also think it's time for a Harmison recall, as whenever I've watched Durham play this season he seems to have sorted himself out and is almost like the bowler we once knew. Although his mental strength is always going to come into question. Barry I created this thread just for you btw. ![]() |

I wanted to see this side for the second test,
Strauss Cook Vaughan Pietersen Bell Ambrose Flintoff Broad Hoggard Jones Panesar I don't see the point of this Pattinson guy as he's like 29 with very little experience. Him and Anderson aren't the sort of bowlers who will be able to help win the Ashes back. |

I'd like to see them give Harmison a chance but when all the current fast bowlers are fit, they should play. Thats Sidebottom, Broad, Anderson and Flintoff. I just think Flintoff offers more than Collingwood, whos shit. Also in the ODI side, they should give the Essex man Napier a go, he looks handy. |

Lovely thread. We definitely needed one of these.
Naiper seems on fire at the moment. He's handy with the bat and ball, a certain for the twenty20 side i would think. Him and Mascharenas Would do wonders for England on the ODI and twenty20 scene. Personally, i would like to see Adil Rashid give a bowl for England in the Next test. He maybe wayward at times but he seems the business when it comes to leg spin. He looks like a Shane Warne in the making and the Leg spinner England have been looking for. As for Simon Jones, i think its a bit too early for his re call, give him a few more months in the Domestic ranks and see how he does, he has had a long injury and it will take time for him to get back to how he was in the Ashes. Once again, lovely thread. ![]() |

Agree about Graham Napier, I think he could add something to the set up.

![]() Essex are the dog's bollocks of ODI sides. We're in the FP Trophy final, the 20/20 semi's and have got off to a winning start in the Pro 40 league. Oh yes. Napier is class, so too is Foster. Him and Read are the best wicket keepers in the country and it's time for one of them to play for England again. We simply don't have any wicket-keeper batsmen, so just player the best wicket-keeper! Although having said all that a large reason for our success is Danish Kaneria. What a bowler.

I've read it somewhere that Danish Kaneria is hoping to gain citizenship to play for England, is this actually possible?
Would be good having another top spinner to partner Monty. |

i think the next ashes will be a thriller...as we have lost a lot of great bowlers/batters recently, the lack of depth and age i think have finally caught up.

One thing that really annoys me now about the way the game has turned out is the decline of fast bowling, 15 years ago look at how many brilliant fast bowlers were still around.

Ambrose, Walsh, McGrath, Waqar, Wasim all just seem to roll off the tongue, there's nobody currently anywhere near the level of those. |

Sharma is a gem, his duel with ponting earlier in the year was awesome cricket. Brett Lee IMO.
