Really, he is.

I honestly hope he performs well, and believe he will. I was never the biggest fan of Casillas, in the same way I never disliked him. We'll see what happens.

Didn't that idiot Bruno Alves used to take free kicks for Porto? Or was he more power based and precision?

He did. He had a lot of power, and decent precision. He was a true danger in offensive set pieces, both as the taker as the end receiver!

There was one a few months ago that got some attention...

And don't call him an idiot, or he'll murder your family and friends!

Dear God we are so bad... I won't even comment anything more insightful, it's useless. When a team has EIGHTFUCKINGTEEN corners and only one ended in a "real" goal threat there really isn't much to say.

Lopetegui is said to have been sacked (by spanish media). Praying for it to be true.

Heard that Jose Mourinho is available... Although perhaps a move across the continent may not be ideal for his family if they are settled and happy in England. Who knows?

He's not 100% out yet, they're still discussing the terms of the contract break.

Nah, not a chance (take this with a grain of salt though, JJ joined Sporting from benfica and it was the equivalent of "when pigs fly"). Leonardo Jardim, AVB or Marco Silva (the money for this one though...). Rui Barros (The Atomic Ant) will probably take the job until the season is over, and I'm okay with that.

Porto have been a disgrace over the past two matches. It is bordering on criminal that Sporting have a four-point lead.

In real news, Boavista look doomed to me already.

Make that two months. Since the defeat vs Chelsea (or even before) that we don't play shit. There was no training, the players looked lost and just 11 men running after a ball: no team. André André stared at the bench, shrugging his shoulders asking ""here do you want me to play? Tell me something!". Then, next match, he goes off to the stand. Imbula, Bueno, the same. No coherence whatsoever.

Then the mentality (not even getting to form). If we score a goal, the game ends at that moment. They would stop attacking (which was already poor) and maintain defensive possession. Complete lack of commitment when defending (off the ball pressure) in the more-than-expected scenario of conceeding after scoring. They won't attack, nor defend. Wanderers, roaming around aimlessly.

We can only get better.

While you're not a bad coach, you're definitely a bad manager. Wish you luck for your next adventure, but please, for all that's sacred, don't ever come back. You left us with Neves, gave us Oliver for a full season, and shitloads of money, but I can't go through this again.

ˇAdiós!

That's it, I'm done.

http://www.dn.pt/desporto/fc-porto/i...o-4986550.html

For you english folks that don't know him: imagine Moyes, mixed with Hodgson (worst half of each), and thrown in a bit (alright, a lot) of innability to control the dressing room. If this ends well I'll be happy to admit I'm wrong, but the chances that happens are slim to none.

Edit: I've probably been a bit too drastic with this. It was the initial shock.

This said, a more moderate analysis. He was quite good with Sporting, but had the same huge problem Lopetegui had: always fails in the decisive moments (got the nickname "pé frio", meaning somebody without luck and/or balls). He can build a very pleasant team (entertainment wise), definitely has quality, but it's not what he need. We must win something this season, and if the titles comes up to the last few games/derby he just isn't the man for the job. I hope I'm wrong, but he never showed any signs of having changed since 04/05 with Sporting. And in that same season he wasn't able to turn the situation around when it started declining. Also, his teams ususally are complete shit when defending, and while I really like a tight defence, we always had one as well, so this might be a risk (even more because our current squad is already rubbish).

On the other hand, he's portuguese and nows the league, so he won't have the full year of adaptation Lopetegui had. He's a manager to gear in immediately, so as far as that goes he's a good choice. But the downsides are too many to make this a valid "excuse". We'll see what happens
