It's doable but unlikely. I imagine we won't get past Monaco though so we'll be able to focus on the league and of course the FA Cup. I want us to retain the FA Cup at all costs this season, for me it's a higher priority than trying to win the league right now. That being said we've got an alright run in to the end of season, with a fresh Walcott/Sanchez/Ozil etc we can really push on. But of course take it one game at a time.

One game at a time is all we can do, don't forget Ramsey is also fresh out, if that lad taps back into the same zone as he did at the end of last season who knows what we could win.

It's really very easy to forget that he was arguably the best player in the league.

Monaco knocked out Real Madrid in that UCL, guess the madridistas thought they had had a favourable draw too (it was the Galaticos team)

No, Benfica has two as well, 1961 and 1962. In the 1962 final they won 5-3 against Real, in a mythical match. When the game ended Eusebio gave such importance to the fact of having Di Stefano's shirt, that in fear of someone robbing it he hid it in his underwear He didn't care about the title, all he wanted was his idol's shirt.

And yes, we do love Mourinho. And no, we do not love Mourinho. The FC Porto Mourinho is loved by everyone, he was amazing and won the Champions League with a team built from scratch, with players from the club's youth system or bought for 500k€. He got here and said "I will win the title in two years". And nobody could tell him "no, you wont", because he was so passionate and confident about his and his players' skills. But the nowadays Mourinho is so different that we like "our" Mourinho, not Mourinho as a whole.

While it remains mathematically possible... but c'mon, you can't tell me with a straight face you really believe Arsenal will be champions. Is it possible, they might be champions? Yes, but that isn't an opinion or conviction, that's a fact.

Kudos, you are right on the mourinho thing and by the way was eusebio not in the same bracket of class as di stefano?Glad to hear football was much more humane those days.

Aye mate, I've obviously my Gunner glasses on looking at the table. To the average Joe it's still Chelsea's title all day long.

It's City's title until someone else actually takes it

Porto Mourinho and Mourinho now is the same. They are only two differences;

1 - You are now looking from the outside.

2 - The competition he had in the Portuguese league was no way near the same as he has had in the other countries he has managed, which causes him to become more aggressive with what he says and how he acts.

I don't know about the first point, he didn't do nearly as much "mind games" and attacks to the referees as now, but the second is spot on. Almost nobody here in Portugal understand how we are considered such a big league in UEFA competitions. We have two top of the line clubs, which are way better than the rest, and are between UEL and UCL level. And that's about it. A seventh placed English or Italian club would demolish a fifth placed Portuguese club. No doubts 'bout that.

As for Mourinho domestic titles with FC Porto. Benfica was recovering from a president whom had robbed the club over and over again, so they weren't nowhere near their current form. Indeed those were "easy" years for Porto. But the team Mou had was, theoretically, a big pile of shit with some class players, like Deco, Baía, etc. Maniche was nobody back then, and he turned out an amazing midfielder. Mou could see the potential in those players, and took the chance.

Either way... the work he did with Inter, internally, was much more difficult, but regarding the UCL title I reckon the FC Porto one is a bigger achievement.

I don't think a 7th placed team in England would beat Porto. I think even the likes of City, United and a lot of top teams would struggle. Premier League teams are so tactically inept these days that anyone in Europe has a chance against them. The Premier League gets called the most exciting league in the world, but the reason for this is because there is limited tactics involved, so it's just high paced end to end action. The quality has seriously dipped.

Was reading a Deco interview (well, Q&A) on FourFourTwo's website last week. He really does adore that Porto side. Seems to love it more than the Barca side he played in. Think it's all to do with the mentality that Mourinho instilled into them.

I'll stop now though, as I've gone severely off topic

Getting a bit more on topic: we (portuguese clubs/fans) have a chronic fear of english teams. Porto's main nightmare is precisely... Arsenal. It's psychological more than factual, they way both teams are playing Porto might have a 50/50 chance of winning a two hand knockout stage. But if you consider the "size", history etc of Arsenal, despite Porto's might even being better, we can't help but cringe at your sight.

Regarding Arsenal, the only way for them to reach a Man City or Chelsea level and maintain it is to spend tons of money, both on players and on medical staff. But even more important than spending big money is spending it where it must, and how it must. Has Gabriel played a game yet? Ospina? (He's playing okay, but c'mon...) How about the fucking midfield?! I can't remember a season when Arsenal wasn't short on midfielders. And as always, who's to blame?

In summary: when the league starts every team has the same chances to win it. Why do we rule out some of those teams right at the start? Because either they are lacking the quality, or they can't withstand the entire season. The "mathematically possible" doesn't matter, Arsenal will not win the league until they change.

You should have said this 9 years back and you could have said this till 2 years back,we are almost there now unless we get knocked out by monaco and i have to eat humble pie,we will definitely challenge till the very end and be runners up or champions next season.

I know I've been getting a little carried away about Arsenal lately but by Jesus a few bad results and we could still finish 5th!!!

Going by form City look like they're in the mix now for CL places let alone winning the league.
