I might do a brief review of my top 5 (and honourable mentions, perhaps) for each category when I reach the 50 mark. Then maybe again at the end of the year - I'm gonna keep adding to lists when I'm past 50.

Trimester Update

Books: 5

Damn, I blitzed the first four in the opening weeks then reading died a death for me, very disappointed in myself. Wool was definitely my favourite of the books read so far, and there are two parts left that I haven't touched

Movies: 37

A good mix of shit watched in my opinion. Glad to have finally started The Lone Wolf and Cub series. Half way through and need to work on getting the rest sorted. The Naruto Shippuden movies were decent and lead to me diving headfirst back in to the anime, I haven't included it in my TV list as it's too difficult to judge how many seasons i've watched!

Best films during this period:

Kubo and The Two Strings
A Bronx Tale
Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart to Hades
The Devil's Advocate
The Nice Guys

Television: 17

Plenty of anime watched due to my Crunchyroll subscription, it's paid for itself with how much i've saved on not buying physical releases. I really think my days of buying faggot shit may be behind me now! Finally getting to watch Mushi-shi Season 2 made the subscription worthwhile during month 1 alone. One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100, written by the same mangaka were probably the highlights, both extremely unique and funny. Cannot wait for season 2 of the former this year.

Glad to see Bosch back, it really is one of my favourite shows, even if I know deep down it's a little bit shit. The Americans has been fantastic so far. Don't know how long it will hold my attention, but it's great stuff.

Best TV Shows during this period:

Mushi-shi: The Next Passage
One Punch Man
Mob Psycho 100
Bosch Season 3
The Americans Season 1

@Jonno394 I've edited your first post to add shortcut links for @Ali and myself to use so we can quickly edit our lists as our posts are quite far down the first page so take a while to scroll to. I don't know if it bothers him but as I'm incrementally updating mine, it just makes things a lot more convenient for me as I'm repeatedly having to scroll a lot without the link.

@rebelinho gives the Prison Break revival an 8.5 score, @Sweey has referred to it as the shittest thing he's seen in a long time.....

It was diabolical. Utterly atrocious cardboard acting that didn't convince at all, an awful plot, obvious twists and turns, no realism, lots of scum, Sucre barely in the entire thing and no need for T-Bag to have been in it at all (but glad he was). I could go on but it doesn't deserve it. I didn't expect much of anything from it and yet it still managed to find new depths of drivel.

I've never seen the original series, so there's that. For me it was a mini series that wasn't actually that bad in the beginning, but improved as things got clearer.

Now that I look at it I gave it the same score as White Collar (it was past 1am when I updated the post). I definitely enjoyed White Collar more. Changed to a 8.0/10. Less than that? Not a chance.

It was the only tv show broadcasted by portuguese FOX that isn't CSI (episodes from a million years ago), the new and very shitty MacGyver, the kinda ok Scorpion (repeated episodes as well) or NCIS LA (also episodes from a million years ago). They also used to have Hawaii 5-0, but not anymore for some reason.

So yeah, it was either this or watching stuff for the 10th time.

Most relevant

Incendies 8.5/10.0

What a ride. Great story, marvelously told, pretty good acting. The french doesn't distract from the relevant parts. Villeneuve is shaping up as a worthy director after the equally impressive Sicario and the good-but-underwhelming Prisoners. I'll definitely check the rest of his work.

Catwoman 2.0/10.0

Seriously impressive how they managed to a) spend 100 million in this pile of shit and b) not be capable to do anything better with that much money. Describing this "thing" in a word: tits. Worth a watch just for them, though? Honestly, if you're hungover., you could do worse.

Full Metal Jacket 8.0/10.0

DANGER! VERY UNPOPULAR OPINIONS IN THE FOLLOWING TEXT. Tread carefully.

100%, definitely, undoubtedly better than Apocalypse Now. At least it makes sense. A film of two halves which, incidentally, are made of lots of little parts. The first half is the best. The second is a mashup of short films that works alright. Jarhead took a lot of inspiration from FMJ, and I just like Jarhead more. Probably just because of Gyllenhaal's fantastic abilities. Or maybe because I prefer films that focus on individuals inside groups rather than groups of individuals. Anyway, better than Apocalypse Now.

Yes, Minister 9.0/10.0

Some of the best dialogue ever written, surely. Performances are outstanding, and fully compensate for the lack of scenery changes. Episodes like Big Brother should be mandatory viewing for everybody. Impressive how the issues and jokes made 30 years ago can still be applied today. Looking forward for season 3 and the follow-up show.
