Sup Phillips? Good to see you on the boards with some solid points.
Konami recoups their expenses and make a small profit every year from PES ..with very little addition to the base of the game (outside of graphics). With this in mind, they remain profitable from PES although the budget does not compare to EAs. Why change that now?

I have been a supporter of PES for decades. I joined this wonderful site in 2004 that shows remarkable support for the franchise. I have seem the downward spiral of PES. I have seen the rise of Fifa of which I am now a stalwart supporter. Most PES fans are missing some crucial reasons why Fifa dominates PES every single year without fail.

Licenses? Nope! Although it helps not having to purchase a game and then hunt for Option files all over the damn internet...its the Squad updates on day 1. It is the continuous support from EA from day 1. Even if the patches are not favorable to some, they try to fix shit.

Gameplay? PES has prehistoric gameplay! The reason I left PES was because they have failed miserable to implement 360 movement in PES. The ancient game engine (Foxshit) has not been upgraded in over a decade. That engine was built for MSG not for PES.

ONLINE? YES. THE MAIN REASON FIFA DOMINATES PES IS BASICALLY ONLINE. Online is near to non-existence for most who play PES. Flawless in Fifa. Coupled with improvement in the collision system, upgrade in passing and shooting mechanics, butter smooth technical gameplay (makes PES gameplay look like minecraft) and a ton load of game modes both offline and online.

These are the basic reasons. PES is only playable offline with a very simple gameplay that most of its fans live and die by. Lob the ball into the box from wing attacks/lofted through balls/ and your chances of scoring increases 75%. No one even plays the ball back. Not so in Fifa.

Is PES dying? Its been dead!

Sup Zidane?
My PSN Id is bitwarmonger.

The 360 degree player movement allows the player to move in a full circle on the pitch without issues. This is evident in Fifa on how fluid the animation is. PES players can only move in 16 directions. Therefore I end up with extremely sharp turns and weird animations. Todate PES can be played using the Dpad.

I am quite surprised that no one else notices this.

PES high res video. Look at the turns and animations in collisions.

Fifa compare the difference in smooth transitions 360 movements.

PES might have ''pre historic'' gameplay in that aspect but it isn't entirely bad. Btw, dinosaurs are also pre historic and many people think they are cool, so, ancient doesn't necessarily mean bad

I live in Canada and Pro Evolution Soccer here isn't popular at all. I bought PES 2017 at EB games at a city mall (Mississauga) and they only had 3 copies of the game on the release date. The following year for PES 2018 they only had one copy at the same Eb games. The demand and supply for PES is so low that literally my Eb games just gets it for me.

the fanbase for PES here is almost nonexistent. People here are all about the EA FIFA even if they don't follow the sport.

What can Konami do to overtake EA's FIFA? nothing, they can't!
Although they can start by:
*Adding a fake league that mirrors MLS
*Reintroduce Canada's National football team (Last appearance PES 2013) and more North American national teams.
*Commercials of PES on TV (They could have done this during Champions League and Europa League when konami had the license.)

You know man i looked to the new kits and stuff now with the data pack and they all just look great! I'm a fan of Germany and i'm so glad with their new kits that i played a world cup russia tournament and i enjoyed it so much!! On superstar level. I got knocked at the quarter final by Uruguay.

It was a few days ago i played pes and everytime i play it i think how such a beautiful game it is!! I don't give a sh*t about "pre-historic" animations or whatever and better.. if ockrass didn't told me i would never saw it and still now he told i still can't see the difference between fifa animations and pes ones! So.. .

PES is a beatiful game just like fifa! If i play fifa a few days i have enough of it and don't want to play it for while so it's nice to be able to switch to PES!!!

I LOVE PES!!😁

It's normal that the canadians prefer fifa! They support there homebase company right? EA is in Canada? In contrary to konami.. all the Japs will play more PES then fifa.

Almost asians play PES because of PlayStation appear before Xbox along time from PS1 to PS4 & PES vs PS're couple against FIFA vs Xbox, that easy to understand because PES & PS "made in Japan" and very easy to marketing in Asia region. I remember when PS3 used in my country a little console game center still have Xbox 360 also Fifa disc to play. When I asked boss: "In the shop has Xbox? I want to play FIFA" i receive the answer " What's Xbox? Only football game's PES & not FIFA" lol. So at this time it isn't change, in some "Game Center" i still see 2-3 Xbox console but nobody use or very very small player, in PS4 console only a few player play FIFA. When I ask players why not play FIFA i usually got result: " FIFA very hard to control, to score, to tackle when defend etc..". Gamers like PES or FIFA depend on region they live: Asians, South America, Russia & some Europe country like Germany like playing PES also with FIFA i see in US, Canada, UK.

P/S: IMO i don't care about license if not make game better, improve gameplay that's important and right :" Listen fan all over the world say" through some community website look like evo-web, reddit ... but it's so very hard!

I don't think Canadians know that EA's FIFA is done by Canadians. I have a friend who's about basketball but plays FIFA because ultimate team is addicting and can't be compared. Another plays NHL but doesn't play ultimate team because it's not as good as FIFA's ultimate team. Soccer is popular in Canada because of the 3 Canadian teams in MLS, woman national team is good at soccer, a lot european immigrant like Croatians (they love soccer), Champions league is shown at bars, and it's still growing.

This is the main reason I like Fifa.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/r...140000819.html

"As the domestic football season starts to wrap up, all eyes are turning to the World Cup in Russia. EA, unsurprisingly, wants to celebrate the competition with a video game tie-in — this year, however, it will be released as a free update for FIFA 18.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia expansion will include all 32 teams that have qualified for the competition. That includes their players (most of these already exist as part of FIFA 18, however), national kits and badges. EA will also be adding 12 official stadiums from Russia, the new match ball, the World Cup trophy, and some extra "cinematic scenes" that will no doubt be coupled with fresh graphics and commentary. It's unclear if there will be any kind of offline campaign, however — the publisher has merely confirmed online friendlies and tournaments, as well as custom tournaments for nations that didn't make it to Russia (hello, the USA...)
The update will be released on May 29th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. A limited time World Cup Mode will also be released for the smartphone-friendly FIFA Mobile app on June 6th."

So instead of making a proper world cup game (like 2010 and 2014) EA is doing this pathetic dlc. That's supposed to be a good thing?! All the football fans around the world waited for four years for a world cup game. That's the only chance most people have to use their country in a football sim and EA just wipes its ass with their expectations. This way they can get people who are desperate for at least something world cup-related to buy their FUT 18 game along with the "free" dlc. So they still score profits without actually making a game. Sсum.

I surprised to read that you do not like the DL.

You would prefer they make a whole new game and sell it to fans like in 2014?

I will take the DL.....its free.

peace

I think it's only free if you have FIFA 18. But regardless, look at the 2014 world cup game - all the nations, all the qualifiers, scenario modes for qualifiers and the world cup (updated after each game day during the tournament), captain your country, online modes, tons of kits (qualifying, world cup/would be world cup, classic for some - every licenced team had at least four kits, balls from the previous world cups, other cool surprises to unlock). Most importantly, even if some small countries weren't licenced they still had all the players licenced. Imagine how amazing it is for someone from Malaysia for example to use their team with all the right players in the World Cup game. I for one loved playing qualifiers with teams I never could even see on tv. So may people were waiting to finally have a game like this on ps4 and we get that bootleg dlc instead. I am severely disappointed. What the people here wrote sums it up well: https://fifaforums.easports.com/en/d...or-fifa-18/p82

I had purchased previous world cup released games by EA and they were not worth the money. I personally believe that since the game already consists of all the teams ...a DL would be ideal.

I get that a lot of fans have the money to buy an interim game, but as a poor person, the DL works for me.

Maybe EA should make a full game for WC and release it $59.99 for those who are passionate about a separate game. For fans like myself who cannot afford it because of food and accommodation constraints ... No tengo dinero mi amigo!

For me its the same god darn thing so no need to buy it twice.

I prefer a whole new game too! Goddamned how long do we have to wait for a word cup game and then we should be satisfied with a silly update?? I really hope it's not like what PES 2016 did with a "update" of the EURO cup!! A shitty my *ss intro of 3 seconds of the euro cup and that's it!!???

A world cup/euro cup game always meant alot to me!! It's always special! Complete new theme/menus, different contrast, new official kits, the music, stadiums, even the scoreboard etc etc.. !! A total feeling of the world cup!!!!

It's not the same to have just the teams and to "imagine" that you play a world cup game!!!
