Who is the best player in the history, Pele or Maradona?

I think that Pele is the best player, because he was 3 times world champion with Brazil, and scores 1200 goals.

Well thats stupid. Just because he wasn't a saint doesn't mean that he was a bad player on the field. I would say Maradona is better by far. He was a midfilder and Argentina owe him a lot for their 86 title and 90 runner up spot.

depends on where u want to put him.

Ex. both del piero and nesta are extremely good players, but u don't want to put del piero in defense or vice-versa.

pele was a sniper, he could sniff a goal from 5mins before, he was the model stricker

maradona litterally possesed the ball, he made the ball look like a doll with which u could do everything u wanted.

but maradona always looked like the incarnation of football

I think that one issue you have to look at here is Maradonna's drug problems. Although many argue he was a football god, you must take into account that maybe the drugs he took made a significant difference to his game. It could have hindered or helped him. So to be fair, I would say Pele was better, he didn't need anything to make him a better player. He did it the right way...without help from recreational drugs.
