NTSC TV & PS2 + PAL PES = A-OK?

Hi everyone,

I live in the USA and I'm desperate to get my hands on Pro Evo 4. I really don't want to wait until March and I don't want to buy the Japanese version. I was curious as to if it was possible to play a U.K. copy of PES 4 on my NTSC PS2 and NTSC Television. I don't have a ton of money to spend, so I cannot buy a PAL PS2 or PAL Television. Your help on this is greatly appreciated!

you would need a chip to be able to play the inport of the pal game. as for your tv just use a third party scart lead and that should allow the game to play on your tv

I think (and this is from the info i got on here myself) swap magic will play the disc and IF you have s-video or componenet cables the image will play fine. I have Swap magic with the slide card and i'm hoping what i've been told is true as well. good Luck it's a great game this year just great.

Americans do not have SCART as it is pure European standard.

To the thread owner, you need to modify your console either with the mod-chip or using swap magic disks with slidecard (or similar) to be able to play PAL games on your Tele. Slide card is cheaper solution, costs around $40 USD. You can order it from www.mod-chip.com or find it yourself on google/ebay or whatever.

You also might have to buy ntsc/pal converter if you do not use s-video or component video cables. In the other words, if you are using regular yellow, white and red cables (composite cables), then you need a converter.

The best thing is chipping your PS2, but that is both costly and risky depending who is doing it for you.

The way I found a way around this problem, I sold my original PS2, old games etc... and bought brand new pre-modified PS2...

Cheers.

I'm in Ohio and i have a fliptop on my ps2 (30 bucks) and the swap magic disc and i use the red white and yellow wires and it works pes3 works perfectly. When pes3 is booting up it asks me what i want to play it on (50, 60 ntsc) i just select 60 ntsc and it works perfectly. I've tried it on maybe 6 tvs and it works on all of them.

i think fliptop is the best option cuz once its installed, u dont have to worry about damaging ur ps2 everytime u wanna play.i got my swap magic and fliptop in a bundle for 40 bucks

hope that helps

I have an older TV and it has the screw-in type plug in the back instead of the 3 colored RGB input, will it still work?

I'm sorry dude, I'm not too knowledgable about that kinda stuff. Hopefully someone else will answer this question for you. If not try asking at stores like circuit city, best buy, radio shack or just any of those type of stores... lol some of those guys who work there are smart as hell.
