Barton Burn Victim Scarred For Life

From Football365

Quote:
The Manchester City reserve 'keeper burned in the eye by the lit cigar of midfielder Joey Barton is likely to be permanently scarred.

Barton has been fined a maximum six weeks' wages of £142,000 after his cigar burned the eyelid of 18-year-old Jamie Tandy.

He has been treated at Manchester Eye Hospital and was still suffering from blurred vision 48 hours after the incident.

Tandy's vision will return but his eyelids are expected to be permanently scarred by the attack, which Barton claimed during an internal investigation as an 'accident'.

The England Under-21 midfielder was apparently telling anyone who would listen on Sunday night that he now earns £27,000 a week, and was amusing himself by burning other players' fancy dress outfits.

Tandy then tried to set fire to Barton's t-shirt, which led to the first-teamer burning him in his eye. The two then started a brawl and were eventually dragged apart by other players.

Barton apparently tried to apologise to Tandy on Tuesday morning, but was met by a cool response from the youngster.

An investigation was immediately launched by the club, who will impose the maximum fine but stop short of sacking either of the participants.
Opinions?

It's good to see Citeh havent been lenient with the fine, he's lucky he didn't get sacked.

Such a stupid incident, this could really be detremental to Tandy's career, especially as a keeper.

The Spanish FA were fined £45,000 for racist chanting and Barton is getting fined £142,000? Joey Barton still did a really terrible thing but the Spansih FA have been handed a very lenient fine.

Nice phrase/pisstake, Jam. What Barton done was sad and stupid, but atleast it hasn't effected the keepers vision permanently and he will be able to play footy.

That Tandy is a fool aswell why is he burning other players shirts, but i suppose burning someones eyelid is a too bit far.

These Xmas partys are getting dangerous it seems what with the man utd players getting involved in a brawl and consequently Fletcher getting knocked to the ground.... :p no worries rooney was to the rescue.

Well, Barton was trying to burn his clothing too. It's not like Tandy should say ''Oh your more famous then me, burn my arse cheeks while your at it'', obviously he'll try get his revenge.
