This Game has gone Downhill....Biggie...

I have never rated fifa before but having played it recently this years version is so much better than PES4......

Has any body else noticed that the shooting is stupid...the ball hardly ever goes above knee height, the shots are slow, the players pass like morons, Why do they use the outside of there foot no matter where they are on the pitch no matter if there left footed right footed or both, they should pass side footed an ocasionally outside of the foot........and dont even get me started on the goalies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can anybody actually say the goalies are any good on it?

Having read a few topics i cant believe you say the goalies are decent, they stand there like dummies for most shots. PES3 was sooooo good why did they change too much??

All they needed to do was change the graphics an leave the gameplay as it was, maybe a few teaks but not a complete overhaul of the way they pass.....im finding myself playing PES3 more than this one....what a waste of £30.

This is all imo so i dont want anybody telling me im wrong, if you think im wrong fair enough, but IMO the game is tottaly ruined by the players not doin what players do in real life, they want to make it realistic????? make the players pass like anyone whos ever played football, WITH THE SIDE OF THERE FOOT!!!!

Oh an why does nearly every shot get his curling with the outside of the foot??!?!?!?!??!?

Have Konami changed development teams who dont no what a player passing an shooting looks like??? Sort it out Konami, get the passing an shooting back to normal for PES5 an sort them fucking goalies out!!!!!!!!!

i agree on the goalie thing, but seriously your just too critical of the game the thing tha shit me the most is the cpus winger.....he runs down the wing backheels in the other direction and crosses

hes right about the goalies, and that the players BARELY, not to say NEVER use the outside of the foot and thats one shot that musnt be excluded from the game, hes right, no matter how you shot or from where, the player will surely hit it and the ball will make a curve as its been shot with the inside of the foot, in all other aspects game rocks, and its way better than fifa by hard, pes gameplay is 10 times better than fifa, what fifa had best were the cinematics after a fould, that players got around the ref and etc, the little additions, but now pes4 has them also and it rules.

I disagree on the goalie thing. Me and my mate who has been playing the series for several years, are finding that the goalies are saving alot more of our shots than in the previous games....

I don't know why it is, but when I first started playing PES4 goalies seemed to have a habit of just standing still, but I don't know why it is, maybe the 6th star really does make A LOT of difference, but goalies RARELY stand still, and when they do it look good and realistic. Also I find the fact they make mistakes quite refreshing as it all just adds to the simulation.

As for your other points, passing also gets better as your game improves. My players now rarely pass with the outside of their feet, try controlling the ball more and lining up your passes and they will pass properly... it's all about your positioning. Likewise with shots, I simply can not agree with the knee height thing. I think shooting on PES4 is the best it's been on any of the games in the series. Of course, the better your player, the better the shot, and you can not expect to score 40 yard screemers with Wes Brown everytime, but even those players can hit a good shot when timed correctly.

I think what you should do is certainly give the game more time, I do not know exactly how long you have been playing, but I'd say it always takes me at least 50 to 100 games before I really start to enjoy the new Pro Evolution Soccer's.

I dont agree in the slightest. At first when you play it i can see your point of view that shooting and passing seem to of got worse, but as people have said when you play it more you get used to it and yo can see it is the best game in the series.

Played it since the day it came out, played every single version before hand an absolutley loved them, personally i just think they've tinkered a bit too much on this one. Dont get me wrong its still an amazing game. but its frustrating when im battering a team, an then they go have 1 half hearted shot (on 6 starts by the way) an my goalies stands an looks, the shot isnt even hard or fast, just a pea roller into the corner, im not being funny but he could sit on his arse then roll across an he'd still save it but no....i think ill just take a rest an let the goal in, give the player more to do :P

Totally agree with rfcloyalist, Fifa is just a bad game of soccer, and PES4 just makes it all work so accurately. The goalies can occassionally feel stiff in certain situations on lower levels but that's part of the game. Do you even watch european football?

"calm down, calm down!"
everyone has the right to an opinion...but your opening sentance says that you think that FIFA is 'so much better than PES4'. That automatically invalidates your opinion, because it is such a wrong thing to say!
even then, apart from the exagerated complaints about the keeper, your entire complaint is about the players kicking with the outside of the foot. for a start, it's an animation and as such doesn't make the game play worse....but secondly, it doesn't happen that often for me, the reason being that one of the prime skills needed since the very first PES is to shape up for your shots and stuff to give the player the perfect angle to strike the ball with their favoured foot. if you only play by running in straight lines towards goal then your player will use the outside of their foot, cos it's actually easier 'in real life' if the ball is right in front of you.
And in real life, players use the outside of their foot an awful lot. Look at your man Gerrard. An awful lot of his passes and shots are with the outside of the boot, such as THAT goal in the champions league.

Yeah I cannot agree with the knee high shots thing. I've hit every kind of shot going, and scored some fantasticly varied goals. I mean come on man, you are complaining when the guy is saying you are shit, but then if you been playing long enough, you'd know you can hit good shots of all height and speed. Passing isnt always with the outside of th boot and again it does depend on angles position, situation etc.

The keeper, thing, ok i'll give you that, it annoys me too to see a trickling little roller go in whilst the keeper watches, but it doesnt happen THAT often. I have had some awesome matches recently, against human opponants and online and i can safely say it takes Fifa to the fence and beats the living daylights out of it!

If you want the goalies to move, then press the triangle button. I always press the triangle button whenever the opposition has a shot or is about to take a shot. Goalie will move. Obviously don't keep your finger on it unless you want the goalie running completely out.

The passing is all about timing, just like the shooting. Anyone who's played football knows that you have to position yourself in order to get a good shot on goal. Whether it's natural and you don't know your doing it, or if you know. There's only so much Konami can do on the PS2 and so much what a player using a controller can do, and for what they've done, Konami have done brilliantly.

At first I didn't know whether I liked PES4 for or not, but the more I played, the more I saw just why it regained the title "Greatest Football Game Ever Made".

Pro Evolution Soccer 4 is simply the best version ever made, and it sh1ts all over FIFA.
