PFA Player Of The Year/PFA Young Player Of The Year Nominations

PFA Player Of The Year
  • Petr Cech
  • John Terry
  • Steven Gerrard
  • Frank Lampard
  • Thierry Henry
  • Andrew Johnson

PFA Young Player Of The Year
  • Jermain Defoe
  • Cristiano Ronaldo
  • Shaun Wright-Phillips
  • Stuart Downing
  • Wayne Rooney
  • Arjen Robben

I can't see past the Chelsea trio for the main award, it's almost impossible to choose between them, but I think Lampard will get the nod.

As for the young player, I think it's between Rooney, Defoe and Wright-Phillips, if Robben wasn't injured for a large proportion of the season I think he would win it hands down, he was unstoppable before his injury. As it is, Rooney will most probably win.

So, in my opinion:

PFA Player Of The Year - Frank Lampard
PFA Young Player Of The Year - Wayne Rooney

I'm upset Cesc Fabregas didn't make the young players list, his easily been our star midfielder, and an absolute revelation. Ronaldo ahead of him? Do me a favour..

John Terry should win player of the year, probably Defoe for young player.

However, I think it will turn out:

Player of the year - Frank Lampard
Young player of the year - Arjen Robben

why the hell isn't fabregas in it he has been a real gem for arsenal this season even though we haven't had the best season but at his age to come and play for the first team of arsenal with the likes of henry and viera thats is amazing and especially with the performances he's displayed.

i reckon terry will win it and robben will win it.

I agree that Terry and Lampard will be difficult to seperate, they've both been outsanding this season, but I feel it will go to Lampard as attacking players are generally voted ahead of defenders in these type of awards.

Midfielders have more to do than defenders. Yes defenders clear crosses with headers, and make tackles, and in Terry's case, scores occasionally. They aren't on the ball for most of the game, whereas midfielders, especially central ones like Lampard, enjoy loads of possession every game. He does so much more. He drives the team forward from midfield, tackles well, and most importantly, scores crucial goals - 14 already this season.

I would also like to add that Terry's a more improved player than Lampard this season, if that influences the final choice.

Nice to see a Keeper on the list, as they rarely get adequate recognition.

Lampard to win the 'non-young' award, he has been outsandingly consistent, and constistently outstanding...As has terry, but I feel Lampard will win it, as his position gives him more influence in a way.

I'd like to know why Ronaldo is on the young player of the year award list. He has been good, not very good or excellent though. He has one good game, then 4 bad ones - not good enough.

I feel Wright-Phillips deserves the award, as he's saved his team so many times this season, and played great football. Robbem will get it though, because his teams success will add to his 'pulling power' for the award if you like.
